The lead singer Asami is from a soul and Rn'B background. When the band founders discovered her and invited her to join the band she knew absolutely nothing about metal, but she knew more English than the other members, and Miho the group leader and ex-bassist felt that singing in English would help the band progress. Asami writes all the lyrics, many of which have a really positive message. A perfect metal band with highly talented members. Slamming hard and fast starts in almost all their songs (60's) is their signature. They appear in white dresses just to be different from normal metal bands that wear black, tatooed, pierce rings etc. Also write their lyrics in good words, uplifting, meaningful, good messages, all in english. Granted, they are the "elite" tip of the iceberg, but several of the female bands over there are very close to Lovebites' skill level. I recommend checking out Nemophila (pronounced "neh-mo-fee-la," similarly virtuoso dual-lead guitars, combination of beautiful clean vocals and dynamic screaming vocals, and one of Japan's most sought-after drummers), Band-Maid (more to the hard rock side that metal, with punk, pop and progressive elements, but their lead guitarist, bassist and drummer are three of the best in the world at their positions), and a fairly new rising star in Hanabie (pronounced ha-na-be-eh), which blends a lot of different genres from idol pop, to traditional Japanese folk, to metalcore, to punk, with a combination of two vocalists (well, three in one of their songs) who bring Babymetal-like cute voices and death metal growls (often from the same singer in the same song, lol)! Kinda takes your breath away, huh. The wear white because they are very petite ladies, Asami, vocals is 4'10", and because most metal stages are very dark. So they wear white because it will reflect light making them easier to see. There are 200+ Rock/Metal in Japan with about half all female. These ladies are insanely talented. Each of them multi-instrumentalist. Miyako guitar, on far right, long black hair. She's also an excellent classical pianist. In one video she plays guitar and piano at same time. Midori far left, she's also a body builder, recently took 2nd place in a recent competition. Asami vocals, is also an excellent dancer, ballet I think. Haruna drums, an excellent piano layer in her own right. Miho the bassist is no longer with them, but their new bassist is Fami, she's in beyond insanely talented. She's only 20, but a very accomplished bassist, guitarist, pianist, singer and composer. She can be seen in Lovebites latest video Judgement Day.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 and dropped their first song, “Judgement Day” on December 22. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics, and cowrote the music for “Judgement Day” with Mao. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. Best metal band in the world right now, in my opinion. They're amazing. So talented. They're all about bringing a positive message to metal. All of their songs are great. If you want more like this, try Set the World on Fire (live from 2021) or Break the Wall (live from Zepp). If you want relentless, in your face, driving beat, try Thunder Vengeance (live from Zepp - this show's opener). If you want something a little different, try Swan Song (with the Chopin intro), for a surprise from one fo the lead guitarists. If you want more of that, try also Frozen Serenade. If you want to hear more of Asami's soul and blues background in her voice, try Edge of the World. Many that react to Lovebites describe Asami's voice as operatic, which is not a correct description. She has never sung operatic. Your comparison of her to a Disney princess belting out a song is much more on target. Asami has a theatrical voice, not an operatic one. Many of those Disney are very theatric and some actually make it to the stage. Asami could do very well in musical theatre. She can sing softly, sing with a great deal of emotion and she can belt with the best of them. Not to mention she has leading lady looks.
