LPS FLOP? Where are The Popular Pets, Basic Fun? 

It's already been confirmed they'll bring back Main 5s. I like what Basic Fun is doing right now. Reproducing uncommon molds gives collectors an opportunity to get their hands on pets that were otherwise difficult to obtain. I've been collecting since 2008 and my ultimate goal was to have at least one of every mold. Achieving this was nearly impossible when the Clydesdale horse and bull sold for $50+. Most of these molds only had 1-3 designs so I'm really happy they're giving them more attention. BF KNOWS fans want main 5s. BF also knows the demand for old LPS is so high we'll buy them no matter what. My theory is we'll start to see more commonly used molds (bonbon cats, ferrets, persians, polar bears, etc) around the Summer. Once the hype "dies down" by the start of 2025, THEN they'll begin cranking out the main 5s everyone is asking for. It's not a flop. I believe if they released main 5s off the bat, fans won't be as excited for future releases. Plus, scalpers... 😬. The scalping problem is horrible as is. I can't imagine how much worse it would be with popular molds/designs.

Some people are forgetting that the relaunch of LPS was not just for older fans/collectors. They are - without a shadow of a doubt - toys for children. Some of us may have helped with this relaunch, but again, we are far from the target demographic. If anything, these new LPS are going to specifically be more aimed at kids who have never seen LPS of the G2 variety in stores - especially on a larger scale than just finding a few old ones lurking around. With that in mind, it makes even more sense to begin by releasing molds that were not all that common back in the day.

As a kid, the toys that were the most 'playable' such as ones that had a neutral mold were the ones I would play with. The less 'playable ones' were usually statues in my play world 😂

I personally wanna see more new mould species - more dragon types, continent-species packs and themes (Marsupial lineups with stuff like Sugar Gliders, Thylacines, Opossums, etc), and re-creations of popular pet designs with specific new paint features so the older ones still hold their value. If Basic Fun released Savvy without her Sportiest eye-spots and gave her plain circular shaped ones, new collectors would still be able to get Savvy, while the original ones wouldn't lose what made them special!

Womp womp the "popular" molds are only that way because folks won't take off their rose-tinted glasses. You might as well buy bootlegs.

Maybe they are just making the none main 5 pets first & maybe later on they will make the main 5 pets

My only guess for them not including any mail 5 pets is that they’re trying to determine how well the pets will sell without people trying to just get the most popular pets. But the second wave has me worried

I wish they did something similar to minecraft vote system, like they put all the old lps models and people would vote for the ones they love the most and they would produce new lps toys according to the vote results.

I think they'll make the main 5 in the future ^^ but BasicFun is just doing the less common pets first

To be honest, I don't mind not getting the popular LPS molds right now. I like the pets that are out there right now.

I think they want to release main 5 favorites after they release other animals, so that people don’t buy JUST the main 5, and let the other sets on the shelves, by prioritising the most loved molds. I thought it was quite smart, so that they can make money AND release every most wanted molds at different times, and plus, the hype continues and customers have a moment to enjoy the new LPS released before buying more, etc… Love you video setting btw

I love the fan favorites but I'm a big fan of the huskys and greyhounds and they also don't have them. 😭

While I do like the fact that Basic Fun is reviving some of the lesser known molds, I can understand why many are still upset that there were no Main Fives released. However, I believe that if Basic Fun were to make reproductions of some of the more popular Main Five molds (like #339 and #556 for example), then their resale value would decrease drastically on sites like Ebay.

That’s weird to me since I collect nearly all lps besides cats and dogs 😅also the more I hear the word “lps popular” it’s starting to piss me off 😬

Weird marketing. Sales would be insane if they made a few main 5s. No need to make lots, but even ONE main 5 would help. Also, I dont really like the neon/bright colored pets. Ik this is just my own preference, but we NEED more pastel ones. Most collectors arent kids and they must consider that. They dont speak much to their target audience. BF wants our opinions, but doesnt seem to have considered them. PS. We are all allowed to share opinions and complaints. We have been soo patient. We have been waiting for ten years. We deserve to be heard.. Unpopular opinion- I feel like Hasbro should have simply brought back the old LPS without "giving" them to basic fun. They would be available in more countries, because hasbro is more popular anyways. Hoping that basic fun improves and releases pets to more countries. Oh no it's the first time I saw the leaked lps and they look so...underwhelming...Those random symbols are so obnoxious and ruin some of the pets designs but WHY SO MANY REPEATED MOLDS? The there is only one new one😭 Edit: I just noticed that the there are a lot of repeated accessories too💀

you are right about the supply and demand but personally I don't want 50 shorthair cats just in different color i love the fact that they are now bringing back some of the non popular animal molds and they still made some cats and dogs I know they are not the main five pets but who cares they are cute and I'm not saying that I don't love the main five pets I love them but they are so overrated (no hate btw just wanna share my own opinion💗)

most likely, they are not releasing popular pets now because they want to make them as accessible as possible to everyone, because some people will resell them for more.

