I agree. My older kids are 27, 23, 20. I told them they NEVER have to leave. Save your money. I gave them light bill and water bill to split. Tisha started the mess! Tisha is still in denial about going somewhere she was not invited. She continues to try to defend her decision by saying, she wanted to show Mel support and try an start fresh. Even her husband told her she should not have gone because she wasn't invited. So Mel says her event wasn't the time or the place and don't you think you should have called me first. Tisha still wants to argue about going somewhere she wasn't invited. She needs to realize she was wrong.

Dineva, I totally agree with what you’re talking about with respect to paying catch up after college graduation, hell, sometime after high school, truth be told! I think setting kids up and expecting them to be responsible is the way to be. She isn’t just going to let him slack off, but she isn’t throwing him in the ocean with no life jacket in sight.

I’m African and my parents let me and siblings come live home whenever we choose because they don’t want us to be burdened. I’m 30 and came back home when corona hit and my parents were happy to have me back. I’m hopeful that our generation will be the ones that break that and keep our chirrunnnn at home as long as we can

Like Kimmie, I've been an RN for 20+ years, and wouldn't quit for the sake of someone else's dream either. Maurice seems like a selfish, 'all or nothing' kind of guy who wants her to simply comply.

I really root for Tisha, but it was her who turned that whole conversation around with her passive aggressive remarks. Then taking an unnecessary jab at Mel asking her “what’s your brand?” I was over the conversation at that point.

Yessss, build wealth for your kids!! Allow them to leave the nest when they are fully ready! I totally agree! I’m currently working on building wealth for my 3 year old son now! He has accounts and as parents his dad and I will be paying college tuition, and are currently purchasing properties so that we he is ready he will have his own home! He will definitely have a head start in life so that he is able to soar!!

I'm grateful that my parents, specifically my father, had a mindset similar to Kimmi and paid for me and my brother to go to college. I didn't appreciate it at the time because being the naive young adult that I was I assumed everyone's parents paid for them to college, but boy, was I wrong. As a 41-year-old woman now, I am so grateful and appreciative for my parents' sacrifice because I was able to start my life as an adult debt free and it has afforded me so many opportunities now that I might have been able to do if I did student loans to pay back. :-)

It seems to me like Maurice is feeling insufficient, and Kimmi has probably triggered his insecurities by doing something for herself that she has always been used to doing for herself. And he’s encouraging her to stop doing something she loves in the process just to make himself feel more needed and have control. Wrong approach, because I don’t sense he’s being transparent about why he wants her to quit. Are people knocking their door down to do business with them? Has he shown that he’s not capable of handling their current level of clients and needs help that bad? And why does he get to have several things going on? Not once has she asked him to stop working hard in law school (which is his own personal passion). Cause when she’s not working, anytime he asks her to do something that’s his idea, it doesn’t make her happy, and not once has he acknowledged that. He wants her to be home with Muenster playing house, and really has no regard for the fact that she doesn’t want to do that.

Speaking facts about this struggle trauma that keeps going in our families! Other cultures got that one thing right... I’d love for black families to do the same. You are so right about black families, so I made it a point to break that generational curse. I have 3 HBCU grads AAMU, they don't have to pay bills but they do have to work and save, and pay their students loan on time so far 🤞🏽 two out of the three have great jobs and have bought houses with a nest egg in savings. We always wanted our kids to do better then us.

Speak on it I just turned 26 and I’m just now learning about credit . I had talked with my parents that I felt even if they didn’t have the money I feel they could have equipped me with knowledge about the world. I’m just finding out how to use my dental & med ins. I’m trying to buy a house and I’m just now tryna build my credit , It’s a difference if they ain’t know. But black ppl set your kids up to do better.
