Degreasing our LS for the Miata! We are rebuilding a wrecked Miata and doing an LS swap as we go. In this episode, out junkyard LS gets all cleaned up and ready to install in the Miata. We also remove some broken exhaust studs and Install an LSX Innovations low mount alternator bracket. This video will show you how we DIY build and save money. The budget LS swap Miata is moving forward in full force and we are saving tons of money, having a blast, and doing the work ourselves!

You're kind of goofy, I like it. Dollar store LA Awesome and Oven Cleaner are the jam but do hurt the aluminums a bit. I should start using diesel

Just use Carb cleaner, it doesn’t leave any grease behind. Perfect all around cleaner. Trust me 👌 Just spray and wipe it. Or don’t wipe, it evaporates on its own

Glad to see you're back! I'm currently cleaning my engine and trying to figure out what oil pan to use. Thinking of getting an F body oil pan and modifying it.

The oven cleaner works great, it just makes the aluminum look terrible. I couldn’t fit an F body pan, sure would have been cheaper and less prone to leak.

I'm confused, you spray degreaser down the intake ports and think nothing about it. Next you cover the engine because a metal chip might fly up a foot and get in the engine.

Great work Jeff. Is the Speedway oil pan you are using the one with a remote oil filter fittings or the oil filter housing connected to the pan?

That’s awesome! Love me some Mopar! What is the hemi out of? You could do the exhaust like the hell kitty. Then when it’s time to add turbos it’s already there for you.

@@dmvchannel3280 it's out of my 2010 ram hahaha!!! I just grabbed another 2009 hemi that had lifter failure. rebuilding that with a cam, springs and gap the rings for booooost. then to make sure nothing I own is serialized I'll take my trucks motor set up with just a cam and intake and toss it in the miata with a muncie 4 speed behind it hopefully! but yeah I thought about that but I think it would be too crazy. if I got that motor doing 420hp ish that would be well more than enough for a street car. hellkitty is my only reference so far and they had a hard time getting the exhaust to go back

I spent the money on the Terminator. I have a truck harness but the price and the ability of the Holley settled the debate for me. Though, it was still hard to let loose of the cash.

DMV Channel is it hard to get the ac and all the accessories working because it’d be great if I could but not the end of the world if I couldn’t get it done it’s a track car either way

It is not that bad to get all the accessories working. Tons of info on the Google. We will be using a cheap aftermarket wiring harness and most of the factory switches. We are cutting tons of electrical stuff out and building a fun haver. No daily driver for us. We are keeping it as simple as we can. Using the stock Miata harness and the Holley ECU is pretty simple if you decide to go that route.

What does the diesel fuel do ? I’ve cleaned an old 350 with oven cleaner before then wire brushed the stuff off before paint . Curious about diesel fuel

I didn’t want to rinse the motor with water so I used diesel. The diesel is an amazing grease cutter as well but the main goal was to rinse the oven cleaner and reimagining grease off.

You mentioned in one of your other videos you pulled the first motor from a 2004 or so Tahoe. Then replaced it with a new one. What LS truck motor did you end u going with? I am debating between aluminum vs cast iron LS engines for my swap.

I bought another iron 5.3. I am definitely trying to be cheap and follow the Sloppy Mechanic formula. Taylor Ray recently bought an aluminum 6.2 out of an Escalade for $2000. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FjUVVaAEpqs.html . Worth considering if your budget allows.
