LSX 454 Dyno run 1977 Chevy Monza Spyder LS1 LS2 LS3 LS6 LS7

GMPP LSX454 crate long block with stock small 236 hydraulic roller cam, LXR intake, Accufab 4500 throttle body with 2" primary headers through 3.5" exhaust and single chamber FM's.
Mild cam: 236 I / 246 E
Through a powerglide with loose converter and a Ford 9" rearend + tire rubbing friction as they swell: 500.8 RWHP ~ 636HP with 25% loss (wonder how much the tires rubbing cost me on the dyno?
Tire smoke: Tire swelling and starting to rub on the fender lip

I had a Monza Spider 5 liter and loved it. Before that I had a 67 Chevelle SS with factory high performance everything that could be ordered. Both cars were better than the 2 Vegas I also bought. Vegas were turned into Rally cars. My friend stuffed a BBC in his and it was used in NHRA Pro Stock car.

Right on Steven. They are forgotten cool cars by most peeps. Nobody recognizes it at shows. At the track, the old timers know Monzas!

@@Turbo_Todd You bet - Old School Monzas were a cross between Camero and Vega. Lightweight car with serious engine. I had so much fun in mine. It was white with black trim and a black louver on back window, and that big old Tarantula on the hood. Previous owner upgraded engine and exhaust. It looked and sounded like a real muscle car. Might have raced my Monza more than once, and did a speed trip from Seattle to center of State in 2 hours. Statute of limitations is over - LOL. I drive a Maserati GT now. But miss my Chevelle and Monza. Don't miss my Vega. I did buy a 1994 Buick Grand Sport with 3.8 factory high performance engine. It only has 45,000 miles on it. My Maserati has only 35,000.

I'm pretty sure he had a tuner on the phone connected into his computer in this car tuning it from a remote location while on the dyno. A friend of mine Fuel air Spark and RHS out of Memphis TN has done this on several occasions.

I had a 78 monza with a 406 sbc, I had to stretch the quarters a little bit so my 28x10.5's wouldnt rub like yours does! I just had them stretched a tiny bit for clearance and you couldnt tell it by looking they still looked stock!! by the way I love the monza bro but you need to let us see what that lsx looks like between the fenderwells bro...

Hello friend, it runs 660s on motor with pump gas and 580s on nitrous these days. Fun car.

@@mijomcgyver6270 to clarify, that's 1/8 mile times. Haven't run 1/4 with this setup. Never dyno'd on nitrous, but it makes just over 500RWHP with a very loose converter in the powerglide.

@@Turbo_Todd It took me a minute, but I figured out what you were talking about after thinking a bit. I still contend that a car that light with that much juice has got to be a handful to keep under control. You must spend a small fortune on rear tires! Once again - really nice car you've got there.

Will that's been said in many comments in the last 10+ years. It was a remote tune. I was talking to the tuner the whole time. Yep senseless, thanks for the callout. With a loose powerglide converter, it put down 505 to wheels pump gas N/A.
