If you have money to buy a luxury car then come to repair....( Just throw the keys to the mechanic and say...Do it from bumper to bumper without look back) My neightbors who drive BMW just replace a starter for his red BMW and I asked him about how much...He saids $1,700 and he adds so cheap??!!) Not ME...I drive Toyota and Honda only and starters I buy about $100 replaced by me lifetime warranty by Autozone...... And I do not have to wait any seconds because those Honda Civic or Toyota Corollas like a jungles of car in America!!! Yes $100 USD......not $1,700 and just remember I am not a rich guy!

It reduced a leak on my Suburban by ~90%. Years ago I bought a Crown Vic with ~62k miles. It was whining so loud that I went to the nearest auto supply store for some Lucas. The reservoir was full, so I dipped out as much as I could with my finger and added maybe a tsp of Lucas. It quietened right down. It ran quiet until I sold the car with > 300k miles on it - never had to add fluid or do anything to the steering.

Lucas oil makes good products. They even recommend this on new vehicles just to maintain. It has nothing harmful no harmful solvents in it. If you have problems with your power steering you have nothing to lose by adding this product.

My wife got to work in -35 below weather, the power steering blew. ( Unfortunately we made the decision to down-size - I traded 2 1/2 car garage for a little one car shop ) As fast as I poured in the power steering fluid in, it leaked out. Being February I gave her the keys to my truck and called a few garages that wanted $670 smackers to change the power steering hose> Yeah thought that was excessive, for the stealer-ship to charge that much. - I decided to change the power steering hose myself. In May when it warmed up, I put the car on ramps and couldn't find the leak? It appeared to be dripping very slowly from the low pressure return line. I changed the low pressure return line 2007 Edge, and added some Lucas Power steering stop leak. "I never suspected the rack was the problem, and didn't really investigate properly. Over the next 2 weeks it went from silver dollar oil spot size to literally zero leakage. "However, 5-6 months later, this fall it turned -14 below zero and WHAM same shit.. the oil leaked out like a sieve " - I didn't even bother to call the stealer-ship to see how much they wanted to gouge me for to change the rack. So I threw her the keys to my 4x4 truck which she is happily driving to work and back. "MORAL OF THE STORY" - If it looks to be to good to be true, it probably is. "While I use many Lucas products all the time" When it gets freezing cold, "SHIT HAPPENS" peace out.

Front seal on my PS pump started leaking 4 years ago. It appeared to be coming from the front seal. So I tried the stuff (with some trepidation). It worked. A minimal leak returned 2 wks. ago so I added a little more Lucas. The steering was stiff after that (cold weather). Steering resistance returned to about normal after a few miles driving. Leak seems to have stopped but not certain yet.

It's not just the thicker viscosity, but the chemicals that 'fatten up' the seals. But it takes a while, like a full week.
@davescheer5038
@davescheer5038 2 года назад
So if it softens the seals does it soften the power steering hoses to and could break down there structural integrity and cause them to low out ?

Haha...that is the reason why the levels change..hot/cold. Thats why the levels on the dip stick say Cold Max and Hot Max. If they were both right above the line, then u didnt lose anything (not yet at least) and it changed accordingly cause of its contraction with cooler temps.. would take more then 2 ir 3 drops anyway to see a difference in levels..usually loses it much more while driving cause of the pressure. Great vid..thanks for sharing..was just funny about the hot/cold thing right after u had said what the dipstick said

Periodically I check my fluids and I noticed my power steering it needed a little fluid. I went to AutoZone and bought that prestone power steering fluid. About 2 Days later I couldn't steer my car. I pulled over and I added some more of that prestone and it leaked right out. Call my mechanic and he told me first try Lucas power steering sealer and I did. I drained my reservoir with a turkey baster and filled it with Lucas which took 12 oz. You got to be patient and give Lucas a chance to work for to circulate through the whole system. 2 days after I added the Lucas it was about three tablespoons short from the full mark so then I added more Lucas to the full mark and a couple days later I checked it again it was down about one tablespoon added more Lucas and the next time I checked it about 2 Days later it was still at the full mark and didn't lose nothing. It took about 8 days to fix the problem. I blamed myself for adding Prestone that might have caused the problem in the first place. That's only my assumption I could be wrong for stating that. The next time anybody who's a little low on fluid buy what the car company recommends to use. I checked my fluid about once a week now for starters and it's still at the full mark. I do recommend Lucas for fixing my problem.

You have to be patient with this stuff, and if you still have a leak now and then, still add the stuff in, you might have to go through 1 to 3 bottles. Depending on how bad it is. All it's going to do is seal any small little areas around the bushings around the seals. That's all. If you have a big leak, it's not going to do a darn thing, your just wasting your money. Also check all the fittings to the hoses, check the hoses and the lines and make sure they're tight and make sure there's no holes rust ect, sometimes you have leaks and hose connectors are not tight on the fittings. There's a lot of different factors why this stuff doesn't fix a leak. but be patient

high pressure hose usually leak and its pretty easy to replace
@americaninsectco
@americaninsectco 6 месяцев назад
This stuff doesn’t stop the noise because it doesn’t remove air from the system. Bleed the power steering system and/or remove trapped air BEFORE buying this. If the noise doesn’t go away, then it’s the pump that needs to be replaced. If the noise DOES go away, then drain the pump reserves some and refill it with this. Again, this doesn’t neutralize air. It just stops a leak.