If they just remade the LPS popular characters they would make thousands and people would be happy😭😭

I believe they are still getting feedback on the first wave but eventually they will make main 5s, once they understand the color concept with the pets already made.

Correct me if im wrong but werent the first releases of g2 back in the day mostly cats and dogs? Maybe theyre just giving the less popular pets a chance by showcasing their new designs first, even the new cat and dogs.we did get were less popular molds

Something basic fun did well (imo) is that they brought back some molds that are pretty expensive in the g2 line, such as clydesdales, iguanas and the bull to name a few. I do hope they bring back the dogs and cats tho, and this is coming from someone who LOVES to collect the other species of animals in lps. But i have to admit, im missing the cats and dogs in this wave. The pets that im really excited to see come back are probably the Persian, bulldog and dragon moulds. You made some really good points in this video. Hopefully basic fun gives us some more dogs and cats next wave

Im glad someone is talking abput the no main five lps everyone just talked positively with no actual substance or criticism. I agree with a lot of your points you talked about in your video. I hope they listen to the fans and finally make some popular molds again.

I understand the complaint, it is what I wondered 2. But I do think that they are still bringing back the old LPS That is what all of us have been wanting for like 12 years and if you don't give them some slack you might end up being disappointed. It is 1 step at a time and currently the new LPS have just hit stores. I never thought that the older LPS will come back because it looked like hasbro had dropped the concept. Main 5 LPS would be awesome And it probably will happen sometimes but in the mean time we should be grateful that they're even bringing them back at all.

I'm sure the Big 5 will return in a later wave we just need to be patient. xCanadensis who was at Toy Fair confirmed that they will return and I think other people have as well. I guess you could argue about why they didn't add them in the first wave and I don't know why they didn't but personally I don't think they needed to do that for the brand to be successful. I really like the direction they went with actually. They chose molds that had only been used a few times which is appealing for the old collectors like myself and a lot of them are actually cats and dogs which I agree is what's most popular and would probably satisfy kids and new collectors. I kinda agree on the blind boxes tho, I which they would use more different molds. The only new reused mold is the Scottie. This is only Wave 1 after all tho, I think we will all be satisfied in the end when more Waves have been released.

I get what they were trying to do but this launch was not it! some are good but overall not the best hopefully the second launch will be better and less bright and colorful !

Just got my hands on some of the new LPS and I'm mixed on the molds they used. I'm really glad there's ones I remember distinctly owning as a child in there and there are PLEANTY I'd love to get my hands on even still in the blind boxes but I am shocked they didn't use any of the big five. I'd love to get my hands on genuine big five pets and it's a huge shame and REALLY ODD they didn't do ANY of them.

I just know how much money they would squeeze out of ME if they released a bunch of big 5 pets!

3:59 that image of "wave 2" is clearly edited, if you zoom in on the images of the pets its pixely, like its been edited and just paint bucketed over (look at the llama for example). which would honestly explain why its all the same molds from wave 1, the person who edited it must of been EXTREMELY lazy. so i wouldnt worry at all about wave 2, after all, basic fun is still figuring things out

I actually like the G7 Littlest Pet Shops, especially the axolotls and pelicans. I do hope they make the Main 5 Pets, but I wish the underrated molds could get a fair chance! I love the Main 5 Pets but I feel like they unfairly overshadow other LPS types, like the birds, sharks, and big cats [tigers, lions, etc...]. I do respect everyone's opinions, though.

I think the community should have more patience right now

I know nothing about toy manufacturing and why they're making the decisions they're making, but I think it's fun to discuss anywhere so here are my theories! I don't know why they're not capitalizing on at least more cats and dogs even if they're not the "main five" ones, but I feel like they're not making the main fives right now for a few reasons. 1, if they came right out with the highly desired ones right away people would most likely only stick around for those pets and not buy into all of the ones we're getting now. 2, if they did so AND the main fives were done badly or just didn't meet the expectations from the community, everyone would treat this rerelease as a flop and give up on it. 3, I wonder if they even have all of the main fives still? if you notice, most of the molds are the exact same physical mold as the G2 pets we all love, their bellies even say the year such as 2009, but the panda who is one of the only G7 pets that's reworked says 2023. Even though I'm looking forward to more cats and dogs, I do like that they're using these molds especially ones like the centipede, otter, fox cat, and more.

