I was 64 and my husband 70 when we decided to completely remodel our 1926 bungalow. We added a whole second floor and went from a shocking one bathroom to an equally shocking four. Many friends questioned us on why. We’ve never looked back. It’s been four years. I wish Paula and Michael many, many years in their new home. ❤️

@@mddell58 yes, the F.N. is an evil, evil thing. I'm probably waaaaay too hard on Bobby, but it seems to me if he had any loyalty to her, he'd not go on her video channel (one of the main reasons she has it is because of that eveil, evil entity), wearing a F.N. apron and telling about F.N. foods and events. OMG I think I totally went ballistic that day!!! Poor Paula! She is going to be like any mother and unconditionally love him...but I immediately grew horns 👿. I also can't wait to meet her. I love her like she was my own mother. I am an orphan and lost both my real mother and my foster mother...so she's it 😂.

Please add railings to the front steps. The hedge just won’t cut it. Unfortunately from experience all it takes is one fall. Please Paula, just add them.

Recently a friend of mine got turned down for renewal by her homeowner's insurance carrier because she did not have regular railings installed beside her outdoor steps. The carrier gave her a 30-day grace period to install the required railings. Otherwise her policy will be terminated. You are so right about risking a fall. Hedges give a person a false sense of security and are not intended to support or balance someone going up or down steps. Falls can set up a serious health decline for seniors by predisposing them to additional injuries and illness.

Yeah, insurance companies will not give polcies for no railings...not to mention how dangerous that is.

@@morgancalvi6675I learned a lot about balance from observing my father's rehab physical therapy sessions after his surgery for a broken hip. Maintaining proper balance was the primary goal, and adequate support is an adjunct to that. Whenever I see people walking up or down steps without holding onto a railing, I get dizzy just thinking about it.

@@vivianpowell1732 What about insurance laws? Everyone in the world sues everyone in the states...if they know someone has money, or even think they have money, and they slip...law suit here we come. I totally agree though. The house isn't finished, but a railing is mandatory.

@@morgancalvi6675 I'm assuming that's one of the main reasons my friend's insurance company requires handrails for steps. Lawsuits. And of course for the homeowner's own good.

Doing a kitchen reno now because our refrigerator died and we had to get a new one. Not easy in this pandemic and then having it shipped, there is a 3 month wait. We were lucky to find a French Door model in stock at a local hardware store that actually fit the space provided in our 41 year old house. That lead to a new hutch and buffet, as the old one was starting to fall apart. Then we added new under cabinet lighting and lighting in the pantry. We will be painting the cabinets, ceiling and walls as soon as the weather permits.

@Tom Austin NE Indiana upbringing, adult life in the DC Metro area, back to NE Indiana now (originally to care for parent with stroke, stayed after her passing because houses are affordable, and I can work from anywhere). My family were in the building trade, so I love refurbished homes. 🍀😃

I so wish I could of stayed in my home where I raised my children...but due to work, my husband was relocated. I swear my heart was ripped out leaving ga for sc as new "empty nesters" ..I just pray, one day, we'll be back in the same area where our memories were made raising our sons. No doubt they'll eventually be installed by the time the remodel is complete. Neither Paula nor Michael are spring chickens. Besides that the Savannah city code will require railing.

What about the building code in that area ? We have 4 steps to our front door and had to install a railing on both sides. ( In North Carolina)..Thank you for inviting us to Dogwood. Can't wait to see it completed.
