Maddy, one of the greatest moments of my life was meeting Luciano Pavarotti in 1997. I greeted him, and he smiled and shook my hand. I felt as if I had touched the hand of an angel. He is the greatest opera singer ever. It is really not a close call. As you experienced by the shivers, tears, and joy in a 3-minute song, Pavarotti was able to convey tremendous emotion - much more than just words. RIP maestro, we miss you...
Have you heard every great opera singer? because if you haven't your opinion holds no weight at all does it, if you said he is the greatest you have heard then that has some validity. Most experts would disagree that he is the greatest, very good but not the greatest, not even close really.
@@neilcarpenter2669 по моему вы очень тупой и ограниченный человек. Это великий тенор. Невозможно сравнивать великих людей. Это не соревнование по бегу или плаванью. Вам этого похоже не понять.
When you paused it half-way through and spoke of his beautiful voice, I was sitting here thinking: 'You ain't heard NOTHING yet!' That high note ending! Just WOW!!!
My dearest MADDY, watching your face knowing what was to come is so heartwarming. Your reaction is as great as PAVs performance. Peace and Love from Minneapolis
Pavarotti + Nessun dorma is like the finest diamond. It never fades. Thanks for that reaction. The good news is that it happens every time. It's a joy for life.
It never fails no matter how many times I hear Pavarotti sing this song I always get all choked up inside and controlling my tears is so hard to do. It’s so damn beautiful this song even if it is so short but it gets to the point and your heart. You’re right, there is nothing like this type of music and singer today and that’s too bad. Thank you for this.
I was there for this concert, 1994, the night before the World Cup Soccer finals. This was in Dodger Stadium, about 70.000 or more people. The entire grassy area in the stadium was covered with chairs. All of the superstars and politicians etc of the Era was on the front rows. Sinatra was front and center... The set was built against the center field wall by Hollywood set designers. over a million dollars. the song was short because it is just one song of many in an opera that had many songs. turanadot. I saw Luciano many times. With symphony orchestra and just a piano. I am 78. For most of my life I lived in an era of romance...just listen to the songs from 50's 60's 70's and part of the 80's. the era of Cheek to cheek dancing to beautiful ballads with words of romance.... and in that era you could understand the words....the golden age of music in america...is gone
Lucky, lucky you. In England, this was the theme tune that they played before every televised 1990 World Cup Game (the tournament was hosted in Italy). I've forgotten all the games (apart from Englands losing semi-final, of course) but I will never forget this performance by the great man. And 33 years later it still reduces me to tears.
You're not the only one, that was truly amazing. I've never been a fan of the opera; always bored. But what I wouldn't give to have seen him perform. Pavarotti might be the greatest voice of our lifetime.

@@MaddyReactions I subscribed to you after I watched your emotional reaction, about five times, to see if it was real, and you passed the test, if this rendition of a great Opera solo does not move someone to tears, and in your case and mine, the chin quiver.Your reaction was pure and simple honesty, which I admire and have no answer for 🥰, maybe decent morality , this is the perfect remedy for people that need a good cry, and to let emotion take its course.I am not sure of the TV coverage in the US, but in the late 90's the BBC did an all points documentary with Luciano, and it turned out he was an awesome , beautiful person. One of Italy's finest, after Galileo 🤩
This performance still takes my breath away every single time. His final delivery there at the end is just a fascinating study of being in character, and then ending triumphantly, and then staying there for a bit, and then slowly the character slips away and we see basically an athlete after an astounding performance, and finally we see him as just the opera singer and the man himself, in front of all these emotional people, and it's just so moving.
I'm Italian and I'm very sorry to tell you :bad pronunciation 😁. Luciano Pavarotti as you read as you pronounce. This isn't a song but an "aria" from Turandot by the great composer Puccini. Bad pronunciation but great reaction. Big Luciano G. O. T.
Maddy, as a hopeless romantic, I couldn't agree with you more. Love doesn't exist to the extent of the beauty captured and delivered in this masterpiece. Technology has surpassed humanity's love and compassion.
I've watched this performance a thousand times and yet i still can't hear it without emotion. I think this might be one of the most amazing vocal performances of all time. Great reaction, Maddy.
Hey Maddy, thank you so much for reacting to this, it was such a great reaction and it really meant the world to me. I will never forget the first time i heard this, it resonated so much with me and i am so glad you enjoyed it just as much as i did...much love!
I watch every reaction to this that I can find and it is ALWAYS the same. You have the wonderful combination of great music, a great voice, and someone experiencing this for the very first time. There is that visceral reaction to the very first phrase that he sings, and it goes on from there. This was a joy to watch. I must have either played for or heard this piece many hundreds of times, and it gets me EVERY TIME.
