So the average CFB player is a "free" agent after the football season ends and is able to go play for whatever CFB team pays him the most. This is just like the average worker in America moving to another company for a pay raise.

No you dont understand in order for sport to properly function players need a manufactured loyalty to some bigger thing. They need to be locked in to a team so that the fans will get behind them. If they arent playing for anything but money it becomes flat and stale. At first i was going to try to make this sound funny but it’s just kind of sad.

Im a nerd and just want the best highest level sport possible. But that’s not most people yall care more about the spectacle of it all and this is what results.

This is a very good point that deserves some nuance and in-depth discussion regarding the differences between a pro athlete and the average workplace. One counter-point I would make would be what's better for the sport as a whole? Do people want to see just a few teams dominate like huge corporations or is the sport better off with an even playing field. That said, I'll admit....CFB has always been closer to the "only a few teams dominating the sport"

I've been saying this ever since NIL started. There has to be a maximum limit on the amount of money that a player can get. I'd say $500,000 - $750,000 would be a reasonable amount. There isn't anything wrong with a player making money, for 2 reasons. Most of the players come from poor families living in rough neighborhoods. Secondly, they're putting their bodies at harm's risk every time that they step on the field. I've been mentioning paying the players years before NIL was even a concept & or idea. However, this wasn't intended to make players rich. That's what the NFL is for. They're going to college to earn a degree.There has to be a max limit set in place, if not, then only allow the richest teams in the playoffs. That's who's going to be in it anyway. There has to be a fair level approach to this for all teams, not just the wealthiest ones.

If they do a salary cap the players will be valued more than the coaches financially.

Bruh y’all some weird ass people 😂. Hate a man for leaving a school after a decade. But players could be on 4 different schools in 4 years.

Ratings don’t mean college football is in a good place… espn wants to turn it into nfl jr. patching logos from universities on to jerseys doesn’t mean it’s still college football

The dirtiest conference in college sports can't stop whining about NIL because other teams can now legally pay players that the sec has done for decades...screw the sec

They should put a cap on coaches salaries. They all end up getting fired or leave anyway. So caps would save the dumb ADs from paying all these coaches money while sitting at home fired
@randallmadison9910
@randallmadison9910 6 месяцев назад
@kevinorellanaable I think that's when it really went haywire. I think Wooden was paid about what an average professor was paid. UCLA had a booster paying players, too, so this stuff has never been innocent. but it just exploded after that. Kids understandably want all this money too. Just poorly played professional football and basketball.
@kevinorellanaable
@kevinorellanaable 6 месяцев назад
@randallmadison9910 excatly. It's just amazing how hypocritical these coaches are. They leave for other jobs all the time for a better job and more money. Or so many coaches get fired like jimbo fisher owed $72 million to sit at home. But they don't want to pay the kids. It's insane

@randallmadison9910 the insane part is these coaches really think they are just trying to help young men. Like they aren't doing this for the $10 million a year they make
