My favorite bond film of them all. I watch this movie every Christmas season. I was born in 1964. My family lived in Corona, queens NY. Louis Armstrong and his wife lived about 5 blocks away from us. My father told me Mr Armstrong was good man. He used to play with the neighborhood kids and have little barbecue's for them when he wasn't traveling or on tour.
@@mop714 thx. Louis Armstrong's home is still around. It's a national landmark and museum. Although that neighborhood has deeply changed....Louis' legacy hasn't been for forgotten.
@@new_yawker901 I was watching a Louis Armstrong special yesterday and also Billie Holliday. What talent! Diana Rigg was a Yorkshire gal, and proud of it.
In my opinion, this is not just a Bond movie, it’s one of the best romantic movie. Regrettably, the ending is so sad and it still strokes my heart after decades. Still can’t figure out how Diana Rigg could be so elegantly beautiful in this movie, melts my heart 💜
i love on her majestys secret service one of the most undrarated early bond films that had some heart and made bond more human with feelings that the previous films and later ones did'nt and they made him out to be athe womaniser and doing what he had to do to get the mission done ect cause sean connery was the 1st bond and then george Lazenby fo this one and only one before they brought connery back ....im currently reading a book on all the bond films and it has a foreward by george lazenby ...its actualy a good read and exposes warts and all what went on on each bond film .......all the arguments between cubby brocolli and hary salztman and the various lead james bonds ect the books called ..some kind of hero the remarkable stor of the james bond films! well wotrth a read tbh P.S if you didnt know apart from diana rigg in the main bond girl role ....a very young Joanna Lumley is one of the bond girls in the swiss apls moutain lair of blowfeld!
@@BrickTemplar enjoy while it lasts…the Woke circus looneys will soon call out 007 as an opportunistic womanizer and petition for that land whale Rosie O’Donnell to be the next PC Bond. People are SO easily offended nowadays…
Totally agree saw no time to die and cried when I heard Louis. Watched on her Majesty's Secret Service at the drive in when it came out I knew when they played Louis there was heartbreak ahead. ❤️
RIP Diana Rigg - 20 July 1938 - 10 September 2020. Now we will have all the time of the world to remember you forever ! The brought back this wonderful them to the new film "No Time to Die" (2021).
@@BrickTemplar Well....obviously they're about Bond, either you haven't seen them or, no disrespect but you're very slow. And news flash, all movies aren't just about story but money too! Or did you think film studios are a charity😅
I was here three days ago. Than, today in the afternoon, initially with a lot of surprise but at the end with great sadness, I listened to this song in NTTD.
He didn’t want to get typecast etc. well… he didn’t exactly ascend to great heights after. It would have been better to have stayed. IMHO Lazenby was a great Bond. Far superior to that Moore fop and that insipid Dalton
George Lazenby is the most underrated Bond ever. He was perfect for the role. He had the look, suave and sophistication. Together with Diana Rigg, they were brilliant. On Her Majesty‘s Secret Service is a bonafide masterpiece. Upon reflection, even Timothy Dalton has got something going as Bond. I think these films have aged incredibly well. Just one criticism for this film here, I wish they’d kept the Louis Armstrong theme tune going right to the end of the credits.
Yes Lazenby was James Bond you should read the story of how they hired him, the man did everything James Bond would have done to infiltrate SPECTRE. My favorite James Bond Movie !
For the longest time, I didn't see On Her Majesty's, because I'd heard it wasn't good. When I finally saw it, I loved it - it is one of my favourite Bond films,, and the film is unique in that is really an examination OF Bond, and his relationship with Tracy. On top of this, is Mr Armstrong's song...
Right, but you still probably did the best thing to wait. If you watch it as one of the first when you're first old enough to watch Bond films (so maybe age 10 or something) you won't appreciate it as much. It's a Bond film for adults.
@@kosice1234 Love and respect are not enough for Lazenby and the film. Director Peter Hunt did a great job, but the film is more like a romantic movie and ignored that Bond and Blofeld met in the previous film. Lazenby's Bond, relatively young, vulnerable and infinite, has some similarities with Bond in ''Casino Royale'' without the final scene. In this scene we see the character of Bond who had to play in O.H.M.S.S. A mature man with experience, like the actors in the other roles. Until the early 70s Connery is Bond for everyone. After him in this film, I believe to Stanley Baker. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q8CT-4LvqHc.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cw95BwoB0zE.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q1EADjxkIUs.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nvG0jHerGzw.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vstr-jhCjVY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nZX6tlAg9aQ.html
It’s sad to think No Time to Die is the first Bond film to come out after Connery and Moore have passed. NTTD was such a wonderful and powerful movie, I can’t help but wonder what they would think of the story and Craig’s portrayal. RIP Connery & Moore. You are missed.
