Yes that's true. I saw one on Facebook recently. They want to be friends and their English is a dead giveaway lol. I hope that more people catch on and realize that they're catfish.
Plus their accents too. I never fall for it cause I spend my money on me. They said they pick it up. from somewhere which is not true. I d id not fall for the IRS Scam. I got a text message about the IRS Scam. & they said were filing a lawsuit against me.. I totally laughed at it. & They said I had a arrest warrant? I am like IRS do not have arrest warrants. They are not law enforcement. I ignored it.
I'm glad you brought that up about looks! Realistically what's 30 year old guy wants a 56-year-old woman whether she's good looking or she's not! Common sense and logic would just tell me! I think the worst one I saw was a 56-year-old woman who was extremely overweight and not that attractive and never been married until she met a 21 year old Guyana man I believe.... and married him and the whole family was in on it! My heart really went out for her! She lost everything!
@@auntdiane1578 Yes, it does! Thank you for making people more aware of this issue! Personally I have no interest in dating. Trust is a big issue with me especially that I am older now. I have a lot of hobbies and interests to keep me busy! ✌️ I have quite a few friends that are on dating sites and I hear about is their nightmare stories! The best way to meet someone is to be introduced or just meet someone. Have a great day!
Thank you for this. I just like messing with scammers until they bore me. Then I block them and report their accounts. I don’t take kindly to scammers or liars.
I love your video, letting them know your on to them, when they ask you for money, say;"wow that's the same thing I was going ask you"! You have to know who in your league and who's not
You are telling the true and are funny too. I never got scammed by these people and i caught them within a very short time. One wanted to send me 500,000$ to purchase a house in Italy, lol...yeah, he wanted my phone number, address, name etc. Then he said how much money do you have in bank to go toward the purchase. Lol. Eventually, i told him that he was a scammer and he disappeared
I saw the video on the Social Catfish site of the husband who believed a young woman had fallen in love with him and he was planning to leave his wife who was right there by her husband’s side in the video talking to the “Catfished” staff. His wife told him it was a scam but he didn’t believe her….he did seem more convinced when Social Catfish exposed the scam for him. What was surprising to me was that his wife stuck by him and stayed with him even after he shunned and disrespected her for the prospects of having a younger woman. I can’t believe his cyber affair didn’t damage his marriage.
The wife is a very insecure, desperate, pushover to stay with a man that was trying to cheat on her. Too many women don’t think much of themselves and stay with men who offer them nothing in return but crap.
@@auntdiane1578 You are very welcome. I am an older person myself (63 and living in Ireland) but I work in the technology and media sector so savvy about scamming. I have watched the scammer episodes on Dr Phil and social catfish, and it just breaks my heart to see a lot of very sweet and genuine older people destroyed by the despicable actions of scammers. My late mum drilled the importance of being honest into us and made sure that we knew that money was not the sole route to happiness. The saddest thing about these scams is how the victims are broken, they often try to hide this when on the show but I feel that for many they will never get over the deception, never mind have the financial comfort in their old age that they had worked hard for all their lives.
What a lovely lady you are! Hello, I am like your age, and I have my shares of goodlooking young guys that suddenly are desperate to date a woman who obviously are like 40 years older. I have never lost any money. But I have had a lot of fun - I pretend I am blown away and in love, and then - boom- I tell them who they are and what they are doing. And they get really angry, and we are done. Very satisfying! 😄
Never tell the scammers that you know they are scammers!!! You only educate them and make them better scammers, and the next victim doesn't stand a chance! Have your fun and then disappear - I've done it several times but got fed up having to pay for international phone calls.
I always wonder what would happen if the woman in a online relationship would ask the scammer for money. As soon as they tell you that they are rich you come with a sob story and ask them for a lot of money.
Hello Diane, It is about time that someone has the guts to come on RU-vid and talk about catfish and scammers. You are so right in what your saying. I do the same thing that you do I play along with them. I let them get comfortable and we talk socially the best one that I get a kick is he you are talking for 2 or 3 days and they come out and say that they love you, I have to laugh, you are a very nice person and I enjoy and looking forward to hearing from you. Good luck on your channel I know you are going to do good because people need to hear these experiences.
