I saw Free at Manchester University in '71 or '72. I was right at the front, crushed against the stage. Fraser and Koss had 4 Marshall stacks each! My ears were ringing for 3 days afterwards. It was, and remains, the best concert I ever saw. My favourite singer, guitarist, bassist and drummer. Raw music. Never to be forgotten.
Gibson finally gave Paul some well deserved recognition by releasing the VOS Kossoff Les Paul, this is such an awesome tribute to the very best blues/rock guitarist ever. RIP Paul you moved and inspired many!
Paul Kossoff and Andy Fraser - two of the greatest lead guitar and bassist ever to grace the music industry - sadly taken too soon, but the music lives on!!!!!
Very Touching dedication, to The late Paul Kossoff The band certainly never forgot him, wrote many songs in his memory, not forgetting Andy Fraser who left us too soon, did some remarkable charity work for abused children just before he left us. R I P .
Free - simply one of the best 70's bands! For me they are in the same league as Jimmy Hendrix, and the Rolling Stones. Magical, and brings a tear to one's eye - such good lyrics - expertly sung with such emotion by Paul Rodgers. Paul Kossoff strangling such beautiful sounds out of the Gibson Les Paul! Simon Kirke with every single drum pitch tuned to perfection - and all held together by the magical bass of Andy Frazer!
All things considered - best rock band ever. Each member performed at an unexpected level. They were young and on top of their game. Listening now, and looking back, I still am in awe, and sad that they're gone. My kids don't know what they missed. But their music is timeless and that's no joke. I hate to be disparaging but Free made Kiss, BTO, etc. limp "pop" sound feeble and took the wind right out of the Rolling Stones and Led Zepp 's sails. Glad I was alive.
mweb9 hit the nail right on the head. Free was miles above all of them. My all-time favorite band. And that's coming from a 22 year old. Glad I was exposed to this music at a young age.
GIBSON GUITAR COMPANY DIDN'T KNOW IT AT THE TIME,BUT THE GIBSON WAS MADE FOR PAUL KOSSOFF'S HANDS,HE IS A LEGEND,THEY WILL BE LISTENING TO THIS 200 YEARS FROM NOW,AGREEING WITH US ON HIS TALENT
saw Free in a concert at Birmingham Town Hall around 1970,/71, watching this video brought back wonderful memories of a great band. Rest easy Paul Kossoff you will always be remembered by true music fans everywhere.
just a few more days and it will have been 32 years since pauls untimely passing.when all these tv shows talk of talent i think back to free, talent they wouldnt know it if it bit em in the arse,r.i.p. mr kossoff
It is sad that Free did not enjoy prolonged success as it may have saved Paul Kossoff. I feel that their quality would have dipped eventually. Look at Bad Company. I think Andy Fraser was absolutely spot on when he felt that Paul Rodgers "cashed in his chips too soon". Commercial success, yes. Consistent songwriting? Not so much. I feel that in the 60 or so songs on the first six Bad Company albums, you could make one great album, and one good one. I now prefer listening to the Koss solo albums and the two BSC albums as they are more like the soul of Free. Free were special and just too good to last. It does not matter now though. The music speaks for itself. I have been listening to Free for four decades. The only Led Zeppelin song I ever listen to is 'The Battle Of Evermore', and that is mainly because of Sandy Denny.
beautiful sad song, love free a lot, i won't cry maybe i should of the heartbreak i have suffered with over the years, paul rodgers with a magic performance his voice special. awesome free song.
Those were the days. Those were the days. Like someone else posted on another Free vid; makes you wanna take a trip back in time and hear it all again. Live. Once more. Koss had the gift to make that guitar speak to you. Cry out.
Don't want to go just yet, but this will be played at my funeral party. What a song!!Cant help thinking off Koss. What a band. And by the way, before I go, I'd love to say I love you so.🎸
Lucky enough to see Paul Rodgers twice now at 31, but free made me pick up a bass. Andy fraiser will always be number 1. 15 years ago and Fraser was my idol. This song gives me goosebumps
Rest in peace, Paul :( I love "Highway" because all tracks are magnificent and they are very sweet, too. Free are, in my opinion, the most underrated band of Blues Rock music! They are so fuckin' great! Even if i'm just a young girl of sixteen, I can say that I love them with all my heart. They are a band that made me grow a lot. Thank you, Free!
Plaintive, beautiful song, Kossoff's playing on all the early albums will stand for time immemorial. One of the true geniuses of the electric guitar. May you serenade the angels as you did those on earth. Sleep restfully.
On March 23rd 1976 I saw Man at Newcastle City Hall. At the end the DJ Andy Dunkley came on and said - 'How about a big hand for Man - and I've got announcement to make - someone that a lot of you have seen on this stage died earlier today - Paul Kossoff. Paul Kossoff was - and still is - God in the North East. We all stood there silent after this announcement and there were girls crying - a really sad moment.
Hey, just saw on WIkipedia that Koss is interred at Golders Green Crematorium. That's just down the road from me. Think i'll pop in there this week and pay respects from us RU-vid lot. He was only 25 RIP.
Cud you do me a favor and put a flower on Kossof's place at the cemetary on my behalf, as i'm living in a foreign country think i will never made it to the Golders Green. thx in advance
Take the song and apply it to your life; people you've lost. I have it. Makes me wanna cry. I need to adjust my Will to include play some Kossoff songs at my funeral. Kossoff was connected to something that jerks it out of the rest of us when we hear his wailing guitar and the lyrics. Geezers like me feel it.
it¨s crazy that my friends hate Free... i´ve listened to FREE since i were 10.. But back then i only listened to "all right now" and "fire and water".. Free are Truely my favourite band overall.. Not even Kyuss is better. Love Free AND Paul. He have inspired me and my guitarr playing alot.

Hi, the clip shown is from a DVD called FREE-FOREVER FREE. A large amount of FREE clips on RU-vid seem to be taken from it.Lots of footage of Free, and interviews with band members and Pauls brother Simon Kossoff,if you are a Free fan you will definately enjoy.Free, one of the best Rock/Blues bands ever, utter perfection.
toon ,you hit the nail in the head mate ,they brought a lot more to the table ,for me the best free honest band who weren,t competeing against each other as musicians ,very much a band ,and what a voice .Mate you know your oinions {and im smashed lol}fair play .
I know how you feel, I hate when entertainment shows don't bother to mention anniversary's of some of the greatest rock gods of all times deaths. Such as; Paul Kossoff, Bon Scott, Jimi Hendrix, Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and so many others. Bon Scott's death went without any mention, and I highly doubt if Paul Kossoff's gets any recognition.
