I turn left one every red arrow as well; since 2010. Best decision I made in my life. I get to use my fucking brain and evaluate if there is oncoming traffic.
The only legitimate concern I'd have is whether the red left arrow was put there because of visibility issues (as in there are a lot of wrecks when people try to yield like that). I'm not sure what the thinking is... or maybe it's a common pedestrian crossing and they don't trust the left turners to yield, something like that.
I used to laugh at Adam during these left turn arrow rants and think "Only in California. Never happen here in Tennessee". Two years ago? BLAM!! TDOT start putting these damn things up and now they're EVERYWHERE!
I complained about the speed traps on the main Blvd. By my house at rush hour but no patrols going through the neighborhoods when there is nothing but speeding on side streets and porch pirates and I was told by an LAPD rep. The motorcycle patrols are for traffic control only. Apparently those cops aren't brave enough or good enough to keep the side streets safe
Now I get it. We have red turn arrows in my neighborhood where the cross traffic is green, but of course the forward lane is red, too. So if the forward lane is green you know cross traffic is red. So it is like a right on red (legal in most states), basically.
I got pulled over for turning left on a green arrow once. The cop was in the opposing forward lane. The left and forward lights turned green on my side, and for some reason the car in the forward lane next to me doesn't go. So the cop assumes I ran a red light based on that illogic. I explain, and he ignores weather or not I'm telling the truth and sternly states he can't write the ticket because he didn't see the light (then why pull me over?). I say thanks, and he says "DON'T THANK ME!"
Left arrows are rare, some are green yields at best, most are just regular green that you should be able to turn if there is literally no one around but you're forced to wait for no reason
07:31 I just had the Burbank PD called on me this past week for using water in a public park area. Yes- water. I was pulled over on the side of the road looking for my cell phone and rinsed out a hamster wheel and had the police called on me. God forbid I might use that water or hamster wheel as a weapon. Rapebank.
This doesn't make sense. It would if the opposing traffic is green, but you can have a left arrow red and not know if it is green from the opposite, right or left, except by observing traffic, and they could be running red lights, so that would be anarchy. A blinking red arrow, representing a stop sign, might be a good idea only if the opposing traffic is green and not the left or right. I guess that's too complicated for radio comedy... I love these guys.
@@dinkyvision yeah and most NO TURN ON RED signs are for the streets with that curve and you cant see on coming traffic since you have an obstructed view.
I Love how he rants and raves about it for 20 minutes then adds but only when a cop isnt behind you. Want to break the law fine but dont act like you are the john dilliger of traffic cones if you are going to add that caveat.
I got a $465 fine for stopping my car partially on railroad tracks while waiting for the light. The cop clearly went to d*** school and was practicing for a test, acting like it's the worst thing he's seen in his career. 'What if the car stalls out!' or some crap. uh, you mean my car that works fine and has never shown a single sign of problems? What if my car magically stops working and I coast to a stop on the track. Just as likely. What I did is safer because I could see the train coming!
No one knows how reliable your car is (and that's totally beside the point anyway)... it's less about the danger to you personally and 99.9% about the train. Trains can take miles to stop, and even at a lower speed there's a chance of collision which could potentially cost millions of dollars or more in damage to the train, its contents or passengers, the track itself, surrounding structures or people etc... It's fairly standard that you NEVER stop on tracks and the fact that you obviously did is on you.