Tbh, it seems they're deciding to bring back less popular molds to give them a bit more spotlight. It wouldn't surprise me if they don't bring back the big five for a while.

This is only wave 1 there gonna make more so we’ll probably get the “popular” pets later on. I like that there bringing back rarer moulds tho some of my fave moulds arnt as popular

I was really happy to see the anteater. I'd also love to see swans, squirrels and chinchillas, they're my favourite molds. Even tho main fives are not really my favourites, I also don't understand, why they would not produce them. I think many people would go crazy to get them. Understandably. They kinda missed an opportunity in marketing these toys.

Y'all chill. I think they should bring back G2 types too like the Big 5 bc for example collectors born after 2011 could not get them, and they are js too pricy online. But also give these a chance! i remember G1 flopped but G2 ate. We just have to give a chance to both! Also, if they will add any Big 5 next time into G8, they would fight for them like preppies for stanleys! Its the best if we wait, and since Big 5 arr hella pricy (even G7 is a lil pricy too) we gotta save up. IF they add Big 5 anytime soon, count on that they are going to be quite expensive..

i love that they made new variations of old molds, but i do wish they brought back the older molds. especially the popular ones. i also don’t love the brightness of the colours, i wish there were some neutral ones or just paler colours.

Idk if it's just me, but im also looking for remade lps "shops" (aka, the houses!!) as well as the accessories. Still scrounging my parent's house for my old set!

Yeah it's quite a sarow that the most popular ones are not being made but hopefully eventually they'll come out.

I do hope they come out with more variety of pets, like hey just get all the molds and remake, but also like please dont over due the highlighted colors, on exotic pets or ocean ones it can work, but in like dogs and cats it can get a bit bizarre. Also i want a cheetah mold so bad, but like i know they would just yse the big cat mold, make it well give it spots like a leopard and it would never actually look like a cheetah

I do think this release of pets has been messy, there's been printing/plastic errors, they've not been clear with which stores they were releasing pets in nor the date of their release at first, and heck the LPS Roblox game was very and still is buggy now and on its initial release. I get what you mean in that the colors are very bright, although its not unusual for LPS to always have a gimmick. After all the G2 matte eye LPS were more naturally colored where as the 2nd wave brought in more unique colors and the glossy eyes then the 3rd wave was pretty brightly colored LPS. I do agree in that I'd like to see a variety of colors ranging from natural, pastel, and darker colors (like black, grey, and white) along side these brightly neon colored pets!! My personal favorites are naturally colors or darkly colored LPS :] It's def just the start of the release of pets, it seems that Basic Fun may just be testing the waters of how this will sell and hopefully will been tossing in new molds!! After all they are using printers and machines to paint the pets instead of the original hand-painted method which may be another reason they're slowly rolling out these pets to make sure they work out any messy paint jobs which they've had plenty of. As much as the "Big 5 pets" aren't top favorite molds of mine, I do agree it would be smart to have more dogs and cats as they are the bestsellers!! Some of my favorite molds include dogs and cats!! I do appreciate how they're focusing on the molds that didn't have many released, I actually really like that. I actually like the new LPS coming out although I agree in that repeating molds isn't the best, variety would be snazzy!!!! As far as I can tell it seems the sales are doing well as there's a LOT of people buying them and they're consistently being sold out and I can't imagine how much more they'd sell with doing a large variety of things. Good thing is Basic Fun seems to be listening to the people, so hopefully they'll hear us out and take suggestions for what to do. I personally hope they don't continue copying designs from the G2s, I'd rather have new designs even though the designs they've remade aren't LPS I have.

I love it! this is exactly what I was thinking! edit: omg the more I watch this video the more I think you're so smart!! also, a great example of what they should and could be doing is what lpsloverqa has accomplished so far, making new designs of everyone's favorite lps molds and even new variants, it's clearly been successful and could be even better if it was produced by a big company with more assets.

