In part 1 of this 2 part series, I explain an updated workflow for editing your timelapse footage without the need to relocate the timelapse sequence in your Lightroom library. Instead of using the LRTimelapse importer by dragging and dropping into a new Lightroom window, we simply pass the XMP sidecar files back and forth between Lightroom and LRT. Your files stay in place the whole time. This tutorial covers keyframe creation, keyframe editing in Lightroom, visual deflicker and video export and render all in LRTimelapse.
Editing, color correcting, and deflickering a timelapse doesn't have to be challenging and time-consuming. Using LRTimelapse, we can quickly keyframe, color-grade, and deflicker your timelapse sequence with excellent precision.

I gotta say you did a really good job on this. I watched a lot of other videos on this subject and felt you clarified the areas that I was struggling with. Your presentation is good, succinct and nicely functional. Even the end where you just hacked on the subscribe request. What is wrong with that? It gets the job done and imparts the needed information with no flashy graphics. The focus in on articulation and clear representation of the information needed. I subscribed and look forward to other very very useful videos.

Thanks so much Paul, I enjoyed making this one! I’m very glad it helped you learn more about the program, sometimes the concepts around the XMP sidecar files trip people up. I have other videos planned, just need to finish up some recent client work before I dive back into creating more RU-vid videos - til next time!

Really imformative video. Thanks for taking the time. BTW, man are you lucky to live with that view-- is that Lake Cuomo, or somewhere in CO? All kidding aside, you are a really good teacher-- very clear and detailed. Thanks!

I can't get my radial gradient to follow the milky way across the timelapse at all, I just get flicker. I have used the ones it allows and then applied the sync gradient across all the keyframes. BUT it flickers. All ive changed is the exposure and clarity and position (not shape) of the filter.
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 3 года назад
Don’t use clarity! It will cause contrast Flicker. I also don't often use radial gradients in LRT. I stick mostly to the graduated filter or color correcting in Premiere / Davinci
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 3 года назад
Generally avoid using Highlight/Shadows, Contrast, Clarity, Dehaze as they will add contrast flicker to your exported sequences.

@@FrameworkFilms ahh that makes sense. I tried to correct the frames that flickered with exposures but it didnt work. clarity WAS 50-100

Why didn't you use the script /sync keyframes option?
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 3 года назад
That script allows you to sync your edits while incorporating custom gradients. I keep my editing pretty minimal in Lightroom and handle heavier color grades in the video editing software. You can use that script of course! It’s usually not part of my workflow

Can we see a holy grail workflow? Not the whole thing just how you would choose your keyframes and adjust the HolyGrail sequence
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 4 года назад
Yes, I plan to make more tutorials and my Holy Grail workflow is one of them. Been held up lately with some client work!

I thought it stood for LIGHTROOM timelapse!

I think it used to be until they had to change their name - now it’s light Ramp / Level Ramp. I thought so too when I first started using it, though it makes sense for Gunther, founder, to brand independent of the adobe product suite 😉

Framework Films I really wish he WAS brand independent and made one that worked with capture one!
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 4 года назад
I’ve never used capture one but if you think about it, LRTimelapse only passes metadata between programs- is there a way to read / write metadata from file in capture one? I may be able to find a work around - that’s a great idea for a tutorial :]
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 4 года назад
Ah so here lies the issue: “Above all, Capture One will never write metadata to source files; all metadata changes are done via proxy file.” support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002544898-Metadata-in-XMP-files
@hautehussey
@hautehussey 4 года назад
Framework Films no, it could definitely be done, it writes to the .cos files in the capture one folders. And they’re just simple xml files.
