What's up NUB NATION!! Today was my last day filming with the Sober & Stoked crew for their upcoming documentary!! We got some surf at low tide in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Surfing my home breaks for the doc has been a very cool experience. We waited through the rain for the wind to finally turn offshore & give us some good conditions and it panned out for the dream!! Never forget getting bumped by a shark while surfing Crystals...heaviest sesh I ever had in AC. I know it's winter, but be careful down by the inlet...I've caught some pretty big fish there. They hangout for the tide change and wait for the little fish to come drifting by. There is something about being in the water up that way, it always felt a little more ominous there vs Longport, OC, Strathmere, etc. Have you ever caught anything on the Brig side of the inlet? I only got to surf that once and it was an eerie feeling.

I can agree with you on the erieness, but I've surfed the inside of brig many times. Super fun! The problem is when that wave is good it's usually barreling up north

Surfing in the middle of he bay, in the middle of the day...what can you say?...we're all blown away!!! Good thing you got outta the water when it started raining...you mighta got wet...lol ;) Gnarly barrell sesh with you even going left!!! Yeewww! the novelty reminds me of surfing the wedge in Newport Beach Ca, take off on the 3'-4' rebound and the wave would jack to 10'+...going backside and maybe make 1 out of 20 to kickout status...the rest getting pile driven...yewww

I'm glad you found some cool novelties while the film crew was there. I think those refracto x waves are epic and that wave in the middle of the bay was far out (literally.) I kept worrying about a shark seeing you way out there by yourself though. And then to top it off those awesome barrels at the end! Sweet!!!

Every time I see the backdrop of AC in your Vlogs it saddens me thinking of what AC could have been and what it was like back in the 70's...what happened ???...can remember my folks taking the bus down once a month !!

hey Ben, next time you get a north eastern and its to big every ware , head to Point Pleasant, right where "Janks" is and look to the inside of the inlet, there is a island with a sand bar right at the inside of the channel. we use to surf it when we were kids, waist high and supper fun... I recommend a 10 ft epoxy you'll get supper long gliders....

Nice day of hunting down the novelty waves and barrels. You definitely ran the gamut of waves in your area, from the middle of the bay (crazy paddling) to a small wedge to some meaty beach break barrels and you even went left! Lol! For the dream! NNFTW!

The biggest great white sharks in the world are found off New Jersey and Montauk point in New York State. Don't surf alone. Especially in the summer when the water is over 70 degrees

Just as windy here in Toronto yesterday, also watched a stop sign get blown over just not on video. I was driving by myself cut me a brake. Catching up Ben, missed a few here. Peace

I used to surf AC back in the day. Eden Roc hotel used to give me a room for $11 a night. I was the only one there most of the time because it was dead of winter. They thought I was nutz for surfing terrible waves in the freezing cold. For the dream!

Middle of the bay surfing Manasquan nj has a dog park that is a point break in the middle of the manasquan inlet it only breaks on massive swell at the right angle

The wind shifted to offshore and the surf really started to clean up. Those were some nice barrels coming in later in the day. Maybe something is left over for today?

Im going to bite the leg off of the person who keeps giving this a thumbs down…………I know the learning curve for a foil is big…but you gotta get used of it cause those runners in the middle of the bay are made for foil…keeping watching the swell at the end of the jetty and it often looks catchable on a foil…..to get stoked view a few kai lenny vids…..you will be a natural and even more novelty waves will open to you……….great editing…..

Ben , what is, in your opinion, the easiest fin setup to learn to get on rail and to learn more critical moves ! Im to a point a can easily stand up make some turns but nothing too critical ! Would apreciatte some pointers from the master himself

Fins that are your size & not to small or to big are a big factor. make sure your future or FCS setup is for you weight size and you will be perfect to improve!!

haha yeah when I was paddling like a mile out to surf the bay novelty I was tripping. Fog, cold water, I kept picturing jaws coming to get me, but I just try to push all the fear out of my head & enjoy it!! When you let go & just remember that life is a ride you will be stoked
