I did too. Immediately after his concert he took ill and had to have the ambulance come get him. This was in 1996 in Seattle and then year old Key Arena, which has since been torn down. Time flies but this him lives on forever.
As a catholic, Ave Maria holds a very special place in my heart (I got great joy in hearing you say a Hail Mary), and the prayer gives me a peace that no other prayer can. Thank you fire your very honest reaction to this! Enjoyed every minute of it.
You are such a gentleman and a scholar, my friend. This tune changed my life while working in fine Italian dining. You have a tremendous palate for music, and I really thank you for that.
I agree 100%. Love JVs choice of music and his pure genuine reactions touch my heart. I find myself teary eyed in most of these videos. Especially this one. Touches my heart so deeply. Thanks JV for your heartfelt gift to us.
An opera singers voice is their "instrument". Just like playing a trumpet or a flute, the singer must spend hours and hours, years and years in perfecting their tone, pitch and musicality. Some people have a natural 'gift', but that doesn't mean they can let down on perfecting their craft. No electronic enhancements in singing opera. It's purity of the voice that touches your soul.
Even more. I was trained in this art for nearly 8 years now and at first its like you would have to take the parts of this instrument and put them together, that's what you do the first maybe two years, and after that you have to learn to play it. It's quite complicated, because you don't have an instrument standing before you and when you press this button, there is this tone. You have to imagine most of the things you learn and out of this imagination comes the technique. Luciano Pavarotti mastered a technique (translated it means 'the masc', im from Germany so I don't know the English name) and especially this one makes his singing sound lite and like it touches your soul. Unfortunately this technique is often neglected in singing schools (at least in Germany Idk about the other ones)
@@antoniavonrothkirch4453 Thank you Antonia for your insight. I never sang opera, but I did play flute and have been with people who play other instruments. I hope I wasn't being too forward in my "analysis", I've always been fascinated with how opera singers produce something so beautiful with just their vocal cords (and all the rest)... It's an amazing genre.
My cousin was a Sheriff in the Monroe Co. Sheriff's dept. and he was a diver for drowning victims and on one search, he had an equipment failure and he ended up drowning. This cathedral where is funeral was was packed with Law Enforcement officers from around the country. This song was played/sang and it was the most amazing moment I've ever experienced....both visually and audibly. Thanks for your reaction, Jay. I enjoyed it. Take care and be well. Peace.
Non opera singer named Barbra Streisand sings this. I get goosebumps with her singing anyway. But when she sings this song- oh maannnnnn!!-. You would love her voice
Thanks to you I spent several hours last night listening to opera. I think I'm addicted now - especially listening to Pavarotti. I think you might be addicted too. TY 😊
PLEASE do a reaction to Pavarotti & Sting singing Panis Angelicus it is crazy good. this song takes me right to the Catholic Church lol. So glad to see you exploring some opera and love your reactions cause you can really see the joy on your face when you listen to the music..♡
It's so beautiful to see someone having the first contact with the best of European culture, welcome! There is so much beauty in the world and we should be a lot more focus on good things and not in bad things. It was a joy to see your honest reaction. Cheers from Europe!
God bless you for discovering what beautiful music there is in the world. This song, Ave Maria, was one of my Mom's favorites and my daughter, who just got her Masters in Music/Voice, sings opera and she sang this as my son walked me in to my husband as when were married last August. Talk about a special moment... Please listen to Maria Callas singing it. You will need a tissue. There is so much opera out there to enjoy, Jayvee!! Dig in and hold on!! You are in for so many treats, so many goosebumps, SO many moments like you have shown us in this and your other video reaction of Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma. Thank you and again, God bless you! :)
He does have the most spectacular voice. Really goose bumps. I have heard other opera singers say Pavarotti had a Perfect Technique. He was inherently beautifully talented, and hard work pays too
One of the most transcendentally beautiful pieces of music ever written, performed by the greatest tenor of his time. How could it be any more perfect?
So beautiful! My dear Mom loved opera (she was a musician) and classical music. Listening to the Three Tenors (Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Jose Carreras) brought tears to her eyes. Thanks so much for doing this, Javon!
Loved that reaction! I'm only watching 2 channels... yours, and Jamel aka Jamal. He gave you a shout out and I was pleasantly surprised that you know each other! You both keep it real and make hearing our favorite music and recalling great memories fresh and new again! Hats off to you both!
@@incamoran9532 thank you for that! I will check it out for sure! I’ve been checking out other channels since I posted that comment, but I like Jayvee TV the most! One I’d recommend is a young guy, LFR JoJo. Very bright! Excellent interpretation of the lyrics. A new generation learning about good music warms my heart.
Check out Pavarotti and friends. He sings with everybody from Freddy Mercury to Celine Deion to Bruce Springsteen to Placido Domingo, Aretha Franklin and many many other popular singers from the 60's to his death in early 21 cent.
Yes just watching Jay's face - all the emotion, makes me cry. Music, the universal language for us all. We are all touched by beauty, no matter what form it takes. I am so happy I found these videos! Keep it up Jay - a great way for other's to discover new music, and for those of us that know them, a new appreciation through someone else's eyes. Amazing!!