I used to bait the IRS and Microsoft tech support scammers. I'd hold them on the phone for hours and made them believe I was a victim. They were so mad when they found out all their time was wasted lol I've heard from several scammers that they steal because "You people in the US are all rich". One even said "You live like Justin Bieber in a mansion" haha I wish! Most of those scammers are in India, and considering the currency exchange, even $1000 USD goes a very long way there. The people operating the phones don't keep the money - the bosses get it. The bosses are driving Lamborghinis and live in penthouses. It's sickening.
Wow. They really do think we're all rich, don't they? I've had some would-be scammers try that on me too. Sometimes I would let them think that...and keep them hanging. I love hearing that you do that too. I agree that it's sickening to hear that their bosses in India are living the high life. I have many more antiscam videos that I make weekly on this channel. There are also many other channels that feature this type of content as well. It's like we're all ganging up on the scammers, and I love it.
Great video. Thanks. Scammers also ask their victims to access their FAKE bank account to see a huge FAKE amount, and make some FAKE payments for them. By doing that, they scam their victim into thinking that they have a lot of money. When you video chat with someone, always make sure to ask them to do something live that you can see, such as wave at you or hop on one foot, just so you can ascertain whether or not it is the real person talking to you and not a pre-recorded video they stole online
You seem like such a kind lady and the way you say stuff is so funny 😆 I could listen to you talk for hours. I've been watching a ton of Social Catfish recently, I'm pretty sure that's why your video was recommended to me. I'm glad it was, I just subscribed. I don't know if you have seen Kitboga but he's my favorite scam baiter. He's really popular and hilarious. I don't think he's dipped much into love scams but he does a lot of tech support scams. He breaks down how they do the scams so you know what to look out for while at the same time driving the scammers absolutely nuts. It's a good time for sure 👍
Thank you Aunt Diane i have been watching romance scams for months now, at first it was something to watch until i realised the devastation of it all. I feel so sad for those people who have given all their money away. I play games online and am shocked at all the men who try to get you to set up a relationship with them on these games, fortunately i am not so trusting of a person who can't even be bothered to check google maps or in fact the english dictionary, or time zones, people just need to check everything and be aware.
I've been addicted to these catfishing videos for the last week or so it's so fascinating and you do start to see all the same patterns over and over like the oil rig and the military man. I really think I would catch on to all the spelling and grammatical errors those things jump right out at me. I'm lucky I met my husband through an ad I put on Craigslist he happened to live 2 miles away from me we're 6 months apart in age we met a few days after we started talking and every single thing about him was true. I call him my husband even though we got divorced last year we are back together now for almost 9 months and he's been amazing every minute of it I hope I never have to go online to meet anyone and I would never send anyone a penny you can't pay your bills that's your problem
Glad to hear you met a real man. Happy about you being back together ❤. I get catfish weekly online, even though I'm not looking to date lol. They're really pathetic. I hope everyone recognizes their ridiculous stories so they won't have any more success in ripping people off. Thank you for watching. I have true catfish attempt videos almost every week. 🐱🐟
The worst catfish story is a woman who went 7 YEARS paying out + never met the scammer. She sold everything + almost ended up homeless. So very sad 😞//Ladies, be wary online + never send money- ever! Be safe
Just found this. I totally agree with you. I’m 74 and would never fall this! I also watch Social Catfish also. Hope you make more video’s your easy to listen too and has a great sense humor.
Aunt Diane you are a girl after my own heart. I love doing these things to the scammers . Ive used different techniques and the results are hilarious . SOme of the ones you had mentioned i have used as well. We need so many people that can give people information on these awful people. I watch all the scambaiting shows too where they impart important info along with putting on an entertaining show too. GOd Bless
Just today, when a scammer claiming to be an underwater welder asked what I did, I responded “I’m an underwater hairdresser.” He didn’t even miss a beat, just kept scamming on!
Yes I have been watching these things for months and so, was prepared when I was contacted by one of these romance scammers. First of all his english was questionable. Secondly he avoided certain questions I would ask, and finally he asked that I send him two cell phones which he needed for his company. He was retiring and wanted to be with me as soon as possible. Really? I had a good time laughing then I became bored. Interestingly enough, he was supposedly close to my age. So sad for those who are lonely and get caught in the net of the scam.
Thank you for this I was scammed and they stole my identity because I corresponded with this person and believed it was trurly him but thank goodness my daughters work found out and we turned this all over to the authorities but he had already caused me hurt and damage I’m a disabled widow who should of known better but I’ve learned an important lesson through this it saddens me to know that such evil people exist in this world to hurt others so everyone please be careful because tgesw😢 scrammers don’t care by. God sees and knows all please stay safe.
