I kinda feel like he was frozen, the more he wanted to actually explain the less he was able to come up with the right words. I don't know if it makes sense but it has definitely happened to me where I needed to explain myself but instead of doing that I'd just stand there in complete silence or kept repeating that I have an explanation😂 And the whole touching the face thing, I feel like it was out of fear too. He struggled to find the right words and he tried to touch gene's face to make himself feel like everything would be alright and that everything can still be fixed and sorted but gene turned his face away and that's when he realizes that he really messed up because gene was rejecting him with his actions. Again, I'm probably not making any sense but that's how I interpreted it

I know that we all wanted Sib to start talking during that pause between him and P'Gene, but if we think about it, that moment was so very delicate, he knew that P'Gene would have turned a blind ear to him and ignored him and believed that whatever he would say was a lie. I like him neither speaking nor telling his reasoning at that fragile moment actually! I LOVE Sib's maturity! He's like 18, and thinks before he speaks! and is so must more calm and collected than any 18 year old I have ever known!!! No, actually his maturity is higher than any random person's! Cuz see, so many of us think it would have been better if he spoke at that crucial moment! when it is actually clearly a good thing he didn't, otherwise there'd have been a lot more unnecessary misunderstandings!

I just feel Gene and Nubsib must have gone through a lot of trauma in their childhood..The flashbacks which they showed,they were pretty close.. They were seperated long ago so Gene must have completely washed all the memories.. But all those memories returned by seeing only a photo.. I just feel Nubsib wants to act in the series coz Gene is the writer and maybe he want to clear things with Gene😔🥺

Some folks complained that Gene's reaction was too much. But I don't think so. The thing is, he is in love with Nubsib at this point (or almost in love). If Gene did not have romantic feelings toward Nubsib, he would be really angry, but I do not think he would be crying. Think about it: Shy, awkward Gene fell for all of Sib's sweet gestures: Nubsib making his meals, Nubsib saying "I really like you", Nubsib saying "When I kiss Aoey, that's work, but if I kiss you, it's with my feelings". But now Gene believes it was all just a game for Nubsib. Gene thinks that Sib was secretly laughing at him (or maybe pitying him?) for being so gullible. For believing that a hot guy like Nubsib would be interested in an introverted, "uncool" guy like Gene. TLDR: Gene had all these romantic feelings for Sib, and he feels betrayed. I would cry into my pillow, too.

@@eileencritchley4630 Oof! Brutal but probably true. I'm sure he was panicking. I mean, I do think he does actually really care about Gene and that part wasn't a lie, but in that moment he did seem to be thinking about how he could spin it to save Gene's feelings, which is of course manipulative. We all do this to some degree but in this moment, when he's being accused of being manipulative by not sharing info, it felt particularly egregious. I think it's a realistic response from his character in this situation, but not a good one (if that makes sense).

@@twigtea wow I like this answer. It's sort of out of the box but to me fits Sibs character that we've seen so far(keep in mind I love Sib). Hes sly, a bit manipulative, takes advantage of situations to his beenfit from the start(The show was for him to get close to Gene, he used Tum to move in, he used the practice excuse to kiss, he got the girls to take pics of them together etc) Though his silence might have another reasoning in any case what you said is indeed aligns with how he is so far. His actions are harmless in the scheme of things, until you put them all together to form lies, which hurt peoples feelings.

Pobre Gene, se siente traicionado y frustrado. Es horrible crear muros al rededor de tí, derrumbarlos poco a poco y dejar entrar a una persona, para que luego te enteres que te engañó (en este caso, ocultarle cosas). Obviamente su confianza se hizo pedazos, además de que ya se había enamorado, es lógico que piense que Nubsib le estaba jugando una broma por que no lo reconoció -al parecer se dejaron de ver muchos años- Pobrecito Gene!!! Me dan ganas de abrazarlo, consolarlo y decirle q todo estará bien 😭😭😭😭😭🇲🇽

