The neon light effects on the instruments in 1946! And WW2 still fresh, this must have been a real good tonic. Please somebody remaster these recordings.

Ive always been a fan of Louis Jordan. Watching this vintage footage convinces me that he is Godfather of Rock n Roll. You could definitely tell where Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles and Elvis got their style from.

From wherever the later "Rock´n Roll" craze was coming - this stuff is def. Jazz Bigband-oriented as my great friend, teacher and mentor, Jazz-organ pioneer Wild Bill Davis always told me Sir. He was pianist and arranger with Jordan in this period and also performs in this soundie / video. So he knew what was happen, be sure :-)

Hi Bessie..no, your right. I know Brian Setzer from the Stray Cats, had a Orchestra Juke joint type of feel.. check out " Jump, jive, well " I was just thinking while I was listening to this.. I Heard Louis on a radio in Utah late at night coming home from a AA meeting..1995..hot summer night.. BAM !!! On comes Calidonia, followed up with Peggy Lee and " Fever" . Well, after I came back down to earth, I never looked back. I vow to you and everyone else who hears this music and asks the same question.. I know they're people out there that want to keep playing and writing this style. I promise with my last breath of air, I will keep playing, keep learning, and keep the legends of music alive for the next generation.🎶

67 years. It took 67 years to kill rock. It's not completely dead. We have a few promising groups. I just wish it was as prominent as the 70s again.

This is not rock n roll. It is big band swing music from 1946 and is from the movie "Swing Parade of 1946" that also starred Gale Storm and the Three Stooges.

I don't see the connection between this Rock & roll and the associations with white musicians like Led Zeppelin, AD/DC, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles etc. Why is what the latter artists called rock when the influence from this video isn't apparent??
