I must be the only Phantom fan on the planet who had never heard of “Love Never Dies” until this week! I can’t tell you how excited I am that there is more to their story and that I will be able to enter their world once more. Thank you so VERY much for making these videos. With or without the stay at home orders, your videos would have been greatly appreciated. It’s such a pleasure to look forward to our next “visit” with a man and a composer that we admire so much!
Dawn Oldham You are not alone. Somehow this had escaped me. It honestly was a shock to learn this existed! I listened to the soundtrack thanks to Amazon Prime during the listening party. So beautiful! I can not wait to see this today!! I am so grateful for these shows during lockdown. We all can’t thank this amazing composer enough.
I absolutely loved both Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies I cried like a baby at the end of Love Never Dies so brilliant congratulations, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber
He is just brilliant, isn't he ? Just like Walt Disney he's created this whole world for us. A magical, spectacular world that makes us feel every emotion run through our entire body. LEGENDS!
Just hope after he's gone a bunch of big wig business men dont take over his "vision" and turn it into a marketing empire that destroyed creativity as is Disney.
Thank You, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, for all of these lovely gifts during a difficult time for this World. Very Generous of you and all the Actors and others involved. I look forward to watching this evening, and drifting back into the realm of Christine and The Phantom. 👍🇨🇦👏👏🎼🎹🎶
Same! He's a big reason I went on to major in music, and a bigger reason still that I switched from woodwinds to vocals my senior year of high school, got into an opera program at university... it wouldn't have occurred to me to even try out my voice at all, if I hadn't had something to make me wanna sing like that. Edit to add: I did have my go at opera, had my own little level of success, had a lot of fun, and regret nothing, and it changed my life, thanks to him. :)
The music of "Phantom of the Opera" helped me get through my akward teenage years. I'm so thankful for that Sir! 🙏 Now, my daughters have gotten infected with this music as well. We're so excited to watch "Love Never Dies" tonight!!! Can't wait! ♥️
Yesterday when I was watching the chat talking about ALW, it really hit me how much of an impact he has had on my whole life. His musicals have always been there when I needed to get through something hard. Or even just figuring out who I was. I think when I was 8, my parents got the cassette tape of "Joseph" and I was hooked. I got the little pamphlet with the lyrics and memorized it. I just checked myself quickly and I still have all the colors memorized in order, lol! Then when the movie version of POTO came out, I was so much like Christine, going from a girl to a woman and trying to figure out who she was and what she wanted. More recently, I got hooked on "Evita" a few months before a medical condition took a bad turn (this could get long but to give you an idea I started coughing up blood and had to start chemo). I'm okay talking about it, but I have more of an upbeat attitude and it is hard for me to talk about it without putting a positive spin on it. I literally have made people watch the movie with me because I can't say some of the things I am feeling and I let Eva do it for me. A big one off the top of my head, "Oh, what is the good of the strongest heart, in a body that's falling apart?" "Oh, what I'd give for a million years, but the physical interferes, every day more." There have been so many other bizarre similarities that have happened (not all medical) that make it very obvious that it wasn't an accident that I rediscovered that musical when I did. Sorry that was long but thank you to everyone who read it and got something out of it and a huge thank you if ALW himself does happen to see this!!!
I still love Jesus Christ Superstar and have been listening to that daily during COVID shutdown. Thank you for sharing your gift of music with the world.
Dearest Mr. Andrew Lloyd Webber, not sure if you read through your comments but I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating the Phantom (my all time favourite musical) which has been such a big part of my life since I was first introduced to it as a little girl. I'm in Toronto and was so thrilled to finally be able to see Love Never Dies this year, which as you know got canceled. I am so grateful you are releasing these videos for such an important cause, so that I get to see this fascinating production. You are brilliant at what you do, and thank you for sharing your feelings around it as well. I wish you all the best!
I LOVE this sequel. Today was my first time watching Love Never Dies, and having always been 'Team Phantom' from the very first time I saw The Phantom of the Opera as a little girl, my inner child is doing her happy dance right now that he and Christine did end up getting together and having a child. Thank you Andrew Lloyd Webber for creating these beautiful masterpieces that leave my heart and soul singing every single time!!!! Your music brings so much joy into all of our lives!!!!!!
Just watched the Australian Production. Twice today. I love this version already. The songs are so beautiful. Tears in my eyes on ending scene. Thank you Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. You are such a phenomenon.
Love Never Does has issues, and I agree that it’s quite a bit different technically. Some of the music is absolutely beautiful, some is annoying and goes on for much too long (“my dear old friend” , for instance). ‘Till I Hear You Sing is one of my favorite numbers ever, and it seems a bit sad that the newest production blows that number right at the very beginning. But the opening before was a tragic mess, so this is certainly better.
