Brilliant review. Thanks for taking the time to do this long term review! I have already been sold on this lid and it’s on its way from Germany. Very excited and just watching more videos about it before it’s mine! Many thanks again.
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure I ride a 701 Supermoto thats fluo yellow and grey so I went for last years safety spec (EC22.05) just to get the Yellow/Grey/Carbon that the Carbon Explorer Focus comes in. This colour scheme has red unfortunately in the newer safety spec (EX22.06) so I chose not to get the new new one. They are pretty much the same anyways. But I’m short, yellow Carbon and grey aha.
Lovely video. You covered every possible aspect of it and it's super helpful for anyone who is planning to buy one of these. Great work. Love from India.
Very informative, thank you 🙏🏼 , I have heard other there English more British and also the Ireland speech I am left scratching my head. Only for I am not so immersed , I will follow you
I've had an LS2 Carbon (2 actually) for 2.5 years, 11k miles. The sun shade mechanism, is terrible. Failed in both helmets in short order. Useable but a pita. I use an xl with every other helmet I've owned. This is a XXXL and it's still quite tight. I use a Lexin com system, and I have a chin mounted gopro 8. Not at all happy with the warranty. They refused to do anything about the sun shade not working, stating because I altered the cheek pads. Thankfully Amazon took care of any issues and provided a second replacement helmet for a restocking fee. I bought a new bike a few months ago and I'm experiencing wind noise. If I don't get that resolved I'll most likely buy a Shoie neotec 2. Overall, this is the most expensive but best helmet I've owned in 50+ years of riding.
thanks for your comment Wayne. Oddly enough i emailed LS2 to say i had bought this helmet and had been quite happy with it so far. I further mentioned i was a content creator and made a video about it. Its probably been a month or so later and not one email back! I'm surprised as this as it should of a response. you mention the lack of interest on there warranty i can see why. if they cant even bother to get back to someone who actually likes the product, then this concerns me. Well if the refuse to fix anything ill just make a video! :) I do agree with your last statement that this is the most expensive and best helmet I've ever owned.
Thanks for sharing this review. I’ve always had Arai & Shoei but I’m looking for a budget helmet for some on and off road riding. I think this is going to be the one.
I have the same, excellent purchase BTW. I have a chin mount camera, so trying to unlock the visor was the only complaint ...coz, ive always had helmets that release from the left... Excellent review ! ... oh and sooo comfy :)
@@buddy_info yeah wind noise isn't great. Like most adventure helmets there isn't much sound dampening. Excellent air flow and comfort. I use earplugs for long tours. Consider subscribing if you haven't already. There is a good library of videos available to you. Thanks for your view time.
Did you face any noise related issues, and have you tried it on a rainy day, and have you tried the helmet while driving at 100+ kmph speed? Any issues on the above mentioned in LS2 Explorer HPFC model
@@tonyanton7325 no issues with rain. I have this thing in down pours! Wind noise is another matter. Helmet is suited more for airflow so expect noise to be on the high side. Only issue as mentioned in the video, other than that it is a great helmet. Enjoying it.
How about the space/room around ears area? Do they have enough space to put speakers? Shoei always gives generous space, Schubert & Scorpion are so so, Arai & Shark are not so. I almost always ride in groups with radio communication, so installing speakers is a must.
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure Ah I see.. One more thing, I assume this helmet has a very good ventilation as well. I have an LS2 enduro helmet (MX470), it has the best ventilation to your whole head compare to any enduro helmets, hands down. I live in Indonesia, a tropical country, very hot & humid. Good ventilation is very important. By the way, I also wear glasses..😁😁
Here is another opinion: It squeeks and rattles. Pinlock gets scratched just by opening and closing the visor. Double D ring strap got frayed after about 6 months of moderate use. I will not say it is noisy, but quiet it definitely is not. Good thing for me is the fit. No complaints there. But… If you have the money to buy a better helmet (that fits ok) do it. This is all after one year of ownership for me
Thanks so much for your comment. everyone has told me that adv helmets are loud. having experienced it seems pretty normal to me. never tried the pinlock. other than the fault i mentioned in the video thats about all i came across. thanks again
I have the LS2 Explorer and didn´t noticed any of these issues. For me its a very good and save helmet. Only after about two years i noticed some pilling at the cheek pads.
Really appreciate this review - looking at this exact helmet - can you comment on noise levels and any water ingress (it’s rains sometimes in Ireland) 😂
Hi Rob, water ingress has never been a problem for me. Just make sure your vents are closed. Even with some vents open as I have forgotten to close them it's been fine. It is a loud helmet as most adventure helmets are. Decent level of wind noise. I use a good set of quality ear plugs for long rides in the saddle which I've used on my older road helmet anyway. I just installed a Bluetooth headset on this one too and a video is available. Headsets are almost impossible to fit to adventure helmets. Thanks for the comment
Thx 4 the vid! Sorry, I didn't understand: does it have a quick lock, or a double ring for the strap? I have a motocross LS2 helmet, and it feels super high quality. I Will probably get one Like yours 4 touring. Regarding the earphones: does it have spacings already, or will I have to cut some foam out? Thanks!
I didn't hear you mention it, but I may have missed it... do you wear your glasses when you ride? And if so, how did you find it to be when you put on your glasses? I'm finding it hard to find ADV helmets at the low-mid price range that have good fitment with glasses.
