My mind keeps thinking " Valspa". It's a brand of automotive paint that dries very shiny, smooth, and if desired you can add sparkle to it. It lasts along time on steel before rust appears. (about 40 yrs without salt or salt water) It can reflect images too. We used it on our mobile equipment and on metal art at one place I worked. OSB I-beams will tend to twist out when cantilevered or spanning great distances. Any kind of thin, high I-beam will tend to twist under these circumstances. Other than these 2 thoughts; it's shaping up to become a great house. Plan and run your engineering cost estimates first. Then stick to your well thought out plans and then the budget will usually take care its self. Making it up as you go almost always ends in disaster. ( & it did)

If you want to see this house finished (almost), see season 3 episode 5, they feature the finished build at the end of that episode. I was gobsmacked, not what I expected, it ended up beautiful.

Wow - so many complaints about a truly inspiring building and programme! Weird that the music doesn't match the original (I have the original on my DVR and checked), so it could be fixed, but that the end of the day, it's a terrific programme full of ideas and enthusiasm. Really pleased these are available. Please make Season 3 available in the UK

Thought this was supposed to be a shipping container home. Think that the slope directed water to the cantilevered area, and that is why it ultimately slipped and needed reinforcing...

This is titled WRONG. That is not a shipping container. And is the audio an issue with original show or who uploaded it? PLEASE stop with the loud background music. It makes some of these unwatchable.

these shows are 5-10 years old and distributed by somebody completely unrelated to the original production. i doubt anybody is reading the comments and even if they did, they probably don't have access to the original audio channels needed to remix the sound. unfortunately, we are stuck with the music. a number of these are on Amazon and they are just as bad there.

Loving this episode, but it is NOT a shipping container home. I don't know why DIY Daily felt the need to mistitle it, or if the person who posted the video to RU-vid even watched it. Conceptually, this is probably my favorite of The House That £100K Built episodes I've seen so far. It also kind of echoes the bus reclaimation glass idea from the other episode.

These programmes are wonderful. Pierce and Kieran are clever, informative, innovative and Pierce is amazing. However.....my only complaint is the background music when Kieran is commenting on his own. Music drowning out what he's actually saying. Simple to correct.

as usual they took over and inflicted their ideas on the builders and as usual its more expensive because of their interference, a home is very personal it needs to fit the owner not two know it alls that want to inflict their taste on the people paying for the house , why do they need to interfere ? why can they just not ? now all they have upstairs is an empty un usable room in the middle of summer when all that glass will turn that home into an oven , they are going to regret not fitting some kind of sun protection in that fish bowl

1) Getting architect input is part of the premise of the show and what the home owners sign up for. 2) Their cost explostion was not from the input of Piers and Kieran. The cost of the things they suggested was minimumal compared to the the cost of the original structural design being insufficient and their underestimation of the duration they needed the labor for. 3) I'm pretty sure it's empty because the final filming schedule ended up taking place before the project was complete, in conjunction with the owner's clearly stated desire to live within the space before putting in the final walls. 4) Their walls' performance will be mainly based on those prefab panels, which appear to have significant insulation, which is all continuous exterior insulation, which also helps. The black glass will reflect more heat than the Yorkshire boarding. The performance of the windows will be based on the window design, low E coatings, etc.

Why do your editors and sound “people“ not read the comments ? ? The music is ridiculously loud. We, the audience, cannot hear the conversations or discussions. I enjoy these shows. But, please reduce the volume.

WOW, TURN DOWN THE BACKGROUND MUSIC, it's ridiculously loud!!! It's really sad that "under 100,000 pounds" ($135,000) is something extraordinary and unusual. This only shows that housing prices are completely out of this world for the normal person. Where I live, there's no way i could afford a house around here. Not only that, but zoning disallows anything other that what is built by developers/contractors, with their prices. I'd love to build my own home out of cinder block, a disused building, or shipping containers, but that's a no-go around here.

Container home is misleading - I was expecting shipping containers but the most annoying thing is the bloody sound editing and quality. I don't know who's doing your sound editing but take them out and beat them! Even if this is done to slide past audio fingerprinting for copyright etc there are better ways of doing it.

loud dialogue suppressing background music or sound effects are purposely featured in these videos to generate more comments from annoyed viewers .More comments tend generate higher monetary value for that video. If you come accross these sites you'll notice that not all of their videos are formatted this way, but just enough to keep most viewers steady.