I personally like it. It’s good that they’re giving some other pets a chance especially because some of them are actually really underrated for example, the jaguar model I currently have the blind box version of that one and I’m not sure if that’s the older version but it’s still really good and I do really like the golden doodle ones too they kind of remind me of the spaniels, so they’ll probably become the new spaniels, but I do definitely wish they were like dachshund and stuff but they aren’t

Honestly the title and the thumbnail of this video made me a bit mad because this is only the first release of lps and there will be many more to come after this but after watching this video I think it’s very true! I really hope the lps will get better because out of all 69 new pets theres only 9 pets I actually like and out of those 9 pets, theres 3 of them I just feel kind of meh about. I don’t like the REALLY bright colors on all of them. I know that they are trying to attract both older collectors and kids (mostly kids) but I wish that they did more neutral colors and pastel colors. I really love lps 2291 (the pink glitter cat) she is one of my favorite lps cats in my collection and I think the reason why the bright colors work so well is because she isn’t ALL pink and the white works well with the design, also because not all of the hasbro lps look like that. Theres plenty of neutral colored lps but also some bright ones as well. (I wish there was more pastel ones lol) I think what basic fun is trying to do with this release is try to attract kids instead of collectors with wave 1, but then will start making main 5 pets again. I also hope basic fun stops recreating already existing lps. With the “leaked wave 2” photo, I think it looks obviously edited. I hope they do better in wave 2 and start actually doing good research!

THAT may have been a joke but still, you have so many amazing and true points, if they start making and putting out the big 5, in blind bangs and even playsets, i think their sales will sky rocket, im a lps collector for YEARS and i think its just totally fair. I hope some of their team does listen to people and their concerns and comments, as since they are attempting to bring back molds from g2 they can atleast bring back some of the the ones that people adored most, but in different or so colors or maybe even the same, i just hope they do come out with the big 5 soon.

I like some of the more unique animal molds. I grew up with the first 2000s gen molds. they didnt have a lot of like the wild cat molds, or safire animals, even finding woodland critters was difficult. by the time the more variety came out, it was considered inappropriate for someone of my age to recieve them as gifts and by the time i ws making my own money, i thought i was over them, but im not.

I would so love if basic fun could send me the whole lps pack everyone's been getting, ik that may sound a bit selfish and that I can just buy them in stores..? Well ima be honest, there not a single lps at Walmart or Target where I am. Then when I called gamestop they said they got them, but within minutes sold out. And they still haven't restalked them at all.

The reason I wanted the reunion of lps was for more choices in top 5s.... the molds they picked so far are really cute and all.... it's just we all wanted more top 5s so we can buy them in stores for a way cheaper price. Chihuahuas and huskies too.... like they picked some of the least favorite molds 😂 Axolotl, iguana, and lucky cat mold are cute tho! I can't find the wolf anywhere yet... 😢 And i doubt THAT many people are gonna buy those two 5 packs... they just didnt come with any super dream pets. No top 5s

I think the main 5 will come in the next wave, I remember there being a pamphlet with shorthairs. I think there would be an even bigger price/scalper problem if they released main 5 first launch.

My theory is that they might release them as single exclusive pets. They have to know the popularity of the main 5 so it would be only fitting if they make it exclusive or try and up the price. Hopefully they will bring them back Also when you said that fake lps are the same cost of the new lps it’s because the new lps are really no different then the fakes. It’s not just the fact they have squishy heads like the fakes but the head doesn’t move as easily (I think it’s the plastic with the neck plug but not sure) It makes since why the new lps are cheaper then the ones made by Hasbro it’s because they are made of cheaper material. Don’t get me wrong I love the new lps but the super squishy heads take a lot of time to get used to

i've seen people say that the main 5 will be coming in maybe wave 3, hopefully thats true. I never got to own a official collie (well, i own one, but its not the popular collies) i would buy a collie just to own one

unpopular opinion but i think it will be a terrible idea to bring back big 5s right now considering how awful the release was and the amount of insane scalpers just imagine what they would do when big 5s come out

It's been the first 2 waves and I'm hoping the main 5 will come back. Sadly my mum threw away all my old lps so most of my collection is gone and i really want to start collecting again. I would love if main 5 was back

Theres absolutely no way basic fun isnt aware of the demand for the cats and dogs, and theres no way they arent planning on releasing some. Its just baffling why theyre waiting to release them. There HAS to be a reason why theyre holding the big 5 pets back. I just cant think of a reason

This makes me pretty mad. Yes everyone wants this and that but it's new they JUST made all of these the fact lps is here again is amazing. It's the first wave they are testing the waters as far as the redesign of the same molds again they are testing the waters maybe they are pushing this second wave out so they can focus on working on new things new cats and dogs or whatever and there are actually pets out reptiles are very popular pets. And farm animals are still pets in some degree. I couldn't finish this video.
