Yes! Patrice saw where the joke was going and I got the impression, and I could be wrong, that he lobbed a softball at Louie to nail out of the park. That guy is sorely missed.
Louis using Patrice's own sense of humor against him really makes it for me. Patrice was definitely the dude to tell someone to shut up or to mock them (in a hilarious way) if they were veering away from humor or being too smart or pretentious. The fact that he couldn't help but laugh is so great.
@@utarian7 Dipaolo would drop some outlandish racist shit and make patrice lose it, Quinn would mock patrice on the same level, but Norton, oh god i love when Jimmy out of nowhere starts ranting and patrice lose his bearings laughing throughout the whole thing. even Cumia to some degree would riff on racist stuff and patrice loved how sincere it was
Anthony Jeselnik earned Patrice's respect at the Roast of Mike Tyson with this joke and follow-up. Jeselnik - "Mike, what can I say about you that hasn't already been the title of a Richard Pryor album?" Only Patrice starts clapping, because nobody else got the joke. It's a great joke though, once you look up the names of Richard Pryor albums. Then Patrice says, "Too many white people here for that joke.", because nobody is laughing. Jeselnik then says - "You know what nobody ever says? Too few black people." Patrice applauded him for that one, too.
Insecure Opie, always killing the fun. He was like the substitute teacher trying to handle a bunch of the best comic minds on the planet disrupting his classroom.
Looking at what a disaster Norton and Anthony are without him I genuinely think the man knew what he was doing. He paced that shit. Not remotely funny but the guy knows how to keep Shit flowing
@@thegadflygang5381 what are you talking about? Anthony and Jim are much better to listen to on Chips podcast. The conversation can actually flow naturally and it doesn't feel rushed and forced.
@@reeetawd you are in the minority then because I genuinely dont know a single person who would prefer any of them in twos or solo than the trio. And I actually know Anthony and like him. They work well together. Norton's Chip shit is awful. It is cringey and tryhard, it is taking something that on rare occasions was responsible for an ironic cringe. And then doing it for four hours. Hot garbage. Norton by himself or with the intern weirdo sucks
@@metalmayhem3622 realising how you can make a really silly yet really funny joke even with "the one forbidden word that you cannot enunciate". The only "offensive" or "racist" thing about his joke is the fact that he said the word he supposedly cannot say. That fact's gotta turn some gears in the North American public's mind, and through laughs!
He understood the joke even before it came out of Louis mouth. He knew what was that about. Patrice was smart. And he broke it down in next sentence. What he thought the joke was about. It’s just smart laugh between two genius comedians
I still come back and watch this every once in a while. I can never help but audibly laugh even though I know exactly what’s coming. Just a perfect joke. The timing, delivery, riskiness, everything was great.
I remember hearing this bit live on XM driving home from work one morning. When Louis CK said what he said, I had to pull over at a car dealership, I was laughing so hard. Couldn't breathe, eyes were tearing. That was so completely unexpected. That's comedy genius, then Patrice says the word was a feeling, the back and forth....until Opie ruins the fun and takes a call. Way to go, Ship Steerer.
Dude the first time I bought satellite radio on,the first iPhone. I was strolling through channels. I went is this kangaroo jack black actor. ? Then I kept hearing jt, while in public but people just looked at me weird. Then I learned if was Patrice ,ever since I listened to O&A. Now more than a decade later. O&A with Patrice O'Neal
People say shit like "he wouldn't have said that if it was any black guy except Patrice" and they're right. Patrice knew how to appreciate a funny joke, no matter the race of the person saying it.
Man, just imagine being able to make Patrice laugh like that even just once. The fact that Louie was able to make that happen countless times just shows how good of a comedian he is
In an alternate universe there's no Joe Rogan podcast and instead there's a weekly podcast with Louis, Patrice and Bill Burr and it's the greatest thing that ever existed.
As soon as louis cuts in you can hear patrice giggling cuz he know louis isn't being serious, he knew louis wasn't about to give some interesting historical story about the origins
It still is, losers just have the internet to get together and write articles about comedy that offended them, but any good comic is still just as funny
Two of my favorite comedians. Hearing louis make patrice laugh his ass off is one of the funniest things I've ever heard on RU-vid. I love hearing comedians laugh. That one is my all time favorite. Close 2nd is Rodney Dangerfield on Carson when he puts his game face back on turns to Ed and says what's knew with you? Carson looses his legs and goes running but it's when he comes back to his desk you see Rodney's feet coming off the floor because he's laughing his off.
Do you realize people had been whining about "PC" and claiming they weren't "allowed" to say offensive things for YEARS before this clip aired? The whole thing is bullshit. You aren't being suppressed. Think for yourself.
@@matthewstephens6848 it’s like a comedian roundtable with Rock, Seinfeld, CK and Ricky Gervais. Louis talks about his favorite stupid joke about a gay guy singing Dock of the Bay with “different” lyrics.