Thank you for your comment. Your daughter was looking out for you, which is a good thing. Romance scammers target vulnerable people, and that's despicable. Scammers don't have a conscience, so we all have to be extra vigilant. Stay safe and God bless.
I've seen shows where they have told the woman the man she was talking to was not that man and the woman will not believe them, still going to send the scammer money! Crazy
A friend of mine is doing exactly this right now. She was attempting to get money from me to yesterday She was going buy a prepaid card at walmart, then give him the numbers. She's been sending money for a year and is one step away from homelessness
I just came across your site & really enjoyed your video. You seem to be a very nice person. I’ve “liked and subscribed” and thank you for sharing your thoughts. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Aunt Diane I am totally with you on this and subscribed to your channel. You might also like to take a look at Kitboga who scams scammers and is hilarious at the same time. He has computer skills that allows him to get pics of scammers and make them see his bogus bank account with over a million dollars.
@@auntdiane1578 I was hit with a barrage of calls at work from people who were duped into wiring money to other countries to sell their timeshare located in that country. They did so despite their bank warning them they were being scammed by just going to western union to send money out. That's how I got interested in scammers and. found that the largest numbers of scams involve romance scams. In my work situation I was able to stop people from sending more money by having them speak to the building manager who confirmed there was no such real estate company in their building despite what their site claimed. As far as Romance scams I think social media should do more to warn people they could be being romanced by a Nigerian con artist and no matter what don't buy gift cards for them.
Absolutely. No legitimate business would ask for gift cards. And banks and Western Union should have stricter rules for sending money overseas. The scammers have even infiltrated social media. It's so frustrating. But we will keep educating the public to protect the vulnerable. Thank you for your input. It's much appreciated. 👍
That would be fun, BUT please be careful to use different emails, different phone numbers etc. I'm even afraid to do certain things. You could get a scammer who is good at hacking computers, smartphones etc. And he could do real damage. Your safety should come first. 🙏❤
I get friend requests on Facebook and accept..waste their time and then report them. Oil rig workers, military men, medical.. oh yes...I believe them with their poor English.not..😂
Thank you. Actually, I didn't get any ideas from them, except to make the situations humerous. I admire them, but I don't have the guts to do half the stuff they do. I find them very funny and smart. 😎
@@auntdiane1578 that’s awesome!! I love hearing your ideas of making them humorous! I love asking them specifics on their job like if they say they are on an oil rig, ask them about the ship they are on (completely opposite haha)
Having heard so many of these stories, you can spot the signs. I received several attempts that had the signs. One was a guy who found me on Instagram and suddenly he needed me to send him money to pay his phone bill. I ended the call and eventually blocked him but before I did that he burned my phone trying to get me to talk to him. The second one was “military” who was widowed and had a small child. He also was getting ready to go on a top secret mission. I removed him right away.
That's good. Those are common scenarios. I get so upset when these idiots scam vulnerable people, and I hope that one day they are all put out of business. I know it's impossible, so the anti-scam RU-vid channels just try to educate the public. Thank you for your comment!
Yes, they're in the military fighting for our country! I believe some are Dr. 😂 I feel sorry for the people that take their identities and their pictures! I had had this happen to me many times especially on tick tock I just block them and reported them! ✌️
Damn how true is it for a military lieutenant wants to send his package to you and you pay the custom fees so he could come home and he's my Facebook friend and messenger how does that work
What people need to realize is.. Unless your physically invested in a permanent relationship. They're problems are not your problems. If you can't support your kids, buy a phone etc...not my problem. Love bombing doesn't work for me. I don't like charming people or those who fall in love in days, weeks or months. I have enough since to research policies and protocols for military, oil rigs etc....
I can relate to all you are saying..I deal with POF scammers almost daily and I had to school my friend who had no clue about all the scammers tell to make their self believable. Hopefully she ( in her 70s) heeds my advice. Those dating site scammers are so fake I can't imagine anybody falling for it, but they do. And I feel so victims who have so much. The scammer that messed me up was a coworker..a real person that I know for a fact his background..I knew his parents..they dont know their son like they think they do. But one thing you said that's was so true, is these scammers using pictures being a 10 and coming after some old woman..i never get the 10s ( I'm 67) I get the dorky looking guys..I have not had one scammer yet use a picture of what i think is a good looking guy..bummer! But i play with them too like you did telling them you are where they are or something else that messes with their mind. And then they realize they screwed and vanish..i think I'm getting addicted to screwing with scammer heads..lol
Thank you for your comment. And yes, sometimes scammers might be real people who you know. I think dating sites should do a more thorough check before they let someone put up a profile.
