Me too!!🙌🏽🙌🏽❤ i love Andre Bocelli too and Placido Domingo or 3 tenor performing "O' sole mio" with Pavarotti ! Its amazing ❤ i just love good music lol
Here is Pavarotti's translation "Man runs after power but He doesn't know The great limitations he places upon himself [?] In his fist (selfishly) he keeps an idea An idea that is alive Only in his fantasy; (still) he runs… Refrain: And he doesn't see that All this makes no sense If you live all by yourself" (or only for yourself)
It's not easy to translate because the lyrics of Pavarotti are particular, for Italians too. Anyway, I add my translation: "Man runs after the power, but he doesn't know the great limits as it will seem. In the palm to hold an idea that doesn't live, that he wanted in his imagination, if he doesn't realize that then nothing makes sense if you live only for yourself"
James was probably so proud of Luciano to take on his song. I love how they took their time and as we all know they can sing their asses off two power houses but they did this so respectfully and so tastefully. Respect to both and To the entire strings band back round singers god that must been so exciting!
Im so glad you chose this, this has to be hands down the best version of this song. You got The Godfather of soul James brown starting it off, doing what he does best bringing the soul and the flavor. Then you have the voice of god himself Pavarotti coming in with the power, the strength. Then they both send it home sounding so beautiful together. Guarantee you’ll get goosebumps! #RIP to these two icons and legends.
Two old blokes in their 60s! This is not only the best version of this song, it's one of the best versions of any song, ever! It is one of my all-time favourite YT videos.
I love James Brown, but Pavarotti brings tears to my eyes, such beauty! You must see the video Nessun Dorma, Los Angeles. Watch his face, at the end of his song. You will see that he knows he nailed it, and he is thanking God for the gift that was given to him. Pavarotti was a lover, he loved women, wine, food, music, and his audience. Note: YOU MUST NOT INTERRUPT HIM! Just sit in comfy chair, cause you will be trying to catch your breath.
It is absolutely no surprise to me that James Brown was loving Pavarotti's part of the performance; I once saw James Brown say in interview with reference to enjoying music that " God's ears don't lie..", in other words if you can hear music, and the music is good you can't help but be moved by it. Love it how the God Pavarotti is so gracious towards these collaborating artists. I saw him perform a song with Stevie Wonder (Peace Wanted Just To Be Free, you can find the live version on RU-vid), and at the end of the song Pavarotti walks over to Stevie, embraces him and kisses him on the forehead. What a compassionate man; Stevie's reaction was priceless; like a little boy who has just been reassured he is absolutely loved. Despite the musical God he is, he had so much respect for Stevie.
Man, what a duet! And if you think that Pavarotti had cancer at that time. Singing quite effortless in a different type of style...Can you imagine what that means? Mind blowing.
This was an awesome performance. James looks so thrilled when Luciano was singing. I believe that this was an annual charity event. Check out the performance with Luciano and Barry White. The crowd goes absolutely nuts when they see Barry White walk on stage.
Pavarotti did a series of concerts and recordings called Pavarotti and Friends where he teamed up with pop artists and legends. This was one of those concerts. They did raise funds for charity with each of these collaborations. RIP two great legends. Good choice for reaction!
Whew I got chills the minute Pavorotti sang and James brings the soul from the gut. This was awesome!!! Love how they hugged at the end. So much respect for each other.
What a beautiful memory it is for me! That evening I was present at the show, called Pavarotti and friends. Luciano organized this concert every year in his small city of origin (Modena), it brought together many famous personalities of international music and did it to raise funds to be donated to charity. Thanks to remember it.
I saw James Brown at a concert when I was a teen. You couldn’t take your eyes off of him and I was at Madison Square Garden up near the top rows. I’ve NEVER seen another artist with that much stage presence. I wish I’d seen Pavarotti live as he was a favorite since the 70s . If Live At the Met showed an opera with Pavarotti, I was watching it.
Dios Mío!!!!!! I can’t believe the voices of these two men, I envy the people who had the pleasure of witnessing this historic event. Just WOW 🤩 Incredible!!! You hear James and his voice takes you away and then hear Luciano and DAMN I just died🤩🤩
The microphone quality, acoustics, orchestra and 2 legendary iconic artist singing an iconic song pure earphonic happiness! This cannot be improved. Bravo!
Hey we heard this one for the first together, I nearly broke down in tears at Pavarotti's part, he just hits those notes that you can literally feel. Amazing duet, thanks for the upload, I really enjoy your channel my friend.
How GOOD IS GOD to BLESS us with THEE Mr. James Brown AND Pavarotti!! This is the song of the world!! Wow this touched me!! And you are an AMAZING REACTOR!! God sure did BLESS us by sharing YOU TOO!! PEACE ALWAYS, MY WONDERFUL BROTHER!!🙏🙌🙏🙌🙏😁😁😁😁🌹
This was one of the greatest collaboration in the music industry. As an opera and James Brown's buff I love this pairing. And yes I am a black woman who grew up listening to every decade and type of music 🎶, the UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. ✌
Very well said. Neither of these would be my choice in music but bringing these to greats together makes me want to listen and it's expanded my narrow tastes. I'm a white guy who was brought up listening to 90s British music. Music has no prejudices...I'm not sure how old James brown is here but fuck he's cool!