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure Thanks so much for the quick reply! Glad to hear it, so many I've tried are awful for that. Sounds like I've found my next helmet then for a price the wife won't have me sleeping on the sofa for. 😄
I love my ls2 explorer. I tried to remove the peak and keep visor installed. But screws didnt maintain the visor in place . It is necessary a washer or an other accesorie ?
Hi Ben.... Thanks, great review, everything about this helmet seems to suit my needs, other than, it seems it's not really suitable for a comm's unit? (I only use this for sat nav instructions but its important for me) this has also been said on other reviews, I just don't get it, a major brand not falling into line with peoples requirements... Was also looking at the Tour X4, a bit pricy for me and no sun visor.. 🤔🤔
Hi Ian. Thanks for the comment. I have tried a coma unit Sena in the helmet. The speakers fit fine but the exterior unit is difficult to attach as the only place to put it is at the side rear of the helmet. I decided to just leave it as I didn't have any double sided tape handy and the velcrow i was using juts didn't do the job and it kept coming off.
@EireRider Motorcycle Adventures still not written it off as a potential future lid... I'll go try it on and have a chat, see if I can be convinced....👍👍
I have been using the MX700 Subverter Evo for enduro riding and now bought my first adventure bike which got me to check our adventure helmets. MX701 Carbon has been an option but I see you seem to be very happy with the non carbon version. Have you considered getting the carbon version?
Thanks for the review! I just got mine from Amazon. I did not get the accessories you showed. Only the helmet, bag and innebag. No pinlock och helmet rest. Anyone here who had the same? Seems like the helmet was returned previously and someone kept the goodies. 🤔🤷
I quite like riding with visor up two clicks for ventilation but still have eye protection. From what I can see the LS2 has no positions at all apart from up and down? Can you have it half way or 3/4 ?
Hi Orange, the visor is still so you can leave the visor half way or even a little. I do this and have had no issues. It may not have preset for positions but it works.
So apparently the inflatable pillow you mentioned is actually a neck brace to wear below the helmet around your neck for off-road riding. Sean a write up about it.
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure I seen it in a different video and I can’t remember which one it was. Also I’ve watched other helmet videos from other manufacturers and they include them as well. Most seem to use them for neck pillows when flying. Lol.
@@ninjazxd thanks very much. Just tried the pillow around my neck doesn't quite fit properly also the rubber edges stick into your neck. Not something I would using. Appreciate your comment. Still very vague though no information on there website with some people saying its for the helmet when your working on it. Strange though the helmet isn't even thst heavy. It's lighter than my old helmet.
Maybe because it is a long oval? I find not enough is said about shell shapes - i.e. round, oval or long oval. I am an extreme long oval so sensitive to that.
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure Thanks, all is well. I am currently shopping for a new helmet. However, with a 62 cm long oval, I am used to buying helmets that kind of fit but still kills me after a few hours on the bike. I believe the Arai Signet or Profile is the answer, but sadly, it is not available here. Now I see this helmet is referred to as a long oval, so I am really excited to go try one out. Fortunately, well stocked here.
top vents are real or just fake as on Nexx WRL? how about puting ear speakers inside, is there cuttouts for them, as i hear theres no cuttouts and instaling comm system is problematic
i want to use this helmet for riding a jetski in cold weather, so I actually want to avoid wind circulation and the inside getting wet. Do you think this helmet is effective at retaining heat and keeping water out if the vents are all closed and the shield is locked down?
The wind circulation is limited. It has the chin guard to reduce wind noise. Shouldn't be a problem with keeping water out. In regards to heat I haven't had a chance to wear it properly in winter. I haven't noted a problem during the early winter period and autumn.
Hi Sten. Like with all adventure helmet they are loader than your sport helmet. I've had it for over a year now and it doesn't bother me. For those long rides for hours I use a good set of ear plugs.
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure The LS2 Explorer Carbon was actually one of the quietest helmets tested by the guys on the Champion Helmets youtube channel. This is actually what has attracted me to this helmet, although the Explorer version of the helmet has a different shell (fiberglass instead of carbon fiber) but the overall design looks identical, so maybe this helmet is or is not quiet IDK. I will keep researching but I will just go for the carbon version if I can't find the difference.
@@Bordpie Thank you for your comment. My experience in Adventure helmets is limited but i know compared to a sport helmet its louder. not sure when compared to other adventure helmets.
@@herculeez_fadipe i had a full face helmet previously and this one is definitely loader. I use ear plugs for long journeys however I used to use them in my other helmet.
@@Robbilebobb 3 years is pretty good. Although you said hardly used. What is hardly used to you? I only ask as others have a different ratio. The only time I had an issue is when I used the sun visor it loosened the bolt for the main visor. Had to screw it back into place. Hasn't happened since.
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure bought new for a 10 day 1700 mile round trip on my way home the peak bolt one side and top peak bolt came out at approximately 70 mph Lost bolts and cover plates taken me 3 months to sort out spare no one stocks or wants to help had to jump up and down rant and rave on social media got parts yesterday only now to find the drop down sun visor mechanism is damaged as well the bolts are only just long enough I am talking mm I have just emailed them to see if it’s fixable or a bin job
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure just an update. I purchased the helmet. Bit disappointed with the drop down visor, because its not tinted enough. Must be the best vented helmet, good advice to close vents on a colder day. Good fit, looks great, happy enough 👌
@@geecee4746 thanks Geecee for the feedback. I suspect that they didn't want to do a heavy tint as if it's cloudy you would struggle to see through it. I find it just enough on those cloudier days, however glad to hear your happy with it. 👍🏻
