LSA supercharger could BREAK MY TRUCK unless I fix these two things

I cant go full throttle with my LSA single cab silverado until I fix these two things. When I first test drove my truck after installing the supercharger, I realized there were two major problems that could get a lot worse unless I took action right away. The issues were wheel hop and the stock 4l60e transmission. Thankfully, I already had the parts on-hand to cure both problems, but they needed to be installed right away before I broke something. The COPO truck is a 2000 Chevy Silverado single cab 4wd stepside that I'm turning into the ultimate sport truck, if GM could have built it this way. Think of it as a GM lightning or a full size syclone, or a single cab silverado SS, but either way, it will be a fun, light weight, traction machine.

It's nice seeing the last few Videos dealing with this truck. I'm going longer hangers today and, will be doing the same mods overall, although mine is a 2005 2500 HD. I have Helper Air bags and plan to relocate them and install an Onboard compressor with a tad bit of automation, for towing and such... still looking for the right 6.0 to build out of the truck and swap it in.

you can save the tranny by massively reducing the timing curve during shifts in the tune. This will result in the engine "bogging" down during the shift but will save the tranny. You should only have to do this for the 1/2 and 2/3 shifts. This will also help mitigate breaking the tires loose during sifting on the street during full throttle acceleration.

GM staggered the rear shocks because to keep the rear from hopping. They found this out with the 1967 Camaro Z28. That’s why they had a factory traction bar on one side of the rear. In 1968 they staggered the rear shocks and took away the traction bar.

I put an electronic shift kit on my 96 ford shortbox and what a difference that thing made. Best 50 usd go fast part i ever bought. it had a 3 position switch street, strip and off. you could already feel it in street mode and in strip it was neck snappingly crisp almost harsh and would aggrevate a sore neck if you had one. the best part was it installed from the outside to the electrical plug and was done in less than an hour!

That shim is definitely not OEM. I built 4L60s for over 10 years for a reman company. Trans-go uses the shim to take a little travel out of the function just makes the timing of the apply better. It's looking good!

@davidresar8256
@davidresar8256 2 года назад
@@chrishansen7004 OK again it's not an OE part. Have you had the truck since it was new? In the OE world the pin is selective for length that gives the right adjustment. In the field having the exact pin length is not always available, hence shims to adjust. Go find the transgo information sheet and you'll be more informed of what transgo gives to the builder to be able to get the correct adjustment.

It was a really dumb move by GM not to use the “Vette” servo in trucks that pull and tow. I installed it in my work truck simply because I despise mushy shifting auto boxes and it helps with durability. So far, 245K on my 4L60e.

I was told the pointed tip of that Servo needs to be a specific distance away from the contact point and changing that distance changes shifting characteristics I think it might be the time delay between gears what are your thoughts
@LawrenceTolman
@LawrenceTolman 2 года назад
you are correct, the pin does have to be the correct length. On my truck, the "delay" you might hear when shifting is actually the torque management pulling timing to help the transmission shift and not slip

On my 17 Silverado 5.3L, I change the radiator, the engine temperature sensors, and tried two thermostats. My engine temp gauge move about 100°C, to about 107°C. This is not normal, I know. But with your expertise and experience would you know what it could be? I'm told by my older brother, it could be air in the coolant system. I'm not sure. But my brother is telling me to drain the whole system again and refill it. Would you have any idea what it could be.

Depends on the thermostats, some run cooler, some hotter
@JustinLetandre
@JustinLetandre 2 года назад
@@shadowopsairman1583 I'm in Canada, they only sell a 98°c thermostat. That's the hottest I'm guessing it's for our colder climates on the winter. I remember when I was younger I could get a colder one and a hotter. But just last week it started going like that after my thermostat decided to quit on me. I replaced the thermostat in the fall before winter. It was steady @98°C never went over, I even double checked on the scanner. Never once went over 98°C. Now I replaced two brand new thermostats and it still wants to hit about 107°C when I tow a load, but comes back down to 98°C after I hit normal highway speeds.
@hayden6056
@hayden6056 2 года назад
@@JustinLetandre within 9 degrees under heavy load of the thermostat being fully open is definitely within spec. Depending on the pressure of your cap your boiling point will be 115-120. I'd be ordering a 92 degree thermostat and have your fans come on at 95 if worried. Can even go an 87 if keen but may use more fuel as combustion will be less effective.
