It's strange that you would question whether or not they are actually the musicians behind this, but I guess that's the music industry today, especially in the US. If you seriously have any doubts, go and react to their live performance of Holy War from Tokyo Zepp DiverCity in 2020 for starters. Then you will doubt no more. This is the best band around today.
I disagree. The extreme "strangeness" of actually questioning if they play the music can NOT be explained away by "but I guess that's the music industry today". For that to be the case, I would need examples of bands actually doing something like that. And there are none. I would just book it under "this dude is a misogynist" and not try to make excuses for him. Or do you think he would question if they play the instruments for real if it was a male band?

Miyako (dark hair) plays her signature Dean guitar and both Miho (bass) and Midori (blond hair) play ESP guitars. Drummer Haruna plays Pearl drums. You need to watch their live videos to see how good they are. There’s also videos of Midori and Miyako playing at NAMM in 2020. Japan has an incredible music scene with a lot of all female rock bands that you should check out, like Nemophila, BAND-MAID, Mary’s Blood, etc.

I'd highly recommend checking out one of their live releases to see what they can really do on stage! Trust me...you won't be disappointed! Midori (blonde ponytail) is a Guitar Institute of Technology grad (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gibert, etc.). She endorses ESP Guitars. The model she's playing here is an ESP E-II Horizon (I have one myself). Miyako (dark hair) is a classically trained concert pianist from the age of three. She decided to pick up guitar as she got a bit older. She's endorsed by Dean Guitars. The "V" she's playing here is a guitar Dean built specifically for her. When i 1st saw their vid and i had zero hesitation stating - ok, another Japanese all-female band that kick ass. And last, but not least -- LOL - only Japan produce those high quality female shredding bands that make males look as students compared with their guitar skills )

We are supposed to be Proto-Mongolian type and some of us look a lot like Native Americans. Asami's blue eyes are just colored by computer work I guess. Have a good one.

You don't have to ask yourself more questions than that, this group of ladies is in my opinion the greatest metal band of the moment, to say the least... Those who know metal and have an ear for it know it... You will understand this as you discover their titles in the future
I know it is hard to imagine someone so talented but they are. You have to see them play live if you still have any doubt it is really them. A lot of music videos, of all bands, are in slow motion or the scenes show band members who aren't playing during the video. But these ladies are absolutely the musicians playing in this video. They are from Japan yet they sing in English and are a relatively new band, formed in 2016. They won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new metal band. Midori and Miyako, the two guitarists, are among the best in the world. They are on the rise so please spread the word because they are pretty much unknown to the rest of the world. They did tour in the UK with DragonForce in 2019 and will again soon I am sure. @@mattcriscuolo1541 They've all been playing music since early childhood - Miyako (playing her red Dean signature guitar) started piano at 3, and switched to guitar at 18. She's also responsible for most of the band's compositions. They are *all* multi-instrumentalists.
You have just watched a video by Lovebites probably one of the best LIVE bands out there. Whatever they record in the studio sounds louder, heavier and more brutal when they play live. Asami's (vocalist) voice sounds fuller, richer and louder when recorded in an auditorium than in the studio. Lovebites are definitely the real deal. The fact that they look like supermodels on the catwalk and play a full 90 minute plus gig, playing their instruments, moving around the stage, headbanging and changing the pedals on their effects boards wearing four inch high heels and do not break sweat says it all. I can't image any male band doing that. I would put them up against any male metal band and I think they would probably slay the opposition with their technical ability, songwriting skills and live performance. And no tattoos, no multiple piercings, no ragged jeans and T-shirts, no gurning while soloing, no drug or alcohol problem. Lovebites' members are not girls they are five well-educated, sophisticated women, all around thirty years old, who are also insanely talented musicians at the top of their game and play metal for the love of the music.

You mentioned their instruments and Miyako, the guitarist on the right is a signed artist with Dean Guitars, but she sometimes plays a beautiful old Les Paul Goldtop. She is also a classically trained pianist. Midori the other guitarist and Miho play ESP guitars. They do play these songs and there are a number of their live videos on RU-vid. They are excellent musicians and they can play like this live. If you are interested in seeing them live, watch Holy War, or any of the others. This is a Music Video, they are mimicking their parts in sync with their studio recording with the exception of where the video's director altered for effect. The guy in the video represents humanity struggling with the recent pandemic, lifting himself (at the transition from individual guitar solos to the guitar-harmony-duet) and overcoming through the 'light' of self-love. The individual solos followed by a harmony-duet is a 'signature' feature of almost all LOVEBITES songs. Drummer Haruna wears red sneakers when playing the relentless precision dbl-kick, like this, for full hour&45min performances, then changes to heels for the taking a group-bow to the audience at the end of their live shows. Haruna is 4'9" and vocalist Asami is 4'10"

Background: Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. I don't blame you that you have a doubt if they really are playing 'cause they don't ware dirty T-shirts and leather pants, tattoos and piercing all over.....but, surprisingly, they are a rare band who plays better in live than studio recording. Try live "Five of a Kind" at Zepp Diver City Tokyo 2020, or live "Daughters of the Dawn" 2019, or studio live "Awakening Again from Abyss". They also play really nice ballads too, they are in the live 2019. The guitar on the blond guitarist is a ESP and the other on the dark haired guitarist is her own signature guitar of Dean. Regarding the video with the guy with the marks and "blemishes" on his face, it isn't dirt or acne, it is blood. He is being depicted as suffering the Stigmata. The Stigmata is a paranormal phenomenon where people display the wounds of Christ - bleeding hands, feet, forehead. In Catholicism, it is regarded as a symbol of someone being in deep personal, and especially spiritual crisis. The main focus of this song is to give encouragement to those who have suffered through the pandemic, to help each other out of grief and depression, so the use of the stigmata is probably meant to reflect that the entire world is in crisis (plus, they wanted to add in some Christian and gospel elements to the music, lyrics, and visuals to pay tribute to blonde-guitarist Midori's recent visit to the US, where she was introduced to live gospel music at several black southern gospel churches) - note, her interest is more in the passion of the music, and the style of gospel music itself, not so much in Christian theology; they are not a Christian band.