Don't worry you've got company, lol, I didn't either, but see shows like the Grammys you never know whats gonna happen, that Grammys where Whitney Houston was supposed to perform, and you know she was having problems then, so Aretha stepped in and low and behold she's doing opera,.. OPERA!, I think its a scene from Verdi's Aida, look it up its on here, been so long ago ,. I barely caught it when she did it, I went to the bathroom or I was coming out the shower or something and I had the show on, but never , NEVER expected to Aretha doing opera, I knew how accomplished a vocalist she was but opera,..wow, Godspeed, Peace ✌
That was absolutely beautiful! What a combination of talent and such respect! Two totally different cultures meeting in middle ground. Thank you for this reaction, Jamel. I never knew about this, it was wonderful! I had no idea that James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti, ever sang together. Wow!
You had a great reaction to this! It was amazing to see both of them together. And I don’t know if you noticed but the women they kept showing that we’re singing background they were the Bittersweets, James Brown’s back up singers at the time.
Mr. Brown was 69 here, Mr. Pavarotti was 67. This was 2002. James Brown has been my favorite performer since I was 12 in 1968 and he still is more than 13 years after he passed away. And this performance always gives me chills. It doesn’t look like it should work because the two of them are such different types of singers but it’s magical!

Yes!! When Luciano first came in it BLEW MY MIND!!!! I’ve been watching this for about 4-1/2 years and it is a masterpiece to me!! James lights up when Luciano sings. You can tell he loves his voice so much. This was a once in a lifetime performance and Luciano’s best duet ever.
This is making me jones for some James Brown! "25 Greatest Hits" is an album I recommend for any music lover! He held his own with Pavaratti, one of the greatest opera singers of all time! Amazing!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Jamel, RU-vid family, thank you for this. I had never heard it, and it is so, so good! Thank you for sharing this, I feel so blessed to be on this journey with you and to be experiencing my own firsts along the way. Music transcends time and space, age and race, religion and position. With it, we attune to the harmony of the Universe and truly realize we are all grooving to the same vibe, the deep rhythm of Life and the sweet notes of Love.
Found this about one hour ago, must have watched it about ten times since then. Two wonderful voices from so different aspects of music, but singing this together and with the brilliant choral and orchestral backing, beautiful - awesome - unforgettable. Thanks Jamel, don't know where else I would have heard this, made me so happy. B.G.
Wow, just wow! I just did a re-watch of Get On Up to celebrate Chadwick Boseman's line of work. Then stumbled on this. I grew up hearing some Pavarotti in my Italian household. These two was a whole new level. So good, it's beyond words for me. I never really fully embraced opera, but now I can't help but see how soulful opera is. Thanks Jamel!
Thank you Jamel. I did not know this even existed. Thank you so much. Two icons from two totaly different spectrums of music singing together. Amazing.
You never stop this much.. .this is the most I've ever seen.... and then you stopped when they were singing together, back n forth... such a moment ... man.... first time I ever felt that with you... it was truly a great performance with two legends... so I guess I understand but man....
You MUST check out Karise Eden auditioning this song on the The Voice Australia. She goes on to sing the hell out of Janis Joplin's Stay With Me Baby in the finale. Amazing vocalist.
You are so sweet!!!! I love watching you discover all the music of the past, other cultures and genres. It’s like hearing it for the first time myself. I truly enjoy watching your channel.
Surreal and beautiful isn't it? A blend of raw power and passion. This talent is enough to make a grown man cry. Thank you Jamel. You're the bomb brother.
Wow! I've never seen this before! Just freaking awesome! Thanks Jemal! I love both of these legends! You should do more of both of these guys to further widen your fans' musical horizons. As I've said before, I grew up on classic rock and heavy metal. I was first introduced to soul and R&B as a teen is the early 80s by our wheelchair bus/van driver. We'd switch off between rock and metal and the local LA R&B station. I learned to appreciate soul and R&B, but I really liked James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Lionell Ritchie, Parliment and others! Often he would take me home from school last and we'd cruise down to the beach and get high with the radio blasting! I'd show up home at 5:00 PM happy as could be! I just found this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xE_NEO2UfBQ.html It's BB King and Pavarotti. Check it out! Take care man!
Beautiful. Both looking at each other with mutual respect and admiration. No one tried to upstage the other. True professionals. RIP to both. You are so missed 😢
Jamal, Glad that you enjoyed this duet. Nice review. Some years ago I stumbled on this and couldn't believe my ears. I bookmarked it and put it in my music collection and watch it now and then. It always makes me feel good. I think the two of them really enjoyed working together. James smiled a lot. Even the beautiful backup ladies were smiling and seemed relaxed. It must have been a good night wherever that was. Thanks.
You've been diggin' on Steely Dan & The Doobie Brothers lately, so you should give Bob Seger a listen. You've probably heard of some of his songs - Old Time Rock & Roll, Turn The Page, We've Got Tonight, Like a Rock
What a beautiful video. Thanks for adding your REACTION and making everyone understand that music, along with a lot of other things, i.e., sports, education, etc., can bring us together and make us understand that we have a lot of differences to share and pass on and on and on and on and...
You just gave me a first reaction Jamal. I never knew they collabed on anything. This was Awesome! Thank You!!! Now I know how you feel when you are getting your first listen to the music of my youth!!!! Thanks!!!!
