I was at this game, My friend played for Tennessee, and my family is from Baton Rouge, I thought this would be a good opportunity to see my boy play. This stadium was crazy, never heard a stadium any where close to the volume of this stadium. Didn't know this would be Sabans coming out party for who he has become, and the downfall of Tennessee.
Rohan Davey had such an odd rhythm to his passes. You’d swear he was going to get sacked, but the ball just always got away. Really strong arm without looking like he was throwing it hard, too.
So true. I loved that guy. The so called experts criticized his foot work - the guy was a champion with his own style. Loved watching him play. Great runner, too on some of those RPO's.
We would rematch the next year and Tennessee would win. We would then face them again later that season in the SEC Championship Game. After falling behind 17-7 and losing our starting qb and rb, 2 youngsters named Matt Mauck and Dominic Davis would rally us back and LSU defeated Tennessee 31-20 to win our first SEC Championship in 13 years. The 2 programs would go in complete opposite directions after this.
I have a suggestion if you are willing to hear it. I really believe that you have to show both teams big plays and scoring to give a good impression of the flow of a game. For the fans that are too young to remember this, the video doesn't give the impression of what a great game this was. Without my personal remembrance of the game I wouldn't be able to tell that this game was any more dramatic than any other close game.
Hard to believe this was 20 years ago. I remember betting LSU and finding out their backup was starting. Then he proceeds to lead them on an unbelievable win. Excellent game! Ron Franklin is so missed as well.
