Walking the beach at Florida's Honeymoon Island State Park in the early morning of Sunday August 11th.
So nice to get back to a small backpack with some water, a 3000 spinning combo and a couple of lures. That just screams Florida in the summertime.
The surf is really up, the water clarity is still poor from T.S. Debbie, but I stuck to the biological facts, Snook will be in the swash and trough feeding in the summertime.
The Mirrodine 27MR in Pork Rinds had the clear advantage in casting distance as it could punch through the wind all the way to the breakers.
As the sun came up and I moved North to the natural part of the beach where the trough is deeper, the Salt Strong Power Prawn on the 1/4oz Hoss Weedless Football Jig offered the better advantage of being able to fish the bottom of the trough.
Four and a half Snook into 2 hours. The half Snook spit the hook right at the surf line but that's okay because I know where he lives.
