If only politicians followed the ten commandments

What about the parents? They need to be modeling these commandments for their children or else the children will not practice them at school. Parents/caregivers are a child’s first teacher. It’s already a struggle to get students to follow basic instructions in class.

The lack of understanding about the separation of church and state is staggering, and the misuse is revolting. How many of these politicians made it to office is a mystery.

They should then write them in their entirety. Not just abbreviated words. Write them exactly as God wrote them and they will make a more powerful statement of what God expected for his people. All 10 are exactly written in stone for a reason. Especially the fourth commandment in Exodus 20 versus 8- 11.

This brings me so much joy and hope at a time when our country is truly falling apart.

The lord God gave the 10 commandments he wrote them in stone and gave them to Moses. Moses carried them down from mount Sinai. He mistakenly said Moses gave the laws.

If you keep anything from the American people that you are told, I will punish you severely." "How will I know that this is for real -that it will really happen?" I asked. "As a sign that I have spoken to you, tomorrow before you wake, I will send someone to bring you a bed, and at noon I will send you a car and a bucket of honey. After which I will send someone to pay your rent." The next day someone brought Dumitru a bed, and at noon a car arrived with the bucket of honey. His rent was also paid, as God had promised him. I'm 71 years old, a proud Veteran, and lifelong Conservative Christian. I'm ashamed of all of you on this thread who think this is good. Until we sufficiently feed these, the most impoverished in the nation, children, see to it that they have decent Healthcare, and pass sensible gun laws that protect them as much as we can, then these commandments are NOTHING but a symbol of our pure hypocrisy. I'm so sick of this. This isn't what I fought for.

Indeed the ten commandments greatly effected the present law system we have today. Just shows you the eternal wisdom of God and the undeniable relevance of God's Word even today.

Put it on the walls of some churches too because some don't seem to recall them before they fall into "moral failure" as sexual abuse by pastors and ministers and lay Christians are being uncovered and brought to light in recent years. Please, while we are it, put the Sermon on the Mount on church walls and the Golden Rule. Also, don't forget to put the Greatest Commandment on the church walls too. Plus the story of the Good Samaritan. How is it that we expect sinless behavior from the unbelievers and unsaved, but we excuse, cover up, deny our own sin?

America was founded upon one single principle: SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. A principle much older than the Constitution itself (Rhode Island, 1636). Separation of church and state is EXPLICITLY WRITTEN IN, and STRICTLY MANDATED BY, the First Amendment. ("...no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...")

My only issue is now there will be other Religious groups advocating for their beliefs to be displayed. I have the 10 commandments on my wall at home. I would rather school be a neutral zone and not try to educate my kids on our religion. All I can see is an atheist teacher trying to explain to a classroom of impressionable children what these words mean. I’m so surprised Louisiana (Voodoo state) would pass this law. That community has been growing rapidly in the last 300 years.