Moore and Connery would've hated it like I did. The killing off of the character is not something they likely would've been amused with. In my view NTTD ranks down there with TMWTGG as among the WORST of the franchise. The fact they use music and even a plot device from OHMSS tells you which is the best Bond film of all time and it isn't Craig's last outing.
@@kkennedy3466 I agree they may not have liked the fate at the end, but Roger Moore did say after seeing Craig in Skyfall that he was the best Bond. Craig’s Bond hurts, he cries, he has been more realistic, so it’s understandable they want to end his portrayal in a similar fashion. Why no love for TMWTGG??
@@stephenfreyseng1748 Craig may have been the closest to Lazenby hence the comparisons to OMHSS but I still found he has much less charisma than any Bond from before. As for TMWTGG most Bond fans agree it's the weakest of the bunch nothwithstanding Christopher Lee being a great actor. The plot of that film and the carnival antics made it cheesy and kind of set the tone of the films until FYEO which I consider Moore's best film
@@kkennedy3466 Craig has done a fantastic job and nothing like TMWTGG, and you say cheesy, most of the bond films before Craig's have been cheesy! thats a simple reality, in factc thats what some people even liked! Cheesy Bond! Craig did stereotypical Bond and a good gritty Bond and broke the mould all in one. Can't be took away from him as far as I'm concerned.
Just seen the new Bond movie, can’t deny there was a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye at the end as I sang along quietly. End of a era . Thanks Daniel!
True that. Knew there was heartbreak ahead when they played Louis. Foreboding from OHMSS and Tracy died in James arms. People cried at the drive in when I saw OHMSS and there were some wet eyes at NTTD as well. Never thought I'd see Bond die.But I never thought I'd see the man I loved for 20 years killed at the beginning of Covid either so there you go. You just never can tell. B well and safe out there hug if u can
@@tonymontana4284 It was the end of his era. Nothing wrong with killing him as long as its done right. Not like there's a law saying not to. Its just fiction.
Anyone who gives a "thumbs down" review to Louis Armstrong's superb song "We Have All The Time In The World" must hate music! Sadly Armstrong didn't have all the time in the world after he recorded this magnificent song because he died just weeks or months after he recorded it. He got out of his sick bed to record it. He was too sick to fly to England to record it , so he sang it in a NY recording studio. I think I read somewhere that Phil Ramone produced the recording. Armstrong was so weak from his illness that he could not even play his trumpet on the recording, so they used a studio musician to play the trumpet solo part of the song. After the recording Armstrong supposedly told John Barry, "Thanks for this gig man". Sadly It was the last song Louis Armstrong ever recorded.
Your right, and somewhat about Specter producing I do not think that it was mention in the James Bond Book about the music - Yes John Barry did the music, and it was Herb Alpert that play the horn, as Louis was sick to play the solo trumpet, so they asked Alpert to play the solo piece, But Specter No, he is too busy in Prison...
@ Alex Carrillo. I had not heard before or read anywhere that it was Herb Alpert that played the trumpet solo on the song, "We Have All The Time In The World" from "OHMSS". Since the trumpet solo is a simple solo to play for any accomplished trumpeter, you would think that they could simply have hired any competent studio musician trumpeter to play it. John Barry liked to work with the same group of musicians to play the musical instruments on the Bond film music score recordings. But since Phil Specter produced the song that Louis Armstrong sang for that movie in NYC, it could be that Specter asked Herb Alpert to play the trumpet solo on the song.
@@danielgregory3295 . Louis Armstrong was unfortunately too weak from his cancer to play his trumpet on the song, "We Have All The Time In The World" for the James Bond film, "OHMSS". John Barry said that Armstrong got out of his sickbed to record that song. Armstrong did a fantastic job singing that song in his severely weakened condition. You can hear on the recording just how much of a strain it was on Armstrong to sing because he constantly hisses the word "us" in the song, such as in the lyric, ''Every step of the way will find us....with the cares of the world far behind us...yes". Even when he sang the word "way" in that lyric, you can clearly hear how hard it was for him to vocally extend out that word!
