This was one of those songs that it didn't matter where you lived, who you were, what ethnicity you were, it brought pure unity. This song came on you bet everyone within earshot was dancing, skating and having a good time. Very few songs have this magical power over the human spirit.

I danced to it in the clubs in a small town when the song came out in the 70s, and as a 61 year old white woman today, I get up and dance every time I hear it. It’s timeless and like you said Dan, this is a song you just cannot jam to. I love it just as much today as I did then.

The keyboardist is my friend, Steve Cox. The Dazz Band were originally called Kinsman Dazz (as in dance-able jazz)and they were huge here in Cleveland. I met all these guys when I was managing a Pro Audio music shop in the 80s. They received a Grammy for this tune. My pal Steve is now Trisha Yearwood's keyboardist. Class guy and a great musician. Sorry for the tell-all here. This brings back many great memories. Love you J and Amber. Peace and love to all here. God bless.

@@alhollywood6486 As stated, Steve is a class act and nice guy. He's doing pretty well with Trisha for sure. Fun note...he used to sit in with my band. This song was definitely one of my FAVORITE songs to dance and roller skate to! The roller skating rink that I use to go to (called Skate Ranch) almost every single weekend in 7th, 8th, & 9th grade was so much fun! It had 2 pool tables, 1 air hockey table, 1 ping pong table, MANY arcade games, and amazing food, a huge skating rink and in the middle of the rink were 3 good sized dance floor where we could take off our skates and break dance, regular dance, whatever we wanted to do. Oh thanks for bringing back fun memories of my 12, 13 & 14 year old self (7th, 8th & 9th grade). Those were the best of times! Much love to you guys ❣️✌️

I love watching y'all discover the music of my youth and appreciating the diversity of it all... the 70s and 80's were a blast to grow up in... we saw funk, rock, metal, disco smooth rock pop all coexist in a wide open musical landscape... without judgements... your enthusiasm and positivity are infectious... thank you both!

AAAAAAAH YEAH! THE FUNK! STRAIGHT UP IN YOUR FACE BLACK MUSIC WITH ABSOLUTELY NO APOLOGIES! I love this group and this song. THIS IS A ROLLER SKATING CLASSIC IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY! I remember doing exactly that when I was 12 yo when the song was released. GOOD TIMES AND GREAT MUSIC! You should also do "CUTIE PIE" by ONE WAY, "DAZZ" by BRICK, " NO PARKING ON THE DANCE FLOOR" by MIDNIGHT STARR and "SLIDE" by SLAVE! ALL FUNK CLASSICS! Also "COMPUTER LOVE by ZAPP! GREAT VIDEO! GREAT REACTION!

Hey J and Amber! Thanks for all you do here!! I just love the video. And the song! The dancing looks like The Temptations, with the amazing funk of Chic, with Nile Rogers ! Such a great tune to get you moving!!

No that's not KC back there on keyboards. KC and the Sunshine band were still an active group from 73-85 before taking a break and then reforming. The Dazz Band formerly the Kingsman Dazz were active from 76 (from the jazz fusion band Bell Telefunk) with their popularity peak was from 82-84. That is Steve Cox.

Dazz band! They were part of that glorious wave of radio-friendly funk of the late 70s and early 80s. You are familiar with some of the groups in that wave, like Gap Band. Throw in others like Brothers Johnson, Cameo, Con Funk Shun, Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, Lakeside, Slave, Ohio Players, Heatwave, Bar-Kays, LTD, Average White Band and one of the great underrated artists to me, Curtis Mayfield. I don't believe you guys have done any Curtis yet. There's so much more funky goodness to uncover.

Yassss! This song had us all dancing! If you want some funk rock, check out Mother's Finest. Either Baby Love (female singer) or Piece of The Rock (male singer). They were HUGE in Georgia. And honestly, they are still touring and sound better now!

Yeah, y'all need to do more funk and r&b. Funk, r&b and blues are the basis of all the rock artists y'all play. Many of them Mick, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Frampton, Clapton etc, all got their roots grounded in blues, funk and r&b. Funk is a funker form of rock. Rick James, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Living Colour, The Family Stand, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic, Fish Bone. Trend setters, originators, architects...like Little Richard 😎😎🎼🎶🎵🎵🎼🎶
