In this video I take the Lucas 65D distributor from the Red mini project apart to see why it was not giving a suitable advance curve.
After that I recurve the advance profile to match the needs of the Red Mini.
This will be Part 2.5 of the Red mini project as it was a side project to the main tuning and repair process.

How did you test how many degrees at what rpm the engine likes?

By knowing the curve and then driving on the road and making timing adjustment. At some point the performance will drop off with too much timing or it will develop pinking/knocking.
