Hello Natalie. I just want to say. What you do isn’t easy and I appreciate all you do. With the recent filming of rhinebeck I realized that it is a good thing Kent has a steady hand. I tried to watch other podcasters and their videos and I got physically nauseated and my eyes started crossing. I waited a few days until your video came out and I have to say. Kent has a steady hand and his filming the festival booths & various yarns slow enough to capture the colors and the dyers names/ labels was perfect. Please pass along my appreciation for his dedication to those who could not physically attend the festival. He made it seem like I was there. Take care blessings to you both and Toaster as well. You both make a beautiful team! Thanks for all you do!

I love the smell of wool! I grew up having a woolen blanket as my comfort baby blanket which I used to hold to my nose when I slept, so now the smell of anything wool is so comforting! I still sometimes sleep with a woolen sweater to hold if I need it.

I'm glad you got to try Skyline. Next time you are in Cincinnati you'll have to try Graeters which is the best ice cream you'll ever have. And you have to visit Fiona at the Zoo. Excited you got to see the best damn band in the land.

#question. Natalie, I love your podcast, it keeps me company while I do all my chores and makes them so much more enjoyable. But I need more knitting content! What other RU-vidrs can you recommend for yarny podcasts/vlogs, especially some who do vlogmas. Thankyou from the UK 🇬🇧

Another fun episode. So good to hear about your time with friends! Yay for time in Ohio! Hearing about the van being too tall reminded me of one of the few times I was on the OSU campus. In high school we were on a trip for school and as we pulled into a parking garage, the school transport sign on the top of the van got stuck. Funniest part of it was that my dad was the driver as he was the principal. 😂

#question. How does Toaster do when you leave him alone in hotel rooms? I wondered specifically when you said you checked in, chilled for 30 minutes and then left Has anyone ever complained about barking or howling when you’re gone for long periods of time? He’s such a beautiful, sweet dog-I’d hate for him to be scared or lonely.

I love seeing Kent's personality pop up, specifically during the editing and his comments about the "Life" section of your video! I don't know if you've heard of it before (I hadn't until a week ago), but there's such a thing as rechargable hand warmers that you can get anywhere, including Amazon. Thanks for all the hard work you, Kent and Toaster are doing with this new season in your life!

#question I just worked the Fish Lips Kiss Heel for the first time and I love the construction. My question is, when you use a contrast color, how do you “get back” to the main color? The FLK ends at the opposite side from where it begins. Thanks for any tips and for all of the great content.

@TheBlueKnitter Polkadot Creek in Alberta, Canada makes self striping yarn for Canadian hockey NHL teams and one of them is red, white and blue (key words in search Montreal Canadians). I've knit with the one for Winnipeg Jets that is also red, white, blue but has grey added. The red did not bleed onto the white. I soaked in cool water for 15 minutes using Soak but I think a color catcher would be a good idea too. Maybe this will help. Good luck!

Skyline Chili is an acquired taste!! Your next trip through the Nati you have to go to Graeter's for their ice cream and baked goods!! Pizza it is all about LaRosa's Oh I wish I knew about the movie - Florence KY should have a lot for the van! For Cincinnati Yarn Stores - Fiber Optics is a local yarn dyer and MUST but for the LYS community Lambkins Hideaway in Hamilton OH and Stitch Yarn Studio in Covington Ky

#question when you mentioned your sleep schedule being different than normal it made my wonder if you guys feel the affect of driving through time zone changes. Do they not really bother you since you’re driving through them slowly as compared to someone flying from one coast to the other or do you notice your internal clock being off? How long did it take you to adjust off of New Yorks Eastern time when you went west?

#question Hey, Natalie! I have a question about wet blocking: Is there a way to block a garment in a way that will lengthen it, but not widen it? I'm an extremely loose knitter and it's so frustrating to feel like I knit a good gauge and then I wet block a sweater and it feels way too big. Would steam blocking be helpful? Thank you for helping all of us improve as makers! ☺️

My book doesn't say what it means. Thank you and I love watching your podcast and all the adventures. Can't wait to see the next one. Have a wonderful day and Happy Thanksgiving Day. #question Loved the video of Kent working with Brianna to die up the Texas Rangers yarn, Brianna shared so much interesting information. Sock blanks came up a bunch and I had never heard of them before. Could you talk more about them? How are they used in general, and people use them for other projects?
@KnittyNatty
@KnittyNatty 10 месяцев назад
Sure I can! You can use them for any project that requires fingering weight yarn. Since they are so unique, they're usually best for one-skein projects OR perhaps alternating with another color. The only trick to them is that the yarn is wrinkly when you work with it!

#Question My husband also loves to take me along to NFL games. I am not as into football as he is, so I like to bring my knitting. At Lambeau field I was told I wasn’t able to bring in my knitting needles because they could be used as a weapon. That’s the only stadium I’ve had an issue at. Have you been turned away at a sports venue because of your needles. Thanks love the show:

I love seeing the progress on your hexie blanket, it's so beautiful! My Granny Square project for christmas is now at 36 squares done, and I measured again and only need 117, yay! #question Do you block projects that are 100% cotton? I tried with three of my granny squares and they came out all squished and different sizes.
@KnittyNatty
@KnittyNatty 10 месяцев назад
Woohoo! Sure you can try blocking cotton, but it doesn't really behave the same way as animal fibers. Mostly it just needs a wash and sometimes a tumble dry. Check your yarn to see what the label recommends! With granny squares, you'll want to measure as you pin them out (after washing) so they all block the same size.
@junimondify
@junimondify 10 месяцев назад
@@KnittyNatty Thanks for answering! Yes, I realized that I would need to measure as I pin when my three test squares all came out way different sizes... oops! Not much experience with blocking at all, I just never blocked in the past.

#question Hi Natalie! I really enjoy watching your videos when I get the chance! My question is about blocking. I have a lovely sweater that I blocked incorrectly and it stretched out so it’s bigger than I wanted. Is there a way to fix this? I haven’t wanted to try blocking again until I get advice. Thanks!!
@KnittyNatty
@KnittyNatty 10 месяцев назад
Oh no! That really stinks. Did you block your swatch before making? That can be one indicator of if a project will stretch when blocking. I don't want you to be afraid of blocking! You can rewash and be verrrry gentle when squeezing out water (like no letting anything hang, gather in a towel). Then you can reshape it on a flat surface. Only and ONLY if it's superwash could you wait until it's nearly dry and then do a gentle no heat tumble in the dryer. Put the sweater in a garment bag to keep it safe and check often! Good luck!