Chris Virgilio I saw this reworked production in Australia. I wasn’t sure about the plot and the characters. Watching it now, I do think it works if we change what we though about the characters in the original Phantom. Raoul was always a bit annoying on closer inspection. It’s a shame to put the big number at the start, but it really does help explain the motivations of the Phantom so I’m ok with it now. Poor Raoul ended up holding a dead body which I thought was unfair at the time, but really, what else did he deserve, he hadn’t been a good guy for a long time. Ellie.
I never knew that there is a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera until this weekend! And when l watched it the magical, wonderful, and fantastic world of music just got better. Thank you Andrew alloyed Webber for sharing your wonderful talent to the world!
Beneath a moonless sky is my favorite song from the musical... Gosh it is breathtaking, the instrumental is incredible, so moving, the lyrics are fantastic and romantic. Can't wait to watch it! I only listened to the songs, I was never able to watch it so I'm sooo excited!
Dear Sir Andrew. I loved the Australian film of Love Never Dies. I love Ben Lewis voice, deeper and very emotionally expressive. Thank you. I’m very glad you are well again!
Thank you for giving us such beautiful music. So sorry to hear of your cancer and am glad you've made a complete recovery. I lost the love of my life to cancer. He loved your music. I hope you stay in good health from now on. Love Never Dies is one of my favourites. So many of your compositions are! 🌹
Who agrees that Andrew should make a prequel musical based on "Phantom" by Susan Kay? Even Hugh Panaro used that book to study Erik's character. That would be the ultimate trilogy to me.
I am delighted for you that you beat prostate cancer. When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and a month later kidney cancer I really thought I was counting my remaining life in months. But I too came through it, and playing music was a huge part of keeping me positive - particularly Phantom. So a big thank you to you not just for Phantom but for its power in helping me stay positive and get well again.
I have been to Coney Island in the early 70's; you nailed it. I understand what you've been through with cancer, it's a journey like no other. It was not your time yet, for look what you still have to accomplish with your talent. I felt it all along, you are a romantic, and are The Phantom. Wow! All my best for Cinderella. I love what I've heard so far.
And enjoy it, I did. The twists and turns towards the end were unexpected. Thank you ALW. For bringing forth the romance of earlier times, into a now jaded world
Just watched. Impossible to top original Phantom, but this was still a wonder! Clever echos of the original, but brilliant storyline twists. Superb production.THANK YOU SIR ANDREW!
Thank you Andrew Lloyd Webber ... LOVE NEVER DIES is completely different from your original PHANTOM of The OPERA ... but it's SPECTACULAR! The music is to DIE for, absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Love it.
I’m so very grateful for the opportunity to see this production and wow, what a production. I love it, it is so emotional.... and beautifully performed. Have to keep rewatching Christine singing Love Never Dies...it is incredibly powerful. Thank you. I hope I have the chance to see it at the theatre one day.
Hello Sir Andrew, LND is absolutely brilliant, especially as a music score. I only got to see the film during the lockdown and it took a while to grow on me. It saddens me that such a masterpiece has not been rightfully appreciated. But I am sure it will be in the future. Sooner or later. Thank you Sir for bringing beautiful music into our lives.
I agree that this show has its flaws (as any show does) but this show made me believe in love again. Not to mention the music is breathtaking. There is just something about this score that keeps me coming back again and again. Also getting to see the character development of some of my favorites from the original, made me sooooo happy!
There aren’t enough words for thanking you so much for all the insight of Love Never Dies.... which was amazing to watch and feel to the core. Thank you for sharing.
I was listening to the cd this morning just to refresh my memory and can;t wait for the broadcast tonight. I was fortunate to see the production in London a few years back. You music sir Andrew is truly magical. Thanks
Well, for me except Starlight Express. But I loved Song and Dance, especially the Tell Me On a Sunday side. A shame it seems to have disappeared in recent times - hopefully it's just resting quietly.
Sir, thank you for your explanations but fact is Phantom of the Opera is your outstanding masterpiece, the best 'non nova, sed nove' play ever done and it will bring audiences to theaters for generations to come. Love Never Dies is a good work but it lives unfairly under the shadow of the most brillant musical of all times. Casting Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo for Christine and the Phantom parts in both musicals was the best choice you ever made, their portrayal of these characters captivated audiences ten years ago and it still enchants new audiences now. Wish you health and a life long enough to see LND be appreciated as you once envisioned.
