The AZPD is IN FACT protecting him. Her friend is acting for people to go to Angela's social media to demand a more thorough investigation. They are actually saying he has nothing to do with this. If you are an avid hiker, you never separate from your partner, especially if they are feeling unwell. If it's a big group, then yes, you can send another person off with them. It doesn't matter if he is a cop or not, it's called being a decent human being. The problem though is why would u take someone on a first date , in your car (my understanding is he was driving), to a place like that with no water. I've hiked it many times and there is signage everywhere warning of the dangers and recommendations, including "plenty of water"! I believe she had a responsibility to heed those recommendations. It's a tragedy but I feel it was no fault of the officer.

When I visited S. Korea, I went hiking and they had water stations. All these deaths can be avoided by simply installing water stations on the trail hike. Our country is supposedly so advanced but we cant even install water stations?

This happened to a friend of mine in Texas, almost exactly. Unfortunately he didn't know she was anorexic and died of heat exhaustion and malnutrition. Prayers for her family and him.
I know her friends want to protect her and get answers but as soon a I heard this story I thought what I would have done as a girl excited to meet a guy across the country. Anorexic or not most of us would have been dieting if not fasting and been too embarrassed to explain how poorly we felt. He shouldn't have left her, that was just bad manners if nothing else. A Phoenix police officer would absolutely know that it’s critical to take water when hiking in the summer in Arizona. He was negligent in not taking water, and not warning her about the extreme heat.

@@strawberry10261026 yeah but common sense when she was up there she was obviously trapped, by the extreme heat was probably about a hundred six degrees,so she had to re go down that mountain in the heat the car was hot the sun was still blazing on here she was like a trappedall the way around by the mountains and the canyon she had nowhere to go for shade so she went and ended up in somebody's yard and died when he could have went back down the mountain with her, he could have started out made sure they had water first of all,and then once they got to his car he could have put on the air-conditioning for her, my question is if he told her to go back down to the car and he had keys why didn't he put the air conditioning on for her,or give her his car keys so she could turn on the air conditioner I wait for him to finish the hike,what is suspicious is why did she end up in somebody's backyard and not in his car with the air conditioner on waiting for him to finish the hike, I'd like to investigate if that car had air conditioning I'm sure it did he look like he had good money being a cop and also he's not driving around the car without air conditioning
I read most of the comments, and one obvious point is missing!!! If he told her / she chose to go back to the car and wait, (in AC), did she have HIS CAR KEYS on her when they found her body? Yet he drove away after he returned from the difficult hike to the top of the Camelback in noon heat? Where did they find him after they found her? How did they know she was with him?