Thanks for your honest appreciation of Luciano, who's been the last of all the great tenors of the last century. I've heard him live in 1983 in Munich for the last time, unfortunately. He was an outstanding opera singer and artist. Again, thanks for reacting to him and your appreciation!
You should hear his version of Caruso Try also the flower duet it’s like angels singing O mio babbino caro is gonna make you flip Madam butterfly has to be on your list man
You are so precious! “ I’ll maestro “ Luciano Pavarotti has been my favorite for so many years. There has never been anyone like him. Enjoy all of his music and it will expand your soul❤️When he died his beautiful instrument became even more precious to me! I missed his concert when he came here and I will regret that forever.
I LOVE, LOVE, that piece....interesting enough the first time I heard that music was in the movie Excalibur made back in the 80s. Helen Mirren was super young and she played Morgana. Then with a little research I found out it was O Fortuna by Carl Orff. 👍☺️
Beautiful music grabs your heart, takes your breath away and leaves you speechless! Pavarotti is so gifted! I love that you appreciate all kinds of music, which makes you a true music lover. ❤️❤️❤️
Awwww, your reaction to Pavarotti is fantastic. He absolutely grabs my soul too. You must listen to the three tenors and also Andrea Botacelli who is just amazing.
I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. It was the the middle 1960s, I was a child and it was the first time I was allowed to go to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. I felt so grown up! This was when the Mass was still said in Latin, so I understood little. We had a wonderful choir, but I had never heard a solo. The soloist was a family friend that I didn't know could sing. He gave the most beautiful rendition of Ave Maria, which I could understand. Every time I saw him I asked for him to sing this for me. Thank you and God bless you!
I love your honesty. I'm not an opera fan, but this always moves me to tears. So much beauty - you don't even have to understand Italian. thx for sharing
I loved watching your beautiful reaction. It gives me chills seeing it through your eyes as you experience it for the first time. We are grateful for you! Please come see us at the opera. That feeling Luciano gives us is what we all strive for as opera singers. -Mary
This is honor of the Mother of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary. It is a Catholic hymn and is one of the most beautiful songs written. It is also based on the prayer " Hail Mary" Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee, Blessed Art Thou among women and Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
Jayvee....I'm a 78-year-old granma....you and I have little in common...UNTIL I see you discover great music like this! It touches my soul, too! Glad to see you open your heart to it!
Welcome to a new world! There is so much to enjoy learning the voice and what it can do. Opera is a true test. So very impressed that you are so touched by it. Best reaction!
You are correct that there was something very special about him and just sitting down to listen to opera all day won't be the same as listening to him. There is always that one in a million person for each talent and he's definitely that one in a million to his profession. Rip Luciano.
Just amazing. My Mother first had me listen to him when I was 8....on a cassette tape. Then World Cup 90 came and Nessun Dorma came to the fore. I am a rock fan. A dance fan. A 90s pop fan. All sorts. Pavarotti will always be part of me too. Brilliant.
Saw Pavarotti sing Ave Maria on Johnny Carson one night probably in the 90's. It was stunning. When he finished everyone was silent for a precious moment. They had all been touched not only by his voice but by his heart. Amazing!
I am so happy that the algorithm brought you into my world. Watching you discover and appreciate this new genre (for you!) is such a gift. I hope that you continue to find more joy and inspiration in the world this unfolds for you. (and keep sharing!)
So excited to see you, a younger generation appreciate Pavarotti's music and sharing him with your audience. His voice excites so many emotions. If you want something fun, you may want to listen to O Sole Mio by the Three Tenors (the other 2 are good but he's always been my favorite).
Welcome to a new part of your life. You will never be the same after this. I heard a lot of these fantastick arias when I was a small girl. They have followed me for decades. This is a piece of Heaven. Enjoy, Brother!!!
I am deaf. My first time heard Luciano was on Tv when my daughter at 1 year old clicked different channel then quiet and sound when I was in kitchen chatting with my mama. Both of us say who is that good voice. We went to living room and discovered my daughter sitting and watching calm down and listen Luciano ... wow powerful voice.. I start crying because his voice draws in my soul. I love opera !! I love Luciano !!!!!!!
I really love your face ... I can see every single emotion coming out of you ... Luciano truly touch your deep soul!!! don't worry about your pronunciation ... its sounds good👏👏👏
My 85 year old mother and I just watched this together. She is quite a fan of Pavarotti and has seen him many, many times. We were both positively delighted with your reaction. (The Hail Mary is a Roman Catholic prayer to the Blessed Mother, FYI.) May God bless you, sweet man. We're now on to your next video!
Luciano Pavarotti always brings a smile to my face! Thank you Luciano! R.I.P. Signore Pavarotti! It helps a lot if you read the libretto before going to the opera. My mother was so disappointed because I fell asleep at the first opera she took me see. I had not read the libretto. I was 14 years old.
@JayveeTv it is a joy watching your reaction to all the music genres. I think music is in you very being because I have watched several of your videos and you truly love the music.