Thank you SO much for making Love never dies available to us! I’ve been wanting to see it for years! It has some really good scenes and music and lots of talented people involved in it. Not my favourite of your shows, but I really enjoyed watching it! Thank you so much again!😘
I was completely captivated by LND I’m saddened I never got to see it live, ( illness) thank you Andrew you are a genius, any chance of Sunset Boulevard? I saw you In Majorca years ago and I was desperate to speak to you about my love for phantom (I’ve seen it 16 times, and I’ll be back again when it’s safe to, )I knew it would be an invasion of your privacy so I walked on! Keep safe ... We need you in our lives 🥰
Still wish both the London and the Australian could have been put on dvd together so we who love London could see it again but also to see the progression to your finished perfection. Loved it I long to see it live again in London. Totally loved it and to have Ramin and Sierra do that then 25th of phantom was perfection
I saw the original London production with Ramin and Sierra, and I loved it. It was familiar, but yet different and there were technologically as many 'wow' moments as the original. I think the score is beautiful, and I listen to it just as much as the original.
I've actually watched this show (bluray) and what can I say. Let's not talk about the plot, let's talk about the music. The music here really is beautiful. For me, phantom of the opera = story, love never dies = music. Both are great musicals either way.
I’ve met Andrew Lloyd Webber a few times as I was actually in the West End cast of School of rock cast 4! He is so lovely and inspirational and you can tell her really cares about his cast and his musicals.
Thank you Sir Andrew so very much for continuing the story! I’m looking forward to seeing it today! Please take care of yourself in these crazy times! Love you so much!!!🥰
Phantom is my favorite musical because of the amazing and fascinating music. The cast is also fantastic. Everyday I am singing to the soundtrack of Phantom or I’m I watching the videos of the production. I just wanted to say thank you so much for bringing Phantom to our world and thank you for being the best human being in the world!!❤️
Please, continue to write and create! Such a beautiful and emotional piece. Thank you for sharing it with us! "Phantom" and "Love Never Dies" will live for generations to see and enjoy.
I have just watched Love Never Dies for the first time and I have to tell you, I LOVED IT....I can't stop crying (like I did at the end of Phantom), Thank you so much for sharing it, I am now off to buy the dvd as I loved it so much. THANK YOU THANK YOU.
I was right. I wrote a comment on the LND video when it was up a few days ago, that Love Never Dies' story do seem 'off' because, although he only gave strong hints here instead of stating it explicitly, it has ties to Andrew's own personal life. Christine = Sarah Brightman, the originator of the role who's also Andrew's ex wife, while Phantom's a character he always (secretly) associated with himself. The two couldn't have children (thus he created the character Gustave), and their marriage broke apart (hence Christine dies in LND). Christine's death also means that he wants to consider Brightman simply as a part of his past, but not without pouring all of his romantic senses into a 'what if' fantasy of Phantom (himself) and Christine (Brightman) getting back together and having a child, before saying goodbye to her forever (by killing the character Christine). I think he still loved Brightman even after their separation, but some things made it impossible for them to go back together, hence he chose to move on. Putting it simply, LND - no matter how 'odd' people think the story is - is Andrew's way of healing himself, of laying the past to rest, and moving on to another chapters in his life. This, to me, is really inspiring.
Am so looking forward to seeing it as I saw one of the preview shows back in February 2010 with Sierra and Ramin. They were amazing together and I often play the cd ! I love the music and would see it again if it’s ever back on the west end again. I also hope you will let us see Sunset Boulevard. My favourite as well! Thank you for sharing this story about how Love Never Dies came about.
Thank you so much for showing these musicals over the last few difficult weeks. I LOVE all musicals but sadly had never got to see Love Never Dies. I really enjoyed seeing this for the 1st time tonight, although ended up sobbing at the end ! It was such a beautiful show & again Thank you for sharing it with us all.
I love how Love Never Dies and Phantom of the Opera came to life. Thanks to Ramin, Ben, Sierra, Anne and to the entire production/cast. My utmost respect to Sir ALW for making this possible. Thank you, sir! 😊
I really enjoyed seeing the Phantom and Christine's story come to it's end. Well done, All! Thank you, sir, for sharing your shows with us, they've given me much needed things to look forward to, and made my solitude of the last weeks less empty.
Brilliant show, especially the Melbourne production. The music flows, good storyline, stunnings sets and lighting. Plenty of drama and emotional scenes. I'm always spellbound while watching this production. Phenomenal
Being a phantom of the Opera fan never heard of Love never dies until years ago when I was able to watch it on RU-vid remarkable piece of musical theater and I loved on how the story if you haven't seen it please see it it's worth watching a highly recommended it
