I agree outside of Sarah Brightman and Dale Christien.. I'll agree with you.. In todays time.. I like Sierra very much.. Dale Christien and Sarah Brightman were best Christine back in the day though. Sarah the original.. Both worked with my favorite Phantom Michael Crawford who I always see as the phantom.. Ramine plays the heck out of the role in todays time. However Michael will always be the original.. :)
@@Ihdobevoli Ikr?? The first thought in my mind after watching LND was that the scores are pretty forgettable! I remembered hearing POTO's theme song for the first time and it immediately caught my attention! The music was replaying in my mind for the next few days too!
I LOVE how Sierra acts this scene! There's a moment after Raul leaves where she just comes alive...where Christine not only realizes who she loves more but WHY. She's singing that song not only for Erik...but HERSELF. It's what's she's always wanted: to sing. And she just bursts to life when she realizes this is what she actually wants. And that the Phantom's dream is her dream too. His music and her voice make a perfect combo...and she knows. I love it! Sierra just acts the hell out this.
Love that I wasn't the only person who caught that interpretation. Live your dreams! Follow your heart! Gives the entire crazy-ass plot more credibility with this performance. :)
@@EnreiReina It sure does! How actors interpret their characters totally changes a plot's perspective. How the actor sees the plot is how they will tell the story to the audience. Sierra gave Christine credibility to her love for the Phantom.
exactly what I thought the first time I watched this. Raoul is a golden cage trapping Christine to the earth, a cage that with time, loses its sheen and reveals itself to be nothing but cold hard rusty steel. Once Raoul leaves, Christine unshackles herself and soars to where she belonged (too bad she dies soon after). It is kinda ironic that for all the talk of manipulation and controls, the Phantom has always been the one who was truly able to set her free. Of course, much of it is due to the fact that the Phantom spent decades grooming her until she could never be content without music and beauty, something that Raoul was unable to provide her. Now I think of it, it is likely that Raoul became an unhappy alcoholic gambler because he knew that Christine was fundamentally unhappy with him and that there was nothing he could do. She wanted someone seventeen obedient and sweet and accidentally netted himself an angel. Then out of fear that she might fly away, he clipped her wings but was dragged down to the dungeons of his own despair. (The Meg personality change still made zero sense, and her mother's even less)
I was fortunate enough to see this on the West End, and without a doubt this was the stand out performance. Sierra embodies Christine perfectly, a role she was destined to play.
I've seen this video so many times.. and just realized the top of her dress resembles her Think of Me Costume with the beads hanging on her shoulders.. kinda fitting for her first and (spoiler) last performance...
Everyone's talking about her love for Erik, but I also think this is how she will remember Raoul. Her love for him won't die either, it's just Erik is her soulmate.
I’m kind of underwhelmed with her dress here. It’s beautiful for sure but I kind of wish they would have made it look as magnificent as the Australian version. Make it different, of course, but just as amazing. I do love her necklace though. Very shiny 😁
Yes, the Australian version has definitely better clothes and the stage is amazing, the props, the backgrounds everything. I wish it could be that amazing with the London version, since Sierra and Ramin are perfect for the characters.
Though I am not a fan of the dress as well, as it seems to wash out Sierra's complexion, the dress actually brings things to a full circle. The cut of her dress is the same as her dress in Hannibal/Think of Me. The dress in which Christine sings for her last song is the same (though different color) dress as the first time she sang. The dress that started it all. Love the necklace though. Love the Australian version's dress. But the symbolism and nod in THIS dress, is just subtle yet perfect.
As someone who was lucky to see the show before it closed I can say that the dress was better in real life than how it comes across on camera. It had hundreds of crystals on it and the colour was a little darker...it really was lovely. I think they wanted the necklace to stand out.
This is why I love Sierra more, she has the emotion. Anna O'Byrne do have an angelic voice, its clean and I really love her voice, I think more than Sierra but my Sierra, has this emotion every time, she understood the song and interpret it the way it should be. Sierras my Christine. if Anna only has the same emotions as Sierra..anyway I'm not here to argue, or what I love them both but still love my sierra a little more.