I have a friend travelled to Korea from Australia to meet his online lover. 20 years younger and a professional. Waiting to hear what happened once he landed in Soeul. this is his 4th scam over a few years that I know of.😢
Good video. Scammers can’t get me! Ever since my divorce over 30 years ago, I have remained single and loving it. No online singles or dating sites, very little social media. I think it would be fun to scam the scammers, but as I said, I’ve never visited any site where they would hang out and I never will.
That's awesome. We can stay off social media or ignore strange friend requests. But I'm so glad to see that more people are resisting scammers, catfish, etc. Even with artificial intelligence, the fake videos are obvious, to be viewed for a good laugh. Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you for this. I had and meet them on Facebook. Once they start asking you for 💰 ore stream cards itc. They love you Even they don't know you!!! You can recognize them easily only when you pay attention....
Fantastic report on scammers.. we get them cold calling us every day but just put the phone down as soon as you hear the accent from out of Europe.. keep up the good work.. Greetings from the uk
Thank you for your positive view on this subject. I watch Scamfish and I always see people commenting on how stupid some people are, and how ugly they are. It’s just hateful and mean. Thank God, I have never dealt with those scammers, but under the right or wrong circumstances, anyone can fall victim. The scammers are wrong, and their victims should not be further victimized by the insulting and hateful comments left of these channels.
Scamfish (what a dumb name) is the RU-vid channel made by a company called Social Catfish (also dumb name.) They’re a for-profit business, not a social service agency. Not that there’s anything wrong with their being a business, but the reality matters. They exist as a business to make money, not a social service agency. These RU-vid videos are a tool for getting people to join their site, for a fee. These “investigations”cost hundreds-to-thousands of dollars. Again, they saw a business opportunity and jumped on it. There’s nothing wrong with that. Just so you know, as it’s stated on their site: they have access ONLY to publicly available records. We all can see the records and info they use. It’s up to each to decide if it’s more empowering to search these photos, names, unlikely-to-bombastic scenarios themselves, or pay a business to do this stuff. And it’s called search, not “research.” There is a difference.
I know that story of the Aunt Diane that killed her daughter and three nieces. Her son was the only one to survive. The toxicology showed she had alcohol and marijuana intoxication. The husband and sister-in-law are unable to accept the results. It was a really sad story. You don’t have to change your RU-vid name. She was not the only Aunt Diane.
It's okay, since it's also my name on Instagram. Aunt Diane was taken, and it was January and I was 57 years old at the time, which is where the 157 comes from.
You are doing brilliant ! I too have had scammers galore ! I never succumb , but what fun it is winding them up until they believe I’m sending £3.000 but hey I don’t 😂 Well done girl Keep ur coming on ! Love from London UK
Sending money to a person you dont know is beyond me. Some women even carry on after the scammer has been outed ! The one woman was donating blood in order to send The Nigerian more money as she had run out of money !
I’ve had plenty of scammers try but I’ve only lost 40.00 in I tunes cards because it was his birthday. He sent me a photo of a man in a nice frame and a picture of myself on a bath towel.
They hacked my first Facebook! I never would send 💰. First what kind of gentlemen would aask a lady for money Yes Social media brought lot of friends together!! There lot of good people out there!!!! Greetings to you! Yes we can lurn from eachother.... Stay well
I really do not mean this to sound rude, so please understand this. Before anyone either joins a dating site or enters into conversation with someone she/he doesn’t know who sent them an unsolicited introduction on any site, it is IMPERATIVE to know how to use any-of-many FREE reverse image searches, and how to use Google to look up the name the person claims. If any scenario sounds unlikely: working on oil rig and having funds “frozen,” MD (they usually refer to this in scammer world as “surgeon doctor,) military asking for money for things covered by military, and so many more, one must Google the scenario and please discuss (what you’re being asked to do) with family and friends whom you trust. Social Catfish/Scamfish is NOT a social service agency; it’s a business. They charge to use their reverse image search, which anyone online can do for free. They have a monthly subscription fee, again, to look up things can anyone can do free of charge. When they take the cases you see in their YT channel, these people, who have already been scammed into giving away money, then pay Social Catfish to “research.” It is clearly stated in their site that they “research” using publicly-available resources only. They have no more skill or talent or resources than anyone else with online access. Essentially, they’re just another scam. If you don’t know how to do these simple searches (it’s a search, not “research,”) please learn how to do these things.
