It was a year ago that my wife and I had the privilege to witness this performance at 54 Below. I’ve seen virtually every Broadway diva of the past 50 years, and I can tell you that Sierra Boggess has the most beautiful soprano voice I have ever heard. We also had the rare treat to meet Sierra briefly after her performance. She is as lovely and gracious as she is talented. Every note is heavenly and hers a smile that could melt ice in January.
OMG. This is Sierra's best performance of this song that I've ever seen. So much pain. So much sorrow. So much anguish! And then it all gradually turn into joy, passion and serenity. This is it, ladies and gentlemen. Sierra's got my heart.
I saw her in "love never dies"" in London, the show itself wasn't great shakes but she completely and utterly blew me away..3rd row orchestra seats...I couldn't believe my ears..;a truly exceptional talent
Sierra's majestic rendition of this song has always remained a personal favorite of mine. She just brings so much depth and a myriad of raw emotions to it. What a remarkable voice and talent.
Personalities like this, talent like this, make life worth living. She is an astounding singing talent but also a great actress - that combination makes her one of today's greatest musical performers and she is beautiful, funny and playful to boot. I'll never get bored listening to this heart-rending performance, and it will always make me weep with its truthfulness and authenticity.
I'm glad I wasn't there to witness it live, I would have bawled my eyes out and not stop. Whenever she sings this song or Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again I can't stop the tears from falling!! Sierra is truly an Angel of Music!!
Who knows when love begins Who knows what makes it start One day it's simply there Alive inside your heart It slips into your thoughts It infiltrates your soul It takes you by surprise Then seizes full control Try to deny it And try to protest But love won't let you go Once you've been possessed Love never dies Love never falters Once it has spoken Love is yours Love never fades Love never alters Hearts may get broken Love endures Hearts may get broken Love endures And soon as you submit Surrender flesh and bone That love takes on a life Much bigger than your own It uses you at whim And drives you to despair And forces you to feel More joy than you can bear Love gives you pleasure And love brings you pain And yet when both are gone Love will still remain Once it has spoken Love is yours Love never dies Love never alters Hearts may get broken Love endures Hearts may get broken Love never dies Love will continue Love keeps on beating When you're gone Love never dies Once it is in you Life may be fleeting Love lives on Life may be fleeting Love lives on
Sublime! I have been enjoying the videos of Sierra & Julian Ovenden singing at Feinstein's. A few of the videos are available to enjoy; could you please post their show promoting their new album. Thank You 54 Below!
And that will probably never change. My fiancee has a dream to one day play Cristine, a dream inspired by this women's pitch perfect performance. May never happen, but that's not what dreams are for.
Breathtakingly beautiful--one simply must say it: She IS the angel of music. She uses her incredible gift with gratitude and joy. Thank you, Sierra--! :)
She sang in a children's chorale growing up, and then went to University to get her BFA at Millikin. I can't figure out if she had voice lessons before she went to get her BFA, but one would assume she did as Millikin is a high ranking music theater school. Whoever told you she is not trained must have been joking. (Unless you're referencing the character of Christine?)
When she got the role of Christine way back in the day, she never had any opera lessons. Not sure about after that, but she is a trained singer. Just not a trained opera singer XD
Melissa McDonald actually, much of what she is doing here overlaps completely with classical/operatic vocal technique. It certainly isn’t entirely opera, but her voice is incredible and she could very easily sing opera if she wanted to. There is of course plenty of other training that she would need as well (specifically style and language training), but on the vocal front, she‘s like, 85-90% there. Of course, it’s obvious her love lies in musical theater and, regardless of what she sings, she’s incredible!
She ruined all past, present and probably future Christines for me😂❤ I don’t think i’ll see other woman plays Christine the way I see Sierra plays that role😭✌️🤍
