Loving God & Neighbor Through the Virtue of Modesty 

This priest loves his flock. Many need to hear this and are not aware.

If I could have given a thousand thumbs up I would have. I hope this starts a trend. It IS about time! This good priest is to be commended. Three Hail Marys for him.

Feathers ruffled, pot stirred. Pray for this good priest as he takes the coming onslaught. True masculine, fatherly virtue is this: having the courage to stand up for one’s house and teaching one’s children what they need to hear even when it’s not what they want to hear. He definitely pulls no punches here, but at the same time he is not rude or brutal or unnecessarily harsh, not to be confused with being plain, direct, and bold.

Praise God for holy priests like this.

High time, Father! Actually, there is a similar dress code notice at the Sanctuary of Lourdes, too. Dressing inappropriately to Mass is distracting as well as downright wrong. I always make sure I am covered when I go to Mass, including a thin cotton coat when the weather is fine or very hot. Also, the coat keeps me cooler than if I wore just a cotton top for any occasion. This message came just as I was dejected after coming from sunday mass, with some people attending with bum shorts, some weeks earlier a eucharistic person giving communion had worn some shorts to do this, . I sent this message to those I could and the next message I received is that we worship God in our hearts! can you see the extent of the deception, Our lord, His Majesty will say "let those who have ears , let them hear"!, As you helped me to realise this truth, please help others too, I was once like that, but for your grace and patience with me. AMEN! Ladies, we MUST strive to please our Lord in this area, especially when it is so abused in this world. It is NOT IMPOSSIBLE to dress modestly EVERY DAY. Throw out the pants, cover your knees at all times, no more low necklines, and cover your upper arms. Also keep in mind that just because it covers, doesn't make it modest. Skirts can be too tight and/or too thin. We often wonder if we are or are not practicing a virtue. Well this aspect of modesty (there are many) is an easy one because you can see it. Sure, its not easy to find modest clothes these days, but it IS possible. I have four daughters, ages 3-16, and they would never be allowed to dress immodestly, even within our home. It is doable. The Saints were not canonized for doing the bare minimum. They did all they could. Do not aim for the bare minimum. Aim to please Our Lord as much as you possibly can. Offer up the difficulties to make reparations against this virtue.

The reason we have this problem is two fold IMO. #1 Novus Ordo Mass #2 Priests and Bishops never talk about immodesty. I really doubt and I have never seen at a Latin Mass someone dressed immodestly. I'm glad this is being said but it grieves my heart that is has to be said. Imagine how Our Lord feels

I have to admit that due to lack of teaching sometimes you have to be woken up by the Holy Spirit. Whenever I went to a large ancient basilica in Europe I would cover up and wear a large scarf over my head and shoulders but not at home. My visit to the Holy Land was my wake up moment. It was an unconscious decision thanks to the Holy Spirit where it felt totally natural to cover up. However when I got back to my home parish I stopped, why? Fear from what others would think or say? I don't know but this Holy Week the urge was so strong that Good Friday I took my large scarf to church and covered up and felt great. I did go through a phase of feeling self conscious but offered it up to the Lord and now I literally feel naked if I do not have my head and shoulders covered by my scarf.

Our prayer after each decade of the rosary before Mass, along with Our Lady's prayer given to us at Fatima...."Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all the souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy." This priest is God's answer to our prayers. There are more like him and there are more coming to us. Our job.......obedience and prayer. Prayer begets prayer begets prayer. Thank you Father for answering God's call to your vocation. You are in our prayers always.

Does anyone know where this particular St. Joan of Arc parish is? I'm tempted to move there - LOL Share this with as many people as possible! We are commanded to disciple to and for others. Another great video that will open your eyes is "Fewness of the Saved". What a gift these Latin Rite Priests are. Attend the Latin Rite Mass if you can - it is the Mass the Saints attended and has the absolute fullness of the Truth!

People cannot say that it is radical to ask people to be modest in church. It is radical not to. We all have house rules. It's God's house and he has house rules.

agree with everything. one caveat. mortal sin requires that the person is aware of their wrongdoing, in this case causing someone else to stumble. ALSO some people have such an issue with lust that they would have that problem no matter what someone is wearing, even appropriate. my daughters dress modestly but are pretty girls. they are not responsible for everyone that looks at them that way. There's a fine line here....

I have tattooed arms and I won't wear short sleeves in church no matter the hottest of weather. It isn't an issue of sexual modesty but I think it is still relevant and applicable to the subject of proper attire. For me it would be disrespectful as the tattoo subject matter is neopagan (yes I have renounced that). Of course God knows the tattoos are there but other parishioners should never be distracted by such images while attending Mass. I'm starting the process of removal for my forearms so I can someday wear short sleeves. Honestly, I have a reaction of physical revulsion now when I look at them. Regret.

Where is the parish of this priest? This is great teaching and these rules should be applied to all Catholic Churches. I will make the trip from Detroit to go to his Mass. St. Joan of Arc where?

THANK GOD FOR THIS! We all have work to do on modesty in this age. I have started wearing a suit to Mass in the last few months and my girls have started veiling. Modesty is devotion. Men...and fathers need to lead the way. Men if you aren't wearing a collared shirt, dress slacks and a tie to church....you are wrong.

Thank you father for this talk. We have this problem in my parish. You're right about the immodest clothing woman wear that lead men into temptation. I am surprised what my parish priest allows to be worn at mass. Especially wedding gowns that are basically soft porn. I kid you not. The gown was sleeveless with exposed cleavage. I just dont understand why a priest would allow this sinful clothing.

Not all men find skin attractive or a temptation to sin, but find it repulsive, but rather are more tempted to see a woman in a full dress or long pants. Honestly it's not the attire, it's in the mind of the beholder, some men are more attracted to women who are fully dressed

The church that I used to go they ware those clothes open back then short dresses and the priest it seems he doesn’t care then some of those people’s talking so loud while you prayer it should have been quite because you are talking to God . They be laughing, then I ask my priest if I could take the host through my mouth and kneeling down to take to take the body of Christ, the reason that the priest had given me is not permitted because of those people’s, I wasn’t pleasing Those people’s I am pleasing my lord .i won’t not take in my hand then most of the time they drop the host in the floor . Not just once,that is why it should be taken while you kneel down with the plate under . I’m still looking waiting for the church to come back it used to be , I didn’t turn my back to the lord but if every time I go to church and seeing those things that happening I can’t and my mined why they still crucifying our lord . For I pray that our lord will guide our church to the right way . I just stay at home and prayed for everyone. God bless .

In my nearby liberal parish the pastor sets the example going before The Blessed Sacrament in shorts if he only knew Hell is hotter and forever how could he preach on respect Reverance to Almighty God when he's a hypocrite.

This world is Babylonian & immodest, and people should at the very least dress modestly in churches, but those of faith should dress modestly everywhere. One thing to remember though is, There is one Holy Father, and that is our Father in Heaven.