True. I recently found this out. A Google search is free. And if they don't speak good English, or say they're working overseas, 99% of the time, it's a scam.
@@auntdiane1578 the main thing about these scammers is they always ask you to move to Google hangouts or whatsapp. Let that be your 1st red flag. Use your brains people.
If anyone reading this does not know how to access (or use) a reverse image search, FREE, please tag me and comment here. I will gladly give step-by-step instructions and, if you feel like it’s overwhelming to do this, I’ll do it for you. Nope, I don’t want your personal information and I would never charge anyone a cent. IDK if it’s okay to tell me email it phone number here, but don’t spend hundreds on things that can be done for free. Social Catfish is just another scam.
@@auntdiane1578 English is the official language of Nigeria. As in USA, there are many Nigerian dialects. I’ve been far-too-many USAmericans who do it speak very well, and are quite bad at writing English.
Online dating is stupid and a waste of time and money. May I remind everyone the internet was invented in the late 1970's as a way for scientists who lived in different geographic areas to collaborate on research. The internet was never intended to substitute for face-to-face human interactions. Yes. Meeting people takes time and effort. You can't sit passively behind a computer screen and hope to meet anyone. Get off your ass and away from the computer and mingle with humanity. It's good for you and helps build interpersonal skills.
I wouldn't online date again, but it seems to work for some people. But a mysterious stranger from another country? If I don't meet them face to face, they don't exist.
Not necessarily. The internet can be a great way to meet new people, especially if you lack the natural places to meet someone in real life or struggle with social anxiety. It all depends. I met my husband online and we have been together for almost 10 years now and I know several people that are in happy and healthy long term relationships in person with someone they initially met online. Times are different now.
@Sarah-rh5kf i I met my husband that way too. The problem is that these newer apps make it too easy for scammers nowadays. There should be stricter standards for verification of people when they sign up. It would be great if real people actually met other real people who were as lucky as you and I were ❤🤗
No trouble using the 'D' word at the end, there! 😄 I'm so glad you didn't just chop off the end of the video. This video turned up as a RU-vid suggestion on the sidebar of a Rinoa Poison scambaiting vid I'd been watching. I'm glad I checked it out, it was very enjoyable.
They can now use video chats with certain APS to make it appear you are chatting with them according to a Ukrainian woman who was catfished. Social Catfish found the person whose identity was stolen,, but she had a difficult time believing that because of their video chats.
Yeah, the scammers are getting more sneaky. But sometimes the mouth moving doesn't match the words, so the scammers probably edit them to match. But the anti-scam community will keep fighting 💪. Thank you for watching.
A lot of scammers also use what I call frontmen to scam their victims: they pay men in the US, Canada or what ever the relavant Western country is, to chat to the victim on their behalf - in return for a percentage of their "earnings", ie the money that the victims send them. I've experienced this several times.
I feel sorry for the family of the victims, who often end up paying the price as well. They often have to take in the ruined family member, or have to bear the cost and grief of funeral services in the event of a suicide, or they end up inheriting the debt left by their family members who was scammed. Now bear in mind I don’t pity family members who willfully neglected said family member who was the victim of a scam, but for those who are busy with a family of their own (spouse, children, house, career, pets, etc.) or for those who tried to stop the family member from sending money to the scammer and were ignored or the whole thing was kept secret from them, I do pity them. Sadly, for the family members who try to stop their loved ones from being scammed, often they can’t do anything unless they can hire a qualified lawyer to help them, a qualified doctor to declare the victim family member of unsound mind, and they have to use that to convince a judge to grant the family members power of attorney in order to stop their family member from sending money to the scammer, and that costs lots of time and money the family often doesn’t have.
