Louisa Kentucky // Walking and Driving Tour eastern KY

This is a driving and walking tour, with some commentary, of the small Eastern Kentucky Hill town of Louisa. I also toured Fort Gay, West Virginia just across the river. Levisa Fork and Tug Fork combine at Louisa to create the Big Sandy river which flows northwards until it empties into the Ohio River. It is the border between Kentucky and West Virginia.
And towards the beginning look out for an AMAZING BEAUTIFUL Gas Station!!!

My g grandparents. The McHenrys lived in Louisa in the hills. Still have People there. My father was a Hughes.Also from Louisa

I'm from Louisa Kentucky and I see that place every day LOL this is kind of funny but I just searched up Louisa and I saw this video was like oh it's a tour of my own hometown let's see what I don't know

was there for September fest this year. Drove down from Kalamazoo Michigane with my 22yr old daughter to see Tyler Childers.. Awesome concert, people were wonderfull to be around!! Thank you Louisa!!

This is where my dad's family is from and I know some of my relatives still live here and across the border in Huntington. I've never met any of his relatives but I always thought about visiting Louisa to see where my dad's roots began. Since I can't do that right now, I'm so happy this video exists. Very cool to see what Louisa looks like! I'd love to see a video of Septemberfest ❤

Great video, thanks for the tour! I lived there for several years when I was in elementary school and I remember when Dee's drive in opened up in the mid to late 60's, and my father took me for an ice cream cone.

Overall, what are thoughts on Louisa? I hear it's nice but I also hear it's taken over by the oxy zombies, It looks beautiful and I know there is a really nice housing district

It was a very nice old river town, tons of character and charm and definitely people working hard to keep it thriving as best as possible. That said there was definitely a lot of Room for improvement a lot of houses that needed to be renovated, several empty store fronts. I think the area could use some more employers, as it is too far to commute elsewhere.

They really have the potential to turn it into a great tourist area, with the river there and lots of state game lands around. Put in a couple outfitters and some bed and breakfast places for people to stay and people from a large area would find it quickly

Honestly I live in Louisa Kentucky And I think it Sucks I have lived here for Years, I was born here and never liked it, so boring really no place to go I would avoid this town I only live here because I no other place to go I live with family, there are a lot of people on drugs here, Lots Of Opioid Abuse in this State

A lot of small towns suffer from the same lack of things to do, I get it. But family is nice to have and can make a place more bearable. Plus you're in a pretty part of the country, beats flat farmland