I think Anna was great. She was mature and also played low mood and anger well. Christine's life turned out the wrong way and noone would be jumping for joy in that case. The set looks very dull on the London one.
Sierras' voice takes you to that place, where grace and beauty come together; you are overwhelmed and you cry...Most wonderful gift that is shared with all of us.
Love the vocal talent. But it REALLY bugs me that everyone is always "She sang because she really loves the Phantom." When remember he said he would take her child away if she didn't. She didn't choose between Raol and Phantom, she chose her son. It wasn't even a competition, there was no uncertainty. As soon as he says he would steal her child she AND the Phantom knew she would sing.
Yes! Thank you!! I always find that a lot of people misinterpret their relationship which I think is because it was portrayed TOO WELL. The phantom always tricks her and the audience in the same ways.
I understand your statement, but when the Phantom found out Gustave was his. He told her to leave. Calling off what he had said. So she still chose between both men.
Wasn't it in the Australian rewrite where the whole kidnapping was introduced? (That would change a lot as that's the london version) I also think that she did it for herself. That she after 10 years of bad marriage had the opportunity to spread her wings ones more.
she came back for erik before she left with roul. plus erik has always been obssessive and a psycho. christine needs erik, love or not. you missed that part.
@@TheWiwiee Every single one of you twits who think a victim of lifelong abuse and slavery is nothing more than a "psychotic murderer" never noticed how fucking similar Raoul is to Edward Cullen. Yeah, that knight on a white horse asshole can fucking rot. Narcissistic abusers are the ones you try to leave but who end up burying you in the ground in the process. Literally.
I also love her wig as well. It makes her look very regal & mature. In the original, the different wigs they use are nice but I feel it’s more so to make them look young & innocent whereas here, as an adult she’s portraying, they needed a more mature look for her. The wig makers did a great job!!
@@MrsCurrant BEFORE SHE WAS KILLED OFF UGH I'm so mad with that decision like ALW really preferred to kill her off before letting Christine choose what to do. I feel that if this sequel was written by a woman it would've gone waaaay different.
@@mariajosem8659 exactly!!! I mean, she doesn't even had the chance to choose a life without Raoul or Erik. And Giry and Meg were so selfish in LND, ALW totally changed their personalities (at least that's not the personalities that I watched in POTO) btw, sorry for my english, it's not my native language hehe
@@MrsCurrant i know righttt!!!! ugh, what a waste of amazing music and amazing actors! And don't worry about your English, it isn't my native language either xd
My heart fills with so much emotion at 4.44 minutes. Sierra puts so much emotion in to her singing you can’t help but feel everything Christine is feeling.
I was able to see Love Never Dies in Atlanta a year ago. It is a show that I will not forget. Stunning. Sierra was gracious enough to take a picture with me that I will cherish .
Neal Schwartz that’s amazing, I was sure that Meghan Picerno was cast for the tour. Was it a special once-off performance? She was in Ever After the musical which was in Atlanta last year, maybe that’s what your thinking about...
I loved Ramin and Sierra in POTP but I’ve also grown to love Ben and Ana in Love Never Dies...Ana’s version on the filmed production was flawless...and oh gosh that dress she wore was phenomenal!
Australia had better props and costumes, but not better actors than London in my opinion... But at least this dress has symbolism from POTO Think Of Me and a blood bag. 😄 Ramin/Sierra alwaysss
Sierra is perfect in Phantom, but I prefer Anna in LND. I think Anna better captures the maturity Christine has in LND in the same way Sierra captures her innocence in POTO.
I love Sierra as Christine in The Phantom of The Opera but for me Anna did a great job in playing Christine in Love Never Dies. ❤ I love them both though.
Can you please upload the coney Island waltz and only for you? Saw the London production 7 Times, I much prefer it to the Australian production..... I wish they had released an official dvd of it.
I think it's more like they liked it too much. They knew that no one would be able to live up to Ramin and Sierra's performances and chemistry. So they changed it lol
In my own humble opinion, this show undos a lot of the themes and character development in the original that I really identified with and thought was really strong. The characters seem more stilted and seem to have regressed rather than grown which gives the story very little tension and interesting places to go. It's a bad fan fiction approach to storytelling.