Many reasons I love OHMSS: Lazenby, Diana Rigg was a Goddess at that time and was never bested as a Bond girl. The score, the cinematography, the more Human story, and on and on. I wasn't even a teenager when I saw it in an old theater with a balcony and I still remember the "feels" as I walked out. Very well made film.
Mark Birnage The feeling is exactly mutual. Such a romantic movie but sadly to having such a sad ending! My favorite Bond movie, let alone best song, most handsome Bond and most beautiful Bond’s lady.
@@ktolwal most didn't like it since its the first Bond movie without Sean. Over the years people have changed their view based on the movie itself rather than comparing George to Sean. OHMSS has been an favourite of mine
What a unbelievable beauty Diana was .... for eternity .... Rest In Peace, you wonderful woman - and thank you for the opportunity having watched you and your screenplay
Dame Diana Rigg,,,,, you played many roles and many characters but for me you will always be Tracy from this movie, this iconic footage with Louis Armstrong in the background was special and in real life you were everything Tracy was and more, you were special too, Dame Diana Rigg R.I.P. xxxx
Amazingly, this song never got anywhere on its original UK release in 1969. However, in the US it got to #3. Beautiful timeless classic. Many years later, it got revived in a UK beer commercial and became a smash hit. R.I.P. Louis
Honestly, one of the top 5 Bond films. A bit silly sometimes but nowhere near as silly as some of the Roger Moore outings. Many tender, beautiful moments and incredible score.
Too right ❤️ as a fan from the beginning I knew when they played Louis there was heartbreak ahead. Never forget Tracy (Diana Rigg) dying in Bond's arms at the end of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.Evetyone at the drive in was crying.
I first heard this song on the radio in the UK when I was a boy in the 70's. it was on one of the radio station's play lists for a short while. Thank God for You tube because I found it straight away after having not heard the song for decades ( I am currently in my 56th year) its funny how this song in particular resurfaced in my mind at the passing of my dad in March of 2010. It overwhelms me with tears every time I hear it. The irony of the title is that "all the time in the world" ran out before I got a chance to get close to my dad. Our relationship had always been distant. I'm a professional musician. I sang this song at Cornelius Osbourne's funeral.
Then you will appreciate Steve Coogan’s Desert Island Discs episode on Radio 4. Download the podcast, this track is one of his 7 all time favourites. Great description too of the beauty of John Barry’s cinematic work. I had not heard it eat her until I heard that interview and I’ve never forgotten it since.
Roger Moore is my favourIte Bond, (The Spy Who Loved Me, Lotus Esprit, Caroline Munro!)) but I've grown to love this film. This song is beautiful. It makes me tearful. This song is the best in the Bond films, in a much underrated film.
Incidentally, my dad met Connery when he did some trade work for him many years ago, he said Connery was a "rather unpleasant man", his words were a bit more 'colourful' than that!
THE best Bond movie - ever! And more importantly, it set the scene for what Bond became after the tragedy of his one true love, noting his deep love for Vesper Lynd, which if truth be known, Craig’s Bond never fully got over. Armstrong not only sung it beautifully, he made it a song that no one that came after him could even get close enough to, to have the same impact on those who hear it.
This was my Father's favorite song ever..it reminds me of my childhood so much because he'd always play this soundtrack. I miss you so much Daddy, you were and always will be the Love of My Life.
One thing was missing here, should have shown some of the graveyard scene at beginning of For Your Eyes Only at the end as Bond cries as if he's remembering and no doubt was at Tracy's grave. Even after close to 15 years after her death loved her still.
From the first time I saw ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE This piece by Louis Armstrong has always struck a chord in my heart. And that comes from a true classic rock Drummer. When this played at the end of NO TIME TO DIE I cried like never before. Well done Louis And well done 007 MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Farewell bond girl... I spend beautifully moments with this movie. And with this melody with words that means in our life's everything... Time to time i play this just for remembering that love can exist when someone can't see her . Because his love was true...Goodbye
This song compliments the relationship with Bond and Tracy. Each time i hear this song it makes me cry. Being a Bond fan and realizing how No Time to Die was going to end I totally lost it. 007 Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
