One of the loveliest songs I've ever heard. Diane Schuur channels the Divine with her voice. I have "Love Dance" on her COLLECTION CD. That high note she nails on "dance" near the end is so pure and beautiful! It sends shivers up and down my spine like notes that Ella Fitzgerald used to sing. I love the chord progressions in "Love Dance"; they remind me of the shifts in emotion and movements during romantic "interactions." Ahem.
Can you believe this is a Brazilian Song? Ivan Lins, wrote it! Outstanding performance from Diane Shurr! Amazing!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙋♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Yes I can. This song was written by Ivan Lins and produced by Quincy Jones and recorded by the GRP records. Dave Grusin is the mastermind mind behind this artist selection and also for Paving the way for Ivan Lins, Diane, Chick Corea, George Benson, Michael Bracket, Lee Ritnour and many other prominent modern jazz artist of the twenty first century.
@@luciavanolli GRP Records was the seed for many musicians to find their passion and musical path. 90% of the modern Jazz musicians began at GRP Records during the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Ivan Lins, Sivuca, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, and many other musicians passed through the GRP Records. During this time, many musicians like Pat Martini, Lee Ritnour, Toots Thielemans, Quincy Jones, and George Benson fell in love with our Brazilian music through GRP Records. The world is made of connections, some prepositional and in many ways through coincidence. What a powerful musical connection. Thanks for your comments.
I"ve heard her perform live. She is blind but she doesn't need her sight. Her ears are amazing!! Like Ray Charles was. She can hear anything. She has satelite for ears. It's scary what she can hear and do and create at the keyboards. They say when you lose one sense the others ones take over. Her ears more than took over.
DIANE IS PURE PERFECTION.. LOVE her on this, and such inspiring jazz artist.. Love ya.. Deedles and was such a pleasure to meet you and Laguna.. when I was performing jazz sets down there.
@LilyJazzsinger: Yes, I didn't know that about the composition "Love Dance" -- that it is a Brazilian standard, a Brazilian class, by Ivan Lins, until a few days ago when my close friend revealed that to me. I was astounded. Now I must hear the Brazilian original! It all makes sense: "Love Dance" as a bossa nova song! But I won't listen to it alone (whenever that day comes). I know I'll faint; I will. So someone will need to be here to catch me. Diane does sweet justice to the song, still.
She's as good as she is because she genuinely enjoys what she does and the audience become contaminated with her enthusiasm. She's electrifyingly exciting.
No such thing as perfection at its best. Same as saying 101%..Perfection IS the ultimate description of something...But maybe for Diane we can push it up a notch !!
tststsls it's from "GRP Super Live in concert". it was put out in 1988, and recorded in Japan. Superlative performances by all the grp headliners , including a phenomenal recording of Chick Corea and the original electric band.
zKSwing GRP Super Live in Concert it was a double live album done in Japan and features all the grp headliners like Lee rittenour, Chick Corea , Tom Scott and Dave grusin. I think it was made in 1988, I had it on cassette and wore it out. Just bought it again on CD. The Chick Corea performance is with the original electric band and is just phenomenal.
Voice is outstanding, but the arrangement is so-so. If you listen to this live version with "musical ears", you hear that the acoustic piano is almost drowned in this Rhodes thing. If an only if Diane plays something on the high octaves, you here that there *IS* a piano in there...
Usually live performance renditions are somewhat faster. That being said the underlying double-time feel against the backbeat seems to work pretty well.