The more publicity these scammers get, the better! I think there are very simple failsafes that are invaluable, if people used them, they wouldnt get to the point of checking out photos half the time! but people just seem reluctant to use them. If you are on a dating site...why on earth would you even communicate in the 1st place with anyone that doesnt live anywhere near you?..thats a really good initial clue for a scammer..if somewhere from miles away responds to them, a scammer knows one thing about you...that you are probably not too genuine about actually meeting someone, you are more interested in a bit of flattery and some chat..a good mark! Im glad you mentioned scamfish, their videos are very informative..we can all look at these people & say 'oh i'd never do that1'...but these people are professional con artists..you probably arent..so theres no shame in being taken in..but please at least put in a few unbreakable guidlines before you decide to respond to anyone you dont know. think about the last time you dated face to face...imagine going on a 2nd or 3rd date with a guy you really liked...if during that 3rd date he'd asked you to lend him $500 what would your reaction have been? Thats how you need to think. oh and one last failsafe...the minute someone calls you 'my queen'...block them! no arguing, no debating, no explaining, just block.
@@auntdiane1578 I think its so important to interact & 'read' people as if they are in front of you. People are people, even if they're behind a screen. if someone sounds like theyre talking b*$$ocks, then they probably are! i wish dating sites had more warnings when you sign up. Apparently some are getting better, but it should be mandatory. Same with banks, a lot of those are getting better at spotting possible scam victims.
I get contacted by a lot of scammers. This is what I say from the beginning: Before we start talking there is something that I need to say and I say this with all due respect. If you are really someone who is using a fake name and someone else's images and are planning to chat with me nicely for any length of time and then ask me for money for any reason forget about it. I've had this happen to me sooooo many times it isn't even close to being funny! I have no money and even if I did I would NOT send it to someone I didn't know personally. So if you are from Nigeria, Ghana, or any other similar place this needs to end here and now. I hope you understand where I am coming from and how I certainly don't want to waste anyone's precious time, especially mine!
I tried that, not with money scammers but visa hunters as I seemed to get targeted more by visa hunters than money scammers for a while. Outcome: I attracted even more visa hunters...
Iv had celebrity ones on Facebook they r a celebrity and on tour and this n that but celebrity that were famous in 2000 or 90s and haven’t been on scene but are verified
I gotting messages like that playing my wheel of fortune games online. Telling me about oil nonsense and how they lost their wife and live with their son. I respond back OK. Because I know its total BS.
I guy said he was in the military. And said he need money, I pulled up the website and the army gave the rules are n a leave. I told the guy why is he trying to scam me. He told me he was in Afghanistan and then he told me he was in Africa and trying to get to the states.
Enjoyed your video! I had fun with it once w a person I knew was a scammer … I asked where ru located? Orlando. Great! So am I! What part of city? Downtown. Great so am I! I’ll meet you at so and so coffee shop. In reality I live in Seattle and never been to Orlando … but knew I was speaking to someone in another country and they wouldn’t know. Wasted 45 mins of their time before they disappeared! Lol
I get calls claiming to be from Social Security, IRS of which they do not call you unless you request a call back and there is procedure to follow. I am 65 and get friend requests claiming to be from young women of which I do not accept their request.
Good. I'm glad that you were suspicious. I get those calls from fake ssa and fake medicare all the time. Even if the scammer can make the caller id show the ssa number, these two organizations won't call out of the blue. The same goes for the IRS. I just read a bunch of bank fraud stories, which I will be talking about soon.
@@auntdiane1578 Perhaps you could tell me why Social Catfish's website is banned in my country. It says it's because they don't comply with WDPR laws - I'm in England btw. This of course means they're in breach of the Data Protection Act. Sometimes it's good to remember the old saying "Let the Buyer Beware"! Romance Scams and how to keep safe online is a really good scambaiter channel. The lady who does it really scrambles the scammer's brains, just by exposing their ignorance. For technical support scammers, Kitboga is unique and a complete master, love him. '
Oh no. That's not fair. I wasn't aware of that. Unless it's some sort of odd copyright law or something like that? I am going to try to find out for you.
@Mim Moon. I was very curious myself, and also wanted to find an answer for you so I decided to check it out. On a general Google search, there are mixed reviews of Social Catfish on both Reddit and the BBB (Better Business Bureau in the U.S.). Then I tried to go into the website myself, and they wanted my information, so I backed out of it. I personally find the show educational as to what to beware of, but I only watch it on RU-vid for free. I would not pay to trace down a picture that I can do for free on a Google reverse image search. I automatically suspect everyone anyway nowadays. I still watch the episodes on RU-vid, because I feel bad for the victims and want to see a resolution, although they rarely, if ever, see their lost money again. With that said, there may be laws from certain countries that don't allow users to enter the site. If I were you, I would google "reddit free alternatives to Social Catfish search". It is a subject that is often discussed there. Even if you're not a member of Reddit, you will probably find that others have inquired about free searches to verify people's pictures. Good luck and please let me know how it turns out.
