Louis was one of the originators.... he fought a hell of battle to be heard.. payed his dues more then most. We all benefit from his greatness... man o man, absolutely one of the greatest musicians of all time. And way underrated.... seeing him with Dean is amazing too...
@markj2838 Martin And Louis! Albeit not Martin And Lewis....what a fantastic video this is! It's one of those rare times when you're having a day in which you wish you were ground zero for a nuclear blast and emerge happier than you've been in ages. Thank you so much for posting! These 2 together could've read a then-phone book to any melody and been greater than most music of any era. At least for me.
I may be a millennial, but I sure do love me some Dean Martin & Louis Armstrong, and the type of music they made. What a great duo these two were, especially for the time they lived in. Dean Martin & Louis Armstrong, different in some ways but very similar in other ways. Skin color didn't matter, just two good friends with soul united to bring & sing great music, two men with real style, real cool, and real class.
+Mark Hoffman The simple truth of the matter--not a modern 'star' can match this level of talent. Too many modern stars rely on techno-mechno to put a song over. If a one of them had to stand on a stage in front of a live audience to perform--not a one of them could. (Maybe Bette Midler is an exception....)
+Steven Torrey !!A fair bit of warning, the following text is a Wall of Text, IF you are interested read it!! Modern Artist use technology and bullshit to appease the modern audience and the 'mainstream'. So if you get this music in the head and make it mainstream, this music will be played again. But that's not a lack of talent in the modern era, but that the talented guys won't hit the mainstream and thus won't get a contract or any platform to rely on to get access to some fans, at least with this kind of music. RU-vid allows unknown Artist to shine, but most of those musicians have a bunch of songs and covers, but won't have enough views to rely on. There are no Jazz/Blues Movies any more and the places Jazz was played in, are converted either to grant people the freedom to speak to each other and thus some music from some CD is enough or the music is completely removed from the place. A former schoolmate of mine owes a Jazz-Cafe here in Berlin, so there are still enough Jazz Artist out there to fill that niche. So it isn't the fault of the modern stars, it's the fault of the society and the mainstream. They can change the sound of music by deciding to listen to a specific kind of music more and thus changing the Genre Pop to a former kind of itself, but they aren't even willing to NOT buy a CD of their fav. band, even if they dislike their new sound. They aren't willing to ignore a concert of this band, since the band maybe plays an old song. They won't change the radio-station, if they dislike the song, since the next song could be better. And that's because they are most likely stressed in such situations. People don't have the time to think about their decisions any more, they don't have the time to inform themselves about music and find new artist. They simply don't have the time and the energy.
This was entertainment. Real entertainment. Class, skill and real music. These two gents had more skill and class in their little finger than most "musicians" and "actors" nowadays could ever dream of having. RIP Dean, RIP Louis. You're both awesome.
This is what i love about Dean and Frank. They would not perform at any place that would exclude Sammy or Pops. They never cared that Sammy and Satchmo were black. They were all brothers.
+DonDraperism Dean and Frank respected mastery which could be another word for icon LOUIS ARMSTRONG. Sammy Davis Jr. was another master. Those two were accomplished beyond belief at that time. It's kinda like when I found out about basketball icon Michael Jordan's boundless talent and learned that his name in Hebrew actually means ONE LIKE GOD WHO HAS DESCENDED. Surely this life we live is divinely scripted.
WHO SAID ` It is NOT Popular ` ? Madam just because its mainly KIDS that are buying music or watching TV does not count out the FACT there are MORE people of a earlier Generation that LOVE this REAL Music. and there are PLENTY of them of them.
Great performances like this were a regular feature of TV from the mid 60's thru the 70's. It really was a golden age of music on TV; we just didn't realize it.
I grew up in the 80's with heavy metal and am now 45 and have realized that this is the BEST music ever. So much talent and love/respect for each other.
You can't help but smile the whole time you're watching them sing. This made my day! Yeah Mark, why can't we have this today? Thank you so much for posting. God bless America!
@@toniwilson1579 Hi Toni, I agree! I agree. I could add so much more to that one reason. However, I am thankful for RU-vid and the people that post things like this. And the good news is, whenever I get that nostalgic feeling, I just go to RU-vid and 99.9% of the the time someone has posted just the thing I'm looking for. Thank you for your comment. Take care and have a good rest of the year! Zan
My two favourites perform together. Wonderful is my word. They'll always be remembered. Thank you for the post. Happiest Merriest Christmas🎅everyone. Good health to all.
Doug Danzeisen That's true, but I have only recently discovered these old shows on You tube and from all those I have watched so far, it seems to me that Dean ALWAYS enjoyed himself, with that wonderful warm smile never far away!
Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin, such talent we no longer have. I miss these wonderful men but, than you whoever, for preserving all their videos. What a Wonderful World it was.
Dean Martin and Louis Armstrong seem to have fun with this routine. I think Dean and Frank Sinatra really enjoyed singing with Louis. It is sure is fun for me.
Certainly, that's becoming scare in some areas. Speacially cause of all the news about racial tension. Although I don't think it's nearly as bad as it once was.
I had tears in my eyes when I watched this and some other nostalgic videos. I came up with this poem. I hope you guys like it. A Trip To The Past Thank you dear Internet Thank you dear sweet my PC Tears why do I feel? Really sad is this day? Someone, something brought me back To the spots not lost in me To the times still which stand No one but appreciates Re-ignited in me beauty Re-ignited all my tears Smiles show up on my face Had I thought were lost for ever Tears and my beauty, friends On my side will always be Jawaid A.
