I'm 57 years old and this is the first time I've ever heard about this man I've never seen someone so happy and joyful about singing and entertaining he's the greatest I wish I could have spent hours with him because I can surely listen to him for hours I've never seen anyone with so much love for what they do he's incredible rest in peace. I wish I could have met you
You can't possibly watch Louis Prima without smiling and jiving along. He had such a great personality and enthusiasm on stage, love to hear him sing, and of course he was a legendary trumpet player. Glad to have any footage of him and his band and Keely but wish it was HD yes!
You can find a lot of it, but not all of it on DVD's. Louis Prima: In Person! Has a few rarities like Louis Prima and Keely in color in the 50's and L.P in color in the 70's.
@@jaxwood3577 Louis Prima was even more jumping on stage live! Keeley Smith was very rubbery and man could she sing. Much better in person. Oceanview Amusement Park in 1960s.
I just happened to see him on The Ed Sullivan Show singing you got me under your skin. I've been listening to him all day God blesses some people with the talent. God bless him times 10. This is the second best Christmas in my life I was feeling down today I have Coronavirus he lifts my spirits and made me want to live thank you Louis
@@ariohd5267 OH my goodness yes!! Sam was a major reason Louis and the gang were as successful as they were! Love listening to anything they ever did!!
True fact... Louie Prima and Keeley Smith's show in Las Vegas started late ..like 2AM so the other entertainers could come to the show's. Louie Prima show was a favorite of the Rat Pack... Sinatra, Sammy, Dean-O, Joey B and the rest. They called him ...simply the best!
Underrated by whom?? His problem was: he was too old for being accepted by young Rock and Roll lovers and too wild for Frank Sinatra fans. That was it, sadly...
@@markusr7421 That may be, but that doesn't change the fact that he was underrated. Maybe that is the reason that he was underrated. But he certainly doesn't give the amount of respect deserved for all the great and fun music that he made.
Sam Butera is my new hero, what a man, what an arranger. We need to get this footage in HD. Those bastards at SOFA ENTERTAINMENT have it all sealed away. 😭
What an amazing human Louis Prima was, he had a spirit and personality that was ahead of it's time and the same goes for everyone else in the band, what a beautiful video to watch.
I just recently got into him despite knowing Just A Gigalo thanks to David Lee Roth for years. I feel I have missed out for a long time but I am so pleased to have all this new classic music to explore!
@@aaronjschaefer wow that’s awesome. That’s like Christmas morning! So much music to explore. His album “The Wildest!” Is one of the greatest albums of all time. But it’s so much more than that. Live albums etc. Anyway, have fun with the greatest entertainer of all time!
Louis Prima fue muy original y creativo. Gozaba escuchándolo y ahora gozo viéndolo. Sus versiones de "I'm Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody" y de "That Old Black Magic", son extraordinarias e inolvidables. Es imposible verlo sin quedar bien de ánimo. Gracias, querido Louis.
This is great. Thanks for uploading. There are two Louis DVD's but this stuff isn't on it - mostly. This needs to be released now before all the fans die off.
I’m probably Louis’s youngest and biggest fan. LOL 37 years old. My mom used to date someone from 93 to 95 named Henry who sounded just like him but more ghetto/abusive, during the fun times I used to call him king Louis.
@@alansmithee7730 lol, makin me feel old at 25 now! Nice work on your channel btw, that DES stereo of Buona Sera sounds awesome... If I had more time on my hands I'd probably give it a shot at making one
Thank you for sharing this precious reel of timeless footage! The ones and only Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Sam Butera and musicians - they don’t make such genuinely great artists and performers anymore!
Such a beautiful video that found myself smiling and giggling at so many moments, to this day they are all such entertainers and they truly had so much fun on that stage with eachother
This was great to see as Louie Prima is always very entertaining and enjoyable. I really enjoyed seeing these Louie Prima performances on the Ed Sullivan show. Those were the days indeed! Thank you for posting this video here Joe Ferrara .
That performance make me happier than any song I've ever heard. You're under my skin the first time I stood up and over 14 hours. Thank you for putting life back into me I'll never forget this the rest of my life
I stumbled upon a video of this band doing Night Train, which is one of my favorite saxophone songs. It took me 65 years to discover this band, now I'm obsessed!! Sam is fantastic on that saxophone and Louis and Keely are FANTASTIC!! I've been watching ever video I can find! How did I grow up missing this!!!??
Gold lamie jackets were very sharp and colorful in live performances. Louis Prima's momma said dat boy just came out a bucking jiving wiggling and dancing and singing when he was born. When the show was over they be sleeping in the corner of the stage. Keeley Smith was very pretty and smelled of sweet perfume. When she gave me back to my parents I cried even more! Didn't want to leave her arms. I was only 4 years old. 1962!
I have been a Louis\Keely for almost 30 years now and I don't think I ever saw some of this footage. Thanks for posting. One of my friends and I were just having the conversation the other day where the question was "If you could go back in time to see one music act perform live, who would it be?" For me, without a doubt it would be Louis and Keely. I can't think of another group that would have been more fun to watch.
One of the biggest entertainers ever lived - together with his great band and the lovely talented Keely Smith they're unbeatable... Thanks for uploading - pity the quality is far good, but gettin' better by time of running. "And this is Keely Smith from cherokee reservation - I am Mr. Smith, halleluja!" hahaha...
Lots of props for Louis and Keeley as expected and warranted but Sam Butera was pivotal to the success of the act. A top of the line sax player, and jazz vocalist, Butera was the arranger of the music for the group ("Jump, Jive and Wail" is definitive Butera). His vocals on "Next Time" are worth a listen.
at first, I thought there were jokers, but they keep me glued till the end, I was born in 1970 but somehow I know I have heard that voice before. dominican republic. he must have been very famous in those days. everybody is gone, we will be gone tomorrow too.
A “PIE-zahn” Haha! Ed Sullivan was unique for sure, and oh what talent he presented over the years! Louis Prima, influenced ( who wasn’t?) by the greatest, Louis Armstrong, developed such a wonderful unique style of his own of course!
Louis Prima is unreplaceable The closest thing to the wildest would be his daughter Lena prima What a beautiful person with a beautiful smooth voice I know her father is watching from above with a big smile on his face
I know he was the most talented and the greatest entertainer aside from the chairman of the board " Frank" . The ladies my mom loved him and Tony Bennett but the ol man preferred Primo I figured it out he was talking about prima he drank primo to as everyone supported the local brewery thanks guys and dames for reading and enjoying Louis see his documentary too.mahalo and aloha Analu
Where the HECK did u get these kinneyscopes????? AWESOME! Loved Louie and Keely and would dance at 6 years old thru 60 for my aunts and uncles and Mom and Dad!! Great memories!!!!!!!