@@auntdiane1578 Thanks for going to so much trouble. I've always been suspicious of that site, specially when one of the "victims" admitted that the texts from the scammers were what Social Catfish had written, she had shown no texts to them. So, me, being the nosey cow that I am, did a bit more searching. I went on the US equivalent of our cyber complaints sites and found so many complaints from people who had contacted them. Yes, there were some praising them highly, but when you think logically, who is going to message a Complaints site with praise. They do so many clickbait titles too. I know exactly what WDPR laws and The Data Protection Act is btw. Anyway, as I said, thanks for going to the trouble of replying to me. I don't like to see women's intelligence insulted, which is what Social Catfish seem to do. You will see in the comments, there are very few commentors who feel any pity for the victims. Much prefer Kitboga and the men who go after male scammers! All the best now, take good care. Good thing you didn't give social catfish your info though. Very Wise. - for obvious reasons. xx
Luv you aunt Diane, you remind me of me. I'm an average looking 65 year old gal from Tampa. Isn't it the truth, if it looks to good to be true it probably is! Word!
Yeah these Romance scams are so out of control. Every day I’m getting a message from a random Nigerian guy proposing marriage saying how deep in love he is with me.🙄
Oh yes, and they come up with excuses, which are not believable. One scammer put a different guy's face that did not match his words. I'm not looking for anybody, and would never do so online if I was. Some vulnerable people believe the excuses and the photoshopped person in the picture holding up a sign saying "I love you". Ugh, it's annoying. I can't stand to see people being scammed. So everyone that does anti-scam content helps to get the message across, even my little channel. 😊
OMG. That is very upsetting. War crimes going on, victimizing innocent people. I dread the news, but we can't close our eyes. I continue to pray that this stops ASAP 😪
Oops. I was thinking of war injury from Ukraine. Now I realize it was a scammer showing someone else's injury, pretending it's him. For all we know, it could be a Ukrainian injury the scammer got from the news.
hi there, I'm an older gal too! A friend of a friend got scammed, from these romance scammers, its amazing no one could convince her, it was a scam! She kept sending these scammers thousands, she sent them all her life saving, he told her he a Prince, yea right ! Any, thank you, I agree with you, really enjoyed your video, do you play the guitar? wish I did. Good Day.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I hope your friend has stopped falling for these scams. I played guitar and piano when I was younger, stopped for years, then started again last year. I don't intend to stop this time. I have a long way to go, however, before I can be considered "good" at playing. There are many great free guitar lessons on youtube. 😀🎸🎵
Great show. They don't care how the victims get their money. One asked me for 1,000.00 pounds because his multi million dollar business would be lost 😂😂😂 six years ago when I was in hospital because I became paralysed and other health issues. I said I don't have it. I'm not working. He said ask a friend or get a loan which I would not. This person was from India saying he was a guru and his prayers would get me to walk. I'm still in the wheelchair six years on lol. Xxx
I'm sorry to hear that. We have to beat those creeps at their own game, which is why all the youtube anti-scam channels exist. I admit I am the new guy on the block, but I am passionate about this cause, as are the other youtube anti-scam creators. I hope you will stick around, as there is much more to come. I am so glad you said no to this scammer. Prayers for your healing and comfort 🙏❤
@@auntdiane1578 awww. Thank you so much. You are a lovely lady. I will be watching your shows. I wouldn't miss them. I watch as many scammers programmes as I can. Much love. ♥️🌹💕🌹♥️ Xxx
my sister almost got scammed. what i like to do is when i m chatting with scammer. I ask them for gift cards. they mostly think i m a scammer. they send me their real pic
Good job. Recently my Bestie has been doing on line dating. POF. Stuff she has said to me about her experiences shocked me and were beyond red flags. I started to stalk her DATES. to try to keep her safe, starting with first last names of these dudes then checking the public court records, where they lived worked etc...reverse search on all photos phone numbers. It is a good thing tonight because Jackie her date from the last night had a long criminal record the most recent charges were stalking/fear of life and death and assault. He had been found guilty stalking assualt attempted murder of a women he was dating in his town. He served 1 year in prison. He had just gotten out. He also had a string of DUI sand suspended licenses. I could go on telling these things we have under covered. These stories are for the most part, are local men not Nigerian or Indian scammers, stories since starting doing this for her are...unbelievable but so far has kept her safe.