The infinity sedans and coupes truly are some of the most problematic vehicles around that age and mileage. You can dump thousands into the steering system just to find out the transmission system is on its way out also. I would never recommend to buy one of these cars used or from an auction which is typically where the used car dealers get them from.

Once in a while, i see people here on YouTUbe who just have no damn idea what they are talking about, and that's fine, but what I really cant stand is people who just spew obvious bull. These products ABSOLUTELEY do what they say. They swell hardened, shrunken seals. This is not new technology. They will not, however, fix missing o rings or cracked o-rings. I have driven over 100K miles on a Lucas fix, and the Blue Devil ( low viscosity) seems to be even better. I even used the hydraulic fluid fix on a convertible top. Late model used luxury cars are a trap. Don't buy them. The smart people with money lease them or if they buy them, they sell them when the warranty runs out. They produce repair bills MUCH bigger than new Lexus payments.

@@ambersmith6941 You actually have to follow the directions on the bottle for the product you decide to use. For example I used Blue Devil Stop Leak (as it has been given better reviews (the Lucas one he is using is good too but some people state that a while later the leak starts again) and for the one I've decided to try the instructions states to use only 1/3rd the bottle... to repeat again the following day if the leak doesn't stop. FYI, the boots mentioned in this video are NOT oil seals. They are located on the ends of the rack and are dust seals only. The actual oil seals are inboard of these boots. When the seals leak the oil accumulates inthe boots and people often think that replacing the boots will fix the problem. NOT SO!!!. Also, I do not think it's a good idea to mix products like this person is doing. I am not a chemist and so am unable to determine if mixed products are compatible with each other. Just not a good idea IMHO.

Think he meant hi pressure HOSE leak. Which ya no stop leak will work on stopping a hose/ line from leaking. Only pump, etc etc. But if a line leaks just replace the line. Theirs vids on those all over. Wish could find a vid on my problem. This stupid seal at top of Rack, rite below where it hooks to steering shaft, is just a joke. Notsure how it could leak in same damn spot after changing the rack! Ugh. Could see the seal was good when installed. Yet does the same as my old rack! Checking lines all over has to be something pinched or blocked off somewhere raising my pressure or something. Crazy. But gl to all

It looks like you've got a bigger problem than just a stop leak fluid can fix.

It depends on the type of leak , but it defiantly buys you time , i added this stuff for weeks before i was able to afford the change , its so thick that it takes 20 times longer to leak out

@@NOBOX7 I'm confused by your comments. Did the Lucas Stop Leak fix your leak or did you wind up replacing your power steering rack to correct the problem?
@johngracejr9436
@johngracejr9436 5 лет назад
@@NitrousGasMan watch the vid man. It didn't stop his rack and pinion leak, but it sure slowed it down. But then again no stop leak will probably fix a rack and pinion leak, unless like he said if it was a low pressure leak. But if it's a line or hose leaking no it won't work. Leaks near the pump, yes. If their a slower leak anyway. But if its pouring fluid out fast nothing will fix except fixing the real issue. Goodluck! Im in the same boat. And about to pull out my 2nd steering rack and pinion. Not fun at all. This is on a GM car though, Chevy Impala. But very hard process took me way longer than the vids i saw. Mainly cuz i dont have a hoist. And had to buy some special tools etc. But I'll get it or junk it soon lol.

you can probably make it , i made it over 150 miles and mine was bad , just take some with you and pull off on on exit if your steering gets stiff. it took me 3 bottles of power steering fluid to make the trip so 2 bottles of lucas should get you there

Mine leaks when i turn the car off. Just drips. Not loosing any thing that I can see. It is on the pinion and rack joint is where it leaks. Will this work for me? Mine is the opposite to yours. Drip when off and no drip when driving. Just have seeing red shit all over my garage. Fyi the drips after finishing are the size of a 1 dollar australian coin.

All it will do is buy you time friend , i recommend you not drive without some fluid to add during your travels as it will suddenly get really bad . I drove mine until i almost got stranded , had to drive 1.5 hours and stop at every gas station to buy power stering fluid , but the truck stops have this stuff and it limped me home

Ya just depends on if its tiny leak or bad leak. It mite work on a small leak in your passenger side seal that must be leaking, thats what it sounds like it is amyway by the info given. Hope you got it sorted out. Gl.

Sounds like the oil under pressure when running is pushing the seals onto the shaft and sealing. I would put a little Lucas in it. It has chemicals that 'fatten up' the seals.
