Sweet, was the turbo from a detroit 60 series? Asking cause i have one of those detroit turbos. What size turbine housing you got. That looks like a huge pipe fro the fender. Your killing it my friend. Just might drop the turbo in, but i think my spool up will be lazy. My turbine housing is 1.28 T6.

Yes, it was from a Detroit diesel. The exhaust housing A/R is a 1.15. I've been running a ebay Gt45 turbo lately on my stock 305.

@@sbcperformance413 did the gt42 spool up good?. Thanks for a quick reply.

@@pjmccoy4216Yes, it did very good on a mild built 350 and a 383 stroker. It's a little laggy on a 305.

@@sbcperformance413 Thanks for the quick response. Any details you can provide on your cooling arrangement would also be appreciated. Looks like a great engine!

@@gmcnelly2468 I had to block the 2 big water jacket ports on each end of the heads, then I just routed the coolant back to the intake with hoses on front of the heads. Also had to drill and tap new bolt holes in the head for the old school intake. Wasn't too hard to make it all work.

@@sbcperformance413 Thanks. That was kinda what I was thinking. If you have some more photos showing this I would appreicate it. I have an extra set of LT1 (2nd gen) heads that I could use 0n a similiar setup. Kudos on being innovative!!!

@@gmcnelly2468 I don't have any photos of how I did this swap, but I can get some photos in the next week or so, when I can get some free time to do so.

I assume you used the gen 1 head gaskets? Also, was the jb weld the high temp epoxy? Love this idea.
@sbcperformance413

Yes, I used the gen 1 gaskets. I just used the jb weld steel stick not high temp stuff. I've been running these heads modified this way for 7 years now, no problems so far.

@@sbcperformance413 Thanks for the info. I've got (for now) a little 305 in a Luv pickup. NA, but it does okay for what it is. This is a cheap way to get aluminum heads since these are still out in our local JY for $100 a pair.
