Thanks for your comment about lack of depth perception. I do really small stuff under an illuminated magnifier. I was considering a $100 version. So I went back to the magnifier and closed one eye. Missed the board half the time. Used both eyes and didn't miss once. Never even thought. Now I need to look for an inexpensive stereo scope :-).
Thanks for the reviewing this. Now I'm wanting one now, lol. Great to see you back, Jeff! Been missing your awesome videos. I know it's slow due to pandemic. Hope you're staying safe!! Take care, my friend!
Jeff I just subscribed to Matt’s Channel. Looks very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Jeff what solder and flux would you recommend for thru hole and surface mount soldering. I’m new to this field and taking auto electronics courses. Trying all different aspects of the field. I’m a retired aircraft mechanic ( high performance military) and have just been hooked on learning everything I can. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your videos 🇺🇸😊 Artie
Hello! You can change the angle of the microscope with the screw of the base, bend it backwards so you dont geht the "mist" into the lense - and you get better view of 3D dimensions.
@@jeffescortlx Would the distance between the bar and components in the middle of a laptop motherboard be a problem? It seems like you might not be able to reach every component on something as big as that without the side hitting it and stopping you.
@@fakename3344 yes that's possible if the board is large and if you need to see the center. But I'd think a custom/modification stand could take care of that.
I put that microscope on articulated Vesa mount that made it much more useful. It is not as good as stereo zoom microscope but, the focus wheel in the front has a range from 1-5 inches!
So I woke up and saw I got 10 Subs in the last hour. I was like WTH where did that come from? Now I see. THANK YOU for the shout out! BTW Its my birthday so thank you for the awesome birthday present!.
I am looking for a microscope like this one but I need to be able to turn off the LED light when I need to. Is there one that you know of where you can turn the light off?
Hi jeffescortix. Wanted to ask for your opinion, personally, I would like to use this for soldering PS3 Board or maybe motherboard repair. This the stand seem be too small and closed to the edge which will affect the angle the camera could hold? Is this suitable for big-size board repair? if not what do u suggest what for a low-cost microscope yet cheap and usesable?
It looks like the stand for the scope could be an issue. Limits the "depth" of the workpiece that can be used. Otherwise it is surprising good resolution.
If it has any reliability issues I'll make a sticky comment here. The USB power adapter feels pretty cheap, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the first thing to fail.
@@jeffescortlx From what I've seen it looks like they've improved it over the smaller version..The video quality looks a lot better and the firmware looks different as well so it might be ok..The Usb power adapter looks the same and it works but yeah not the best.
Thanks Jeff as always you are great my friend. Can you leave links to your scope as well cause I would be very interested in buying all the equipment you have on it and it. Thanks James

@@Crazylogix007 I basically copied Louis Rossman reccomended set up, except the camera for recording. I have a video review on the camera I'm using to capture footage on my channel.
@@jeffescortlx I have a 2002 gmc yukon denali I just bought speedometer donesnt work, and the oil dose bounceses around I bought all new parts for it.i had a stroke in2019 over 2 years ago was going to replair it my self I worked 28 for Cadillac and done them before. What do u charge for your service
@@johnisenhart3308 chances are if the MPH doesn't register at all the cluster isn't seeing the VSS signal. I'm impressed you've found new air core motors, this will stop the bounce in the oil gauge. New ones have been hard to find for the last ~10 years.
Yes 100%. The fake pops and fizels wouldn't be good for BGA work. It's also is harder to clean up, and it's more mustard in color. But besides that it makes fine joints.
Just a quick question I have a Toshiba exterior hard drive and I bumped it and it fell over and now all it does is Click it's not reading anymore. It is full or otherwise I wouldn't bother trying to repair it would you or do you know of anybody who will be interested in fixing it
That's crashed heads that cause that. That's not a super simple repair fyi. (I don't do them I used to be interested in doing it so I did a lot of research. I don't know if Jeff has any better suggestions but Rossman repair group does them and a few other RU-vidrs.
@@jeffescortlx I'm not an expert but I think it's more common to swap the heads. I think the hard part is getting the old heads off the platter while it's crashed without damaging the platters. I know a lot of people try to force them off and scratch it all up.
I was wondering if I could send you my Gm instrument cluster odometer is out, I’ve been following you for quite a while on RU-vid and I like your work I don’t trust anyone else I’m hoping that you will except my offer there please let me know I’m from Michigan Ann Arbor Michigan
i bought it g1200 , and used it for a month , and i regret it , the image quality is very bad , it never gives good balance between light and dark areas , the light is refleced directly to the camera when working with cicuit boards or electronics repairs , cannot see the parts clearly and the colors is not clear too , cannot tell if there is some thing dicolored or burned , and after a month or so of usage , it died , it doesnt turn on , i opened it and tested the board , i found the circuit board to be shorting on the power area next to the charger port , and its poor design seems to have failed in short time because it generates lots of heat while it doesnt have and proper cooling , its one of the worst microscopes in the market and no matter what price you pay for it , doesnt worth it never buy this model , you will end up throwing it in trash
lol the screen cover just had to come off :-D That looks like a good value microscope for someone that can't really sell a kidney for a one off job. Turn the base to the back and plop a weight on it, the pcb could sit on a nice grippy mat then :-D Yes Al-You-Mini-Umm, yes i'm an evil english bloke with daft spellings ha ha :-D I wonder who will try to replace the lcd with a bigger lcd, someone is bound to have tryed. Oh... Sol-Der, not Sod-Her (She may or may not like it) ha ha :-D
