We build the 6l80 transmission mount adapter and reuse the TJ rubber mount, Like on this Jeep we put a Dana 44 in the rear and a slip yoke eliminator. On a TJ we never reuse the stock drive shaft in the rear, we do reuse the front drive shaft.
We have done many LS Truck engine and used the truck Alternator, but we have found using the Trail Blazer Alternator and power steering bracket works best, so than you can reuse your power steering pump and it is higher up.
I bought my TJ with the sole intention of LS swapping it. After building a few Jeep inline stroker motors I will NEVER waste the time or money on an LS swap. My TJ is built exactly like a friends , the only difference is his has a Corvette 5.7 LS , cost $10,000 and a hundred hrs to build, and mine has the original engine built and stroked to 4.6. They run side by side on the drag strip and mine makes torque much lower in the rpm range which helps offroad. I didn't have to run adapters, piggyback or stand alone ecm's , don't have packaging problems, cooling issues, and I can run my original air box instead of a crappy open element filter that should never be on an offroad vehicle. Unless you are running tons and 40" tires or larger there is no reason to LS swap , unless you just like wasting time and money. There is also no better feeling than blowing the doors off a V8 swapped jeep with a inline 6 cylinder at the dirt drags.
@@bdd1469 I get that part, we have had some problems with stoker 4.0L engines. We do not see many Jeep's older than 2006 anymore. The 4.0L Jeep is slowly slipping away, everyone wants the 4 door Jeeps and a new group of problems.
If it cost him $10k to build, he wasted his money. For $10k I could have one swapped AND making 700hp with EASE. Any LS swap not using a truck engine is a waste of money.
Nice project, im trying to do the same project here in nj and i will loke to know where you got the kit from, im pulling my engine from a avalanche do i need the whole harness waaring transfercaese and transmission of that truck thanks
@@jeepspeedshop how can i get in touch with you. I will like to be closer to you but im in nj. Also i want to now if i can use the same wiring to romove it from the avalanche and the transfercase
Well on the Jeep we used the 6L80 and the stock Jeep cable worked, now this Jeep had a 42RLE transmission and the cable worked great. We have a cable mount for the 6L80 and the newer TJ
Just so you know this is not smog legal in California right now, we use a L99 out of a Camaro and the 6L80 transmission. Used, we could do it new also.
hi i have a jeep lj rubicon with a nsg370 transmission i would like to do that conversion how did you get all the stock gauges to work with the LS engine? do you sell a kit?
I wanna do a 5.3 in my 05 LJ, but have the 42rle. Is that safe to keep with the potential hp? I'm not afraid to get on it with the 4.0 and 37s but I worry about it with a built engine and 40-42s. I've got wontons sitting and waiting, i just wannaget my ducks in a row
We no longer do any LS conversions. But if i were to do a LS in a Jeep i would not use the Jeep 42RE transmission, I would go with the 6L80 transmission
We did use the Jeep computer to run the gauges and we build a tone ring for the crank so you will reuse the crank sensor to get the tach to work. This is the best way to do this so if you have a problem with the tach it is probably the crank sensor, it would be a easy fix.
@@jeepspeedshop do you have to remove the crank to install the tone ring? Do you sell just the ring? I'm about to dive into a 2004 TJ 5.3L swap and want to retain my factory tach!

Just needs to be newer than the car your swapping it into, needs rear o2 sensors and an evap system and cats of course. It also helps if you have a friend in the system! Hahah
We are Jeep Speed Shop and we build our own LS kit. We do not need a tach convertor box, we use a tone ring on the crank and reuse the crank sensor from the Jeep to make it easier to fix down the road. Plus our kit is all new, we do not reuse wiring. The resin why we are not thanking Novak is because they did not help with any of this. This is why we build the best LS kit for the TJ. We make it simple for you the end user, YOU.
chevrock22 I’m surprised that you haven’t deleted your stupid comment. I guess stupid is as stupid does? Oh, and the use of, “lol” makes you look like a child.
@@chrisd8837 Do you have a video of it posted? Also, who did you use for marrying the LS to the NV3550. I am in the middle of a 6.0LS swap right now with an NV3550. How did it turn out and are you pleased with it? Any issues so far?
The title is very misleading. "LS TJ the best LS Kit out there." You don't talk about anything like it's a kit. The title implies there's a set of components that comprises a kit. I was hoping for something that would offer something competitive to the pricey Novak options. But it's a sleeper... we get it. Done any YJ swaps? I've got a 6.0L going in my '87.
