It so doesn't matter. I am an old white guy, and I love this song and Jim Croce. Music transcends race. One of the songs that I play when I feel low is "Keep Your Head to the Sky" by EWF. I love jazz and my favorite jazz pianist is Bill Evans (white) who played on "Kind of Blue" with Miles and all black musicians. Nice post!
I was attending the Glee Club office of Canisius College during orientation week September 6, 1973 when one of the Security guards told me that most the students were listening to the concert and that I should feel free to lock up, which I did, and had the chance to listen to Jim Croce live! It was the best concert of my life. Two weeks later he was gone. RIP Jim Croce! The Baby Boomers loved you as do each new generation!
What added to his greatness was his lead guitarist. Without that mans unique style of lead guitar ... Well Jim gave him the credit due him. But what a special combination
Aug 12 2024 lover's cross by jim croce was done around 1972 //74. 50 years later it stands with all of his songs that made this gentleman THE KING OF BALLARD so far throughout our musical ages 1 to 92.
Jim boy Croce was a beautiful soul, who wrote sensitive emotional lyrics. His songs are so easy and pleasant to listen to. It saddens me to think he was not around to enjoy some fame and recognition , perhaps he already knows and can enjoy it from afar . God Bless Jim x
It's sad he never got the money he deserved and tried so hard to get for his beautiful wife and son. But more than the money, the life he deserved to have with his family and friends. He was about to, willing and able to walk away from the music industry dispute his rising fame and song climbing the charts before his death. What happened to us as Americans that no one no longer and make music and lyrics like the time this man and many other greats came from. I have a charcoal impression of Jim's grave, I got myself, and its framed in my basement. (I live in southeast pa) Everytime I look at it I imagine what could ha e been and remember I'll get a chance to see him again and hear new songs he's made for the lord.
John Hughes anyone who does not know the name is deserving of a shunning. Lol. If you look at me and say Jim the first thought that comes to my head is Croce
Hard break up song of a friend i once had as a teenager; realised when i got into college with wonderful pretty smart women, realised this relationship was for the beans; but the pain may never be forgotten- burried it in Jesus name amen
JIMMY; there is one great folk song writer; blessed guy,, he experienced real life stuff and managed to put the words to that what people go through; the guitar playing superb!
A true love never happens from such material thoughts. Love is born without question. It desires constant attention and company from lover. And there is no room for doubt and mistrust in love.
Thanks you Jordan and jah for this video on Jim Croce. I loved Jim music. One of my favorite songs time in a bottle. God bless he's family. And stay safe
He was a one a kind performer. Always great story telling in his songs. This song really gets to me. I remember the night, the year when we parted. The heart never forgets.
The absolute best by JC. And that's saying a lot! The finest breakup lyric I've ever heard. Sheer poetry. Paired with Jim's lovely vocals and the brilliant guitar of Maury Muelheisen (who, at 24, perished with Jim in the crash), and you have one of the best goodbye songs ever written. RIP, Jim and Maury.
So did i listen to Jim's songs all my life; i was 15 years old when i heard of his plane crash over radio; i am now 61 years. I have not found anyone quite like Jim in all these years either- one of a kind soul
es muy emocionante y especial escuchar a Jim Croce a sus cortos 30 años, compartir este tema es volver a los 80 Gracias por estos hermosos temas musicales..
In the process of ending a relationship and this song keeps playing over and over in my mind..."for every time we spend laughing there were two times that I cried" says it all😥
ABSOLUTE PROFOUNDLY AMAZING TALENTED SONGWRITER. ANOTHER ONE OF MANY DESTINED FOR AN EARLY DEMISE. AS ANOTHER THAT WAS TAKEN MUCH TOO SOON IN THE PINNACLE OF HIS CAREER HARRY CHAPIN . I SUPPOSE SOME ARE JUST PUT IN THIS WORLD FOR A SHORT TIME TO BRING SO MUCH JOY TO OTHERS THROUGH THEIR MUSIC AND TALENTS AND THEN ARE TAKEN AWAY FROM US. I GUESS ITS POETIC REALLY.
Hi! Razor you ask why 50 people gave thumbs down ,well because they are Heartless nincompoops their empty hearts were ripped out of their chest at birth and those ugly hearts are now dangeling as a trophy on the Devils pitch fork.😉 All of our loving hearts still love you and always will 😘😘😘😘😘Jim Croce 🎆 RIP..
Female Dog,, her name was Tammy"" thats right, you heard me, God bless Jim's soul and bless Ingrid and their only son. Bless you really,, Prayers. The LP's became classic legends ,,,
On this song, they both played 1972 Ovation Legends. Jim played the tobacco sunburst one and Maury, the blonde spruce one. They toured with the Ovations in the last year of their lives as they were so durable. They survived the plane crash intact.
This song in my opinion is really about Jim leaving his Catholic faith for Judaism, a super God? Croces wife was Jewish and he probably converted to please his wife. Jesus was the ultimate lover on a cross and martyr for all mankind, his Father will not be mocked especially about his only Son. Of course I could be wrong and my speculation does not take away my love and prayers for this man.
