Watch in 4K! :)
In todays video, I show you the benefits and features of utilizing a low ambient head pressure control such in the form of a condenser motor fan cycle switch. This part can greatly benefit your customer that utilizes comfort cooling in low ambient conditions due to a high building heat load by controlling heat rejection at the condensing unit by allowing the system to build a proper heat load. See you guys on the next one, and happy HVACing ! Peace !
Fan cycle switch typically used in R410A applications - mine was bought from United Refrigeration, but most reputable supply houses will stock them.

Good ol fan banger. It's not my favorite way to do it, but it works. I've used a 90340 relay in the past to take the load off the switch. The best option is speed control using a temp sensor or a pressure transducer works even better with more precise control. Nicely done! 👏

True words right there! So many different ways to do it, some with more efficiency. This was rudimentary but for a basic split system it’s cost effective and increases performance when it’s cold out, and I was hoping this would appeal to mostly beginner techs who might need an intro or basic approach to this subject typing in the search bar. Thanks for watching man! Love your channel , big fan here ✌🏼

Can these be installed on a heat pump system? I like to use my air conditioning when it’s cold outside but my system is a heat pump so I still need the heat for the rest of the family when they’re home.

Yes they can be used on a heat pump system , however it will require the addition al installation of some type of relay such as a SPDT ( single pole double throw ) with the coil wired to “O” , this will allow it bypass control in heating mode, depending on if your unit energizes reversing valve in heat or cool. You don’t actually want the fan cycle switch to be active when running in heat mode as it is likely to cause a freeze up at the outdoor coil due to low airflow when in heating mode.

I'm thinking about using this in conjunction with a Humidity Thermostat so that when it runs in the Winter time it will work the same exact way for the same exact reason you're using it for commercial purposes, It will be running lots of times in the Winter time and I need to keep the head pressure up , Can you think of any Better idea

There aren’t many better ideas , of course there’s all different types of head pressure switches and sensors , this one in the video is most easiest to install and most cost efficient method . But If you’re going to need cooling demands in the winter then you are absolutely correct you need some type of head pressure control ( fan cycle switch ) for proper operation , temperatures and pressures and performance of the unit

The only other option I know of was that head pressure control fan cycle mechanism but it's much more expensive than this, I've been wondering why these types of switches would not work and do the very same thing that the head pressure control mechanical cut in cut out switch does but this does the exact same thing except it's none adjustable I wonder how long they've been making these types of switches are new about the low pressure switches and high pressure switches I've installed them because most of the rheems do not come with these If I am actually controlling the head pressure with this precious switces I'm not going to be getting liquid back to my compressor at all so I shouldn't even need a crank case heater which I thought I was going to need initially both of these together, other than migration,
