When are you supposed to counterbalance? I see cops counter balance on tight turns---is that just a different technique that also works??

Love seeing you on a big cruiser. Great video. I run through those same exercises weekly on my road king. Now that I'm riding two up with the wife I take her with me and practice slow speed maneuvers two up. It really adds to the enjoyment of riding and increases my safety while riding by being confident in handling the big bike at slow speeds.

I friggen love this channel. Just got a Harley Road Glide and what he's doing requires a hell of a lot of practice. These bikes are heeeaaaavvvyy. I've been going to practice every day - figure eights, circles, friction zone, etc. It's amazing, it works! But to really get comfortable leaning like that, you gotta practice. So I"m going to shut up and go practice! Whoop! Thanks Eddie!

Another awe inspiring video Greg, You instill confidence in me/us through your chat and actions and make this all look easy, and its not! - But there is an unsung hero involved in all or most of your videos and their work is absolutely up there with yours, comparatively, and that's the camera man (or woman) - They are always exactly where they are supposed to be with the correct zoom and keeping you center frame, no shaking or incorrect exposure and always perfect audio, just like you they DO IT RIGHT! So I must send a big thank you to them also, so well deserved, and keep it up!

Excellent demo and instruction! Concept of remaining vertical and having the bike roll right or left has under you has helped me with slow speed turns. Since the center of gravity of a sitting human is about at the height of your solar plexus, remaining vertical does provide some counter weighting since the CG of your body is “on the out side” of the CG of the “rolled to the inside” bike.

Your videos have been really helpful in improving my slow speed maneuvers on my VROD. It has a 260 rear tire and the only way to get it to turn is to lean to the point where my heels drag. My dragging noises aren't nearly as cool sounding as those were!

Like many others who have made this same comment, THIS is the video that I've been waiting to see! Thank you very much for posting it. I have found it very helpful. Now, having said that, I will head out tomorrow to practice what you are teaching and I KNOW that I will fail! I have been trying everyday for four weeks now, to do an 18' u-turn. My objective is to do a full-lock u-turn, but I will be happy if I can do 18' consistently. Here is my problem - I get set to do the u-turn, adjust my speed, I have the friction zone no problem, I turn my head right around, then I start to lean the bike, BUT I can lean only so far then I chicken out!! Why does this happen??? I can do 20' u-turns no problem, left and right. How can I overcome this fear of having the motorcycle falling right over? I guess the main question that I have that no one on any video has explained to me, is, will the motorcycle NOT fall over as long as I have power to the rear wheel and I'm doing at least 5mph?? I want to be able to hear the scrape on this u-turn! I scrape on higher speed turns on the road, so I know that I CAN lean that far. Thank you!!!

Yeah that’s the motorcycle I have the worst time trying to lean with., but your Elvis move from another vid really helped me lean it.. then I just had to get used to what speed I need. I usually stay in second for my tight turns on any bike.. then just friction zone it while having a bit of gas pulled the whole time so when I let out on the friction zone the motorcycle gas sone more umph.

Hi, Thanks for this. I am amped up to get out and practice. I know practice, and speed, is probably the answer to my issue, but its that initial start to the turn when the bars feel like they want to tuck and fall into the turn that gets me. I also tend to overthink it. Years ago, before we had "training and knowledge", I don't think I had any problem with U-turns. If I missed the turn, I turn round and go back, now my head spins with all the things I have to do to make the turn. Doh!

Hey so if I’m understanding this right, during slow turns you more so push the bike over and stay upright where as fast curves it’s more of your body hanging off the bike? And what exactly is the advantage of the rear break? I just got a bigger cruiser and haven’t ridden in 3 years, and when I did ride it’s only been sport bikes lol. Thanks for the help!

don't know if I'm missing something or not - are you countering steering for slow speed maneuvers? On my bike I counter balance (Torso mostly - higher speeds may stand a little{great for off road}) -and under 5 mph do basic steering usually can make 16 foot turns with out the brake just playing the friction zone (light bike 440 lbs)l if for some reason (Rarely happens) I will transition to counter steering if need be. At higher speeds on my bike 5 mph I always counter steer
