In this Ltspice tutorial I take a look at various ways of simulating capacitors - from simple to accurate. But to start things of I will highlight how much of an influence the parasitics of a capacitor have on its behavior in an electrical circuit.

Thanks for this excellent video shining a light on the humble capacitor. For me it really exposes the need and what parameters to look at when selecting the right capacitor for the job. Maybe also helps explain the subjective differences in 'sound' of capacitors used in audio 👍🏼

Hey, I have been watching your videos for a long time. Your work is legit and far more precise than other youtube channels. I am very thankful for your videos. Talking about precision and accuracy, can you tell me how to accurately model the capacitance value that represents the coupling between a DUT (Device under test) and the ground plane when carrying Conducted Emissions Test for compliance. I really need a legit answer and I was hoping if could help me with that? Thank you once again.

Thank you for this video. Your English is very understandable and easy to listen to. One note: the word impedance has the accent on the second syllable (the 'pe') in English. The video is placing the emphasis on the first syllable (the 'im') which made the pronunciation hard to understand for this word. I look forward to viewing more of your videos.

Guess it has to do with the way this word is pronounced in Romanian, the accents are different than in English. I will try to keep in mind the correct pronunciation next time.

Can you simulate voltage coefficient of any ceramic capacitor

Thank you for such excellent content. Question: how would one best model voltage-dependent leakage (ie 0.04 x C x applied V)? Thanks
@FesZElectronics
@FesZElectronics Год назад
If the "c" is a constant, you can use a behavioral current source, and express its value based on a node voltage (ex: I=0.04*100e-6*v(n001)) 100e-6=100nF and n001 is the node with the applied voltage)

Excellent video, but how you would change with time (maybe using if) the resistance as you did with capacitance. I have tried to do that but my tries were in vain. Help of LTspice is helpless.

@FesZElectronics 4 года назад
Hello Mr. Remmoz! You can try to place in the field of value of the resistor something like: R=formula for example "R=1+time" without brackets or anything else. Let me know if this works for your needs.

@@FesZElectronics Unfortunately it is not working. But, may be, Im doing this in wrong way. time in not resolved.

Can you give me a few more details about what exactly you are trying to simulate? What type of simulation you are performing and what are you trying to achieve with the value change. If you want, we can move this discussion to email, so we can discuss on the actual simulation. My email is feszelectronics@gmail.com

Hi from France ! I really enjoy the content of your videos BUT your voice's tone (is it because of the microphone you've build?) make it impossible for me to watch them more than a few minutes. Too much high medium frequencies and a lot of distorsion and noise as if you were speaking in a long pipe. Am I the only one to complain about ? (Please note that many other YT english speaking channels I'm interested in have a very good sound quality, and I have no hearing problems whatsoever, ). Thanks if you could fix that issue. Best Regards

Hello YvesLesage, I am not sure why you are having this problem... If you want to help me with this, we could continue this discussion by email (mine is: feszelectronics@gmail.com). I could send you a bit of audio from this particular video, to see if my recording is bad, or if its some youtube setting.
