Pathé Studios, NYC. The correct date is April 2nd, 1962. Trummy Young (tb), Joe Darensbourg (cl), Billy Kyle (p), Billy Cronk (b), Danny Barcelona (dr), Jewel Brown (vcl) - Trummy, Joe and Billy Cronk were not members of the All Stars in 1965 anymore!

How's about a track list and a list of personnel. Satch isn't performing alone...

Trummy Young is on trombone, Billy Kyle on the piano , and both were 2 of the best players of their time on their respective instruments, but lose most of their qualities repeating the same repertoire every night . The bass player is a good studio player, probably Mort Herbert, the drummer is the terrible Danny Barcelona, and I never understood how a less than average musician like him could have been chosen to play with Louis ! As for the clarinet player, I guess, but am not sure that he is Joe Darensburg, a real N.O musician, but .a few levels under Louis. My comments may seem harsh, but in the late 50s there were still plenty of great Jazzmen alive and playing well ! As for the numbers, Louis introduces them.

@@JAZZCLASSIQUE Thanks. There were certainly a lot of good jazzmen still around in the 50s, even in the 80s. I managed to see quite a few of them live, ones who were still blowing well into the late 80s - people like Dizzy, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, JJ Johnson, Benny Carter... I caught up with these great performers and others during two visits that I made to North America back then.

Sadly Louis has been surrounded (Joe Glaser's fault of course) too often by sidemen absolutely inadequate for him, this time ... we note the clarinet.
