SWV is no joke! The real difference between 90s R&B and the stuff put out in the new millenium is that they HAD to show up and SING. No voice manipulation or adjusting. Those artists (especially in the early 90s) were routinely putting out live performance albums or going on shows singing acapella. We expected our artists to SHOW UP with no safety net. It was a high standard, and SWV was at the very top of that pyramid. Honestly, it wasn't just R&B. It was all genres. Folks in the 90s used to sing until veins popped up in their foreheads, like their life depended on it. Eddie Vedder, Jodeci, Kurt Cobain.... It was just different.

Sisters With Voices hit in 92/93, so they like En Vogue blew up in the early to mid 90s. But yes there were so many female singing groups just in the R&B sound. Many of them were 1 hit or 1-album wonders but there was a lot of great music from the men and women groups of the period. In a lot of ways the 90s were kinda like the last hurrah of the singing groups because there was a lot less in the 2000s when everyone went solo. Some more female groups and songs from the early 90s to check out are Jade - Don't Walk Away, Zhane - Hey Mr DJ and/or Groove Thang, Xscape - Kickin It, Brownstone - If You Love Me and of course you have a lot more En Vogue out there as they had like a dozen hits.

Sisters With Voices! You should do 'Someone', 'Right Here' or their first (?) "I'm So Into You" TLC released their first album around '92. The main hits from that album are "Ain't too proud too beg," "Baby, baby, baby" and "What about Yout Friends". They also have another big album, possibly before Amber became familiar with them, called 'Crazy, Sexy, Cool'. That album had 'Waterfalls,' 'Red Light Special,' and 'Creep', though I love that entire album. Other girl groups include: Eternal, Jade, Gyrlz, Allure, moar En Vogue, Xscape, Total, Zhané, Blaque, Salt -N-Pepa and 702. I'm sure there is more, but I'll be here all night.

After En Vogue came out in 1990, and the huge success they had, there was an explosion of record labels trying to discover the next big thing in girl groups. So there were like dozens upon dozens of girl groups that dropped songs in the 90s. Most were either one hit wonders, or just "eh", but there were some that were pretty hot and made great music. like Brownstone, Xscape, and Jade. But even En Vogue weren't the first popular girl band. There weren't several very popular all girl groups from the 80s that made great music, such as, Expose, Mary Jane Girls (two groups I HIGHLY recommend you react to, btw, if you haven't already). was in elementary school in 80s & hair bands will always be my #1 but I listened to it all growing up-past & present-and still have been that way into future. So love the journey y'all been on. Cuz to me, there's way too much amazing music to pigeonhole self into one lane. Imo late 80s-90s was to me the best time for R&B fans. Solo & groups, from Mary J, Brandy, Monica, Salt & Peppa, En Vogue & SWV, and so much more. But even as a guy, I lost count of how many times I heard this back in the day. A radio station in early 2000s played lot of the urban R&B certain time every week called "back in the day buffet". Hearing all these great songs ya do, bring back so many memories. The nostalgia is insane & the world was far from perfect back then, but with no internet, everyone's world was smaller, things never seemed that bad, and the future looked so brighter. So sometimes it's bittersweet looking back, but wish these kids today didn't have weight of world on their shoulders. Wish we'd just let kids be kids again....and I almost forgot bout TLC even tho it's impossible to bake all the great artists & groups. Loved TLC & RIP Left-Eye & Aaliyah

The girl AND boy R&B groups of the 90’s are iconic. Many have mentioned the girl groups but some of the guy groups are Jodeci, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, Tony! Toni! Toné! ( yes the exclamations are in the name😂), Shai, H-Town. All had great songs and at least 1 great album.

I’m surprised yall haven’t reacted to them again. Y’all gotta do I’m So Into You. Use Your Heart, You’re Always On My Mind, Anything (Old Skool Radio 7” Version is my favorite), You’re The One, and Rain are all incredible tracks. One of my favorite female groups of all time. Probably my favorite as far as how much I love the songs that I love.

For a future Female Friday reaction the two of you will really enjoy "Foolish Games" by Jewel! She is an amazing talented artist and I am not sure you have reacted to her yet!

You guys got to react to more 90s R&B groups. Both male and female groups. Some female groups to react to are "Don't Walk Away" by Jade. "Can't You See" by Total. "Hold On" by En Vogue. And some male groups; "Candy Rain" by Soul For Real. "You Got Me Swinging" by Mint Condition. "Comforter " by Shai.

There were TONS of girl groups in R&B in the 90's. More than the 2000's or 2010's. Destiny's Child, SWV, Jade, En Vogue, TLC, Zhane, Brownstone, Total, For Real, Xscape and many others

Can you guys please react to Stranger In The Town or Ballad Of Youth by Richie Sambora? He’s the guitarist for Bon Jovi and he made a solo album based on Blues in 1991. His backing vocals in I’ll Be There For You and Wanted Dead Or Alive, etc we’re unmatched and he still can sing just like he did back in the 80s and 90s. He’s was definitely the soul part of Bon Jovi with his crying guitar sound and his bluesy voice. He mixed Blues and Rock so well in his songs and you can’t go wrong with the blues. It will not disappoint. Ever since he left the band in 2013 they haven’t sounded the same.

My favorite SWV song is their Human Nature remix. However, I’d suggest you listen to Michael Jackson’s Human Nature first, if you haven’t already? before you tackle SWV’s remix. Both are great songs!

Everyone today says they miss this type of R&B, even though SWV is still out here doing it, an the lead singer Coko has released solo albums also. the difference now is that nobody’s putting out slow grooving R&B/Hip Hop/Soul, just high energy up tempo twerking jams.
