Yes there are limitations to the sound, depending on how efficient a speaker is. Here you can learn what I have experienced trying most speakers.

Nat Audio Magma New can drive all of them easy….

The early investigators of sound reproduction modalities took the laws of physics and how the human ear functions into account. See the history of Bell Labs, Western Electric, et al. Why do we reinvent the wheel and call it a "discovery." This has led to many companies arising on dubious claims by marketeers and then fading into the sunset. Those with degrees in engineering do better designing audio equipment than tinkerers, probably because they are constrained by facts that can be proven in the lab. A clever salesperson uses the power of suggestion to sway our thinking.

I appreciate your video but I can't agree with a lot of what you said. You placed speakers in the range of 80db to 90db and placed them all together in the group of low efficient. That just seemed absurd to me. There is a huge difference between 80 and 90 DB in efficiency. I try to keep all of my woofers (and subwoofers) efficiency at no lower than 85 to 86DB and my midrange drivers no less than 88 to 89. I find a lot of the midrange and tweeters if not higher efficiency can sound muddy or hear distortions. on my smaller woofers I will often use two and couple them together. Larger speakers like 10" and higher I will have no lower than 89 or 90 DB and midrange drivers like 94 or higher. Even if I use a resistor network to bring the midranges down to the level of the woofer they will still sound better and more detailed, etc.. I only see low efficiency drivers on real cheap speakers. Even Subwoofers where they make the efficiency real low including the resonance frequency and other parameters so it will fit in a small box they don't sound as good. Sure they will still play low but not sound musical as larger more efficient speakers, always a compromise. Pretty much all of the most popular speakers for sale with great reviews do not have an efficiency rating lower than 88db/W/meter and that is mostly based on the woofer the other drivers are often higher efficiency but L-Paded down to match the woofer. Often I will use a subwoofer for my woofer and cross over to a lower midrange (6" to 8"at around 200Hz to 1.2kHz and use like a 4" driver with a phase plug for upper midrange and a fourth driver for the tweeter. at 4kHz. Great dispersion.

I meant low db with unstable ohm, compared to high db with more stable ohm. DB does not have much to say without corresponding ohm to give the data any meaning. Itś very common to have a low db speaker with an unstable ohm and a higher db speaker with a more stable ohm.

Bloody hell. You fellers ever get to a live venue and hear what LIVE sounds like? I have all the microphones. And the preamps. And the way of recording the all the instruments,.....oh lord. NOT THIS GUY.

Yea don´t be that guy. LIVE sound is easy to do, having a system that can do LIVE and all the technical stuff almost never happens. Most speakers do either or.

Also high efficiency speakers have less distortion. Klipsch law
@Audfile
@Audfile 2 года назад
But you can control that, hence a lot of speakers sound better than klipsch.

@@Audfile Not really, not when you’re talking about the full three and two way heritage horns…very few speakers sound better.