@@Mariana-ny6mh se enojó x que resulta que Gene y Nubsib se conocen desde hace muchos años. Gene entró a otra escuela y se tuvo que mudar a los dormitorios, y a Nubsib junto con su hermano, los mandaron a estudiar al extranjero. Ellos perdieron contacto y Gene ya no se acordaba de Sib, sumando que Sib usó el apellido de su mamá, por eso es q no lo relacionó con el niño de 10 años que conoció tiempo atrás. Nubsib sabía todo este tiempo quién era Gene, pero no se lo dijo x que sabía que lo trataría como un nong (o como se escriba), y él quiere enamorarlo. Por eso Gene cuando va a la casa de su vecina y ve la foto de Nubsib, sus recuerdos regresan, entonces piensa que todo lo que ha hecho/dicho Sib es para burlarse de él x que no lo recordaba

@@justinotv7879 I agree he probably shouldn’t have tried to touch them in the moment but he was like six years old when he left, it’s not his responsibility to remember that type of shit. And even if he did that doesn’t make him a bad person for not telling Gene. Gene jump to conclusions based off his own insecurities and basically lost all trust for the person that he’s come to know, based off of sib not sharing something that probably has had a large effect on him too. He can take AS MUCH time as he needs to come to terms with what happened and tell Gene. He was hurt by what happened too and I just feel like people aren’t taking his feelings into account. Like sib was a child.

i honestly understand why Nubsib was frozen and didn't say anything when he wanted to explain himself he probably decided to wait until Gene felt calmer, or just couldn't think of the right words i really think the scene was realistic, i've gone through the same situation so i know how hard it can be when you want to say something but can't think of a way to get your words out, and when you're also afraid of making it worse

I don’t know about pillows but when I was stressed at college I sometimes filled the sink up with water (I lived in accommodation and I had a sink) and screamed into the water, kind of muffled the sound.

varios no entienden el enojo de gene como persona introvertida miro claramente sus emociones, me identifico tanto, somos personas que rara vez confiamos en alguien y para que eso pase lleva tiempo, tenemos mucha inseguridad por el afecto repentino por eso gene dijo que ya no quiere ser un payaso el piensa que todo lo que dijo nubsib es totalmente falso, nubsib defraudo su confianza por ello no es una reacción exagerada es claramente la reacción de un introvertido cuando su mayor miedo se vuelve realidad.

Can really understand Gene on this even if it may look like he’s over-reacting. He must be feeling all sorts of played atm. Like firstly Nubsib and him must’ve been pretty close and probably more as a family type close so having developed feelings for him it must feel all sorts of confusing. Then there’s just generally the feeling of being played with, like Nubsib knew alot about him while he didn’t- power imbalance is humiliating. Then of course he’s probably wondering why he was lied to- like was it just to make him feel like a fool or what. And just generally being lied to is going to hurt. Hopefully they sort things out next episode 😭 wonder why Nubsib lied tbh, maybe it was just so Gene sees him in a different light?

Yeah tbh I don't think he's overreacting. After so many years of isolating himself from any kind of romantic feeling (as they mentioned in the scene where he met up with his university friends), he's finally beginning to open up and let himself be vulnerable, even if he's confused about what it is that he's feeling. And during all this confusion, suddenly the very person who's making him question his sexuality turns out to be a liar and a fraud. Nubsib has been lying to him literally the entire time, of course he feels betrayed- it's the closest he's let himself be with anybody in years

My theory is that maybe Gene was actually the first one to admit feelings to Nubsib, who then turned him down and then moved away. That would explain why Gene is sooooo distressed. He would think Nubsib came back to mock him and expose him or something. And would also explain why he's too scared to act on his feelings now. He's too scared of being hurt again. And would explain why Nubsib would lie, because he would be scared that Gene would react badly to knowing who he was. Idk, just an idea floating around in my head

The way he cryed was so like normal ppl do. The strength and timing/amount of the slamming on the wheel and the screaming too,everything was much more realistic. I actually had flashbacks to my mum doing the exact same slamming and got a little triggered. But that only made me more impressed at how real his anger felt

I'm so glad I found out about this show. For me it's not the best out there BUT I got to discover Up and boy I'm happy I did. This guy is such a gem. He's an amazing actor and a really funny guy in real life. Hope we will understand the connection between Gene and Sib better in today's episode.