Issues, it is the way they did with the characters. (the book is still an eye rolling too) Like Madame Giry, why did she complain at the start of the story said that no one was there for him after what it happen at the tunnel? When she was the one who told Raoul where to go into the tunnel. Christine, I do not know.... it just very odd.
I think it was a bit self indulgent of ALW..(and a bit unnecessary really..considering Christine was supposed to live to a good age in POTO) He said had written more music that didn't go into POTO...and it was a romantic whim of his. problems with the staging of the London show, couldnt be sorted properly because but he was quite ill with prostate cancer at the time, so the show in Austrailia had a much better production,so it was the one chosen to be filmed. I enjoyed it despite all that, but would have loved to see Ramin and Sierra in the show in London.
This is how you do it! No over done distracting background, a period accurate gown, hair, and necklace, and you let the actress present the song instead of trying to hide her in plain sight in a cheap looking 1980s bridesmaid style dress with a necklace that looks like it came from Claire's.
If you're referring to the Australian production I have to agree - that outfit/costume/hair makes her look like an extra is Masquerade / The Addams Family Musical. This is far superior.
That moment when Raoul left and she felt exactly how she did in POTO’s The Phantom of the Opera/Music of the Night (she sang about it to Raoul in the song Why Have You Brought Me Here/Raoul, I’ve Been There). She may have loved Raoul for his “prince on a white horse” charm, the love and security he could offer but she loved Phantom for seeing and believing the passion and the artist in her. Some people say they can’t understand why others are rooting for the Phantom despite his psychotic tendencies to kill and his inability to express his love in the right way, well this song is exactly why Christine chose Phantom, this and Beneath A Moonless Sky. There’s more to him. PS I actually love this dress more than the Aussie production’s.
i mean i can understand why christine was attracted to the phantom, but have to admit i still find it hard to root for her to end up with a psychotic murderer. neither raoul nor the phantom deserved her.
So happy to see these bootleg clips so that we have the optunity to know what was happened then on the original London Production. LND already evolve that much and we can still take a peek of what it originally looked like. This scene now already be a so blinking peacock stage. I love this show and never image to watch it live, but I am so luck to watch it live in Shanghai Cast 2023.
YES!!!!! SO.MUCH.EMOTION! SO MUCH SOUL IN HER TORMENT AND JOY! *tosses all other versions of Christine out of the window for this 'Love Never Dies' solo. All have the technical, operatic singing ability. So what sets apart really good actors from phenomenal? Heart. Soul. Physical energy. In your body, face and especially in your eyes. Strong enough to each thousands watching you. Bloody amazing, thank you so, so much for uploading this!
ohhh..really?! have you encountered an angel? have you heard an angel sing? if not? how dare you or anyone to compare her to angel? Haisst..people are just talking nonsense!!😂
When i first watched and listened to this song, i didnt much like it, but it has a way of growing into you..i now think it is my favorite, along with Till I Hear You Sing
I prefer this dress over the Australian Peacock Dress, I think Christine looks more angelic here with all those crystals on her dress, and I think that is more in line with how the Phantom sees her, she is his Angel of Music.
ohhh..have you heard an angel sing? or have you encountered an angel? if not, why do you even compare her to an angel? People are just uttering nonsense😂.
@@operaghost7381 Don;t know why in the london production there was only one kiss, that's before Christine died, so sad and unfair lol I saw the US Tour and they kissed serveral times.
The fact of: The Phantom of the Opera was a trauma for Christine cause she being obligated to sing for Raoul before being rapted and all ends like we know... And now, can sing again without afraid and feel free cause maybe she couldn't sing the same when she married and have her child. Sorry, my english isn't good but i try. Maybe not much people like this history, but i love it
I wonder what Love Never Dies would have been like with Micheal Crawford, Sarah Brightman, Steve Barton, performing it ten years after they they starred in Phantom?
As much as I hate to admit this, I prefer the dress from the awful version that was streamed that Anna O'Bryne wore. However, Sierra will ALWAYS be my favorite Christine.
