Our first evening in town, we enjoyed this fantastic story at the national Museum, located on the site of the old royal palace.
The story involved, a multitude of divine characters. A dream like epic of Indian origin, telling the story of Prince Phralam  and the infinite love he shares with the beautiful princess , Sida. Regrettably their love is disturbed by the jealousy of Totsakhan who, using skillful subterfuge, kidnaps the princess, and takes her to Lanka island, the island of giants.
The quest for his lost love begins when Phralam along with his brother, Lakshmani, and helped by an army of monkeys under the command of Hanuman and his generals gives chase. 
After a long, hard battle over the sea, the miserable king of Lanka is killed. Phralam returns to the princely palace, along with the princess, but momentarily doubts the real loyalty of Sida during her long stay with her supposed enemy.
Sida proves her innocence by submitting herself to an ordeal by fire, and all ends in order and peace.
This ballet troupe is renowned for their beautiful, original, costumes  projecting the old Lao (version)  of this folklore tale.