Hehe! You got chills at the "warmest" part of the song. And then tears. Which was just for starters. Like so many of us before, this performance made the sometime cold existence of life seem truly warm and heavenly to you. I think its likely that you will love this song forever, and it will make you cry every time you hear it sung by Pavarotti. Because that seems to be what it does for most people. elicit tears of joy, tears of humility. tears of a kind of sense of freeness. Great suggestion by Steve.
A brother of mine drove limo for Pavarotti in Minneapolis (early 1990s?). Said he was a very nice and polite man. Almost got to play tennis with him. Didn't quite happen, he didn't have a change of clothes. Famous folk are just people like us, but with something they do really, really well. Sometimes we put them too high on a pedestal.
This is one of my favourite opera song. For those who doesn't know the Turandot, check the lyrics of the all Opera, the story is amazing. Such a beautiful voice for a beautiful song.
That real high note at the end was a B4 in the tenor range. I don't generally even like opera (especially the female opera singers), but I have to say that his tone of voice, intonation & phrasing was out of this world! He doesn't have that overly exaggerated tone & vibrato that I usually hear from others singing in that Opera style, which is a different art form compared to Pop/ Rock since they use their voices differently. But again, I have to say that Pavarotti was AMAZING!
Quite literally the most beautiful male voice I have ever heard. I've watched four recordings of Pavarotti singing this aria, and none match the intensity and passion of this one. Personally I think he was competing with the other two of the Three Tenors. 😉
Wonderful. Maddy! 😊 A voice for the ages. I too had the pleasure of hearing him in concert at Symphony Ha;ll in Boston in the late 90's. Truly spectacular!
It always gets me the look on his face after the last note, you can see it that he went to a zone to get the job done. When someone pours everything they got, heart and soul that is what connects to other people.
Pavarotti è impossibile da definire come anche questo estratto dell'opera lirica della Turandot di Giacomo Puccini. Due geni uniti per sempre nella stessa opera. Molto bella la reazione, molto bella anche tu. Saluti da Roma.
My favourite performance of all time, out of all the reactions I've watched, I felt compelled to comment on this lovely one alone. I have never scene a performance bring so many to tears of both joy and sadness. RIP the legend that is Luciano Pavarotti
It's so short, because it is just one small part (an aria) of the opera Turandot by Giancomo Pucini. It is the song of Prince Calaf, who has fallen in love with Princess Turandot, who has refused many suitors and requires that each suitor answer 3 riddles with a wrong answer resulting in their death. Calaf passed the test, but Turandot refuses to marry him anyway, so he offers her an alternative...guess his name and he will accept death. The song (from the final act) is him singing his bold confidence of winning Turandot's hand.
hey Maddy, im 58 years old, i was brought with these guys in my life, like others, im not opera fan, but there some opera singers than just have that ability to touch you, pavarotti, andre bochelli, and another that died, many years ago, cant rember his name, big guy, someone will know
Thank you for your heartfelt reaction to Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma. Good to see your recognition of his talent and the emotion he puts into this aria! 😊 Watching from Canada. 🇨🇦
It's from the the opera "Turandot" by Puccini. It's a classic fairy tale...a proud Princess declares she will only marry someone who can answer three riddles. If they fail, they get executed. Several try and die. Finally one more steps forward and answers all three riddles. The Princess still doesn't want to marry him but he tells her if she can guess his name before dawn, he will allow himself to be killed. She says she will allow no one to sleep and threatens to kill everyone unless someone tells her the Prince's name. The song you're hearing is sung by the Prince (who's name is Calaf) during the night, proclaiming that he will win. Meanwhile the Princess is having a slave girl who knows his name tortured. The girl won't tell her his name and commits suicide. (It's opera...things like this happen.) Sun comes up, Princess doesn't know, Calaf takes her veil off and kisses her...then Princess tells him his name is "Love." Happy ending...except for all the people who die before the wedding.
Viva l'Italia!!!
It is amazing how a persons voice can reach into your being and create feelings that are felt throughout your mind and body. I've seen this several times and it always makes me emotional.
I got on to this song for Italia 90 world cup.. then as grew older i looked into it more. 3 tenors and so on.. then i travelled round Italy .. what a country.. I've been to Rome, Naples, Amalfi Coast.. and am due back this year for Florence, Tuscany and other places.. Its a country like no other.
If it was any longer the Earth would collapse in on it's self from all the hearts across the globe breaking for such a beautiful song. Thank God it's as short as it is.
I'd like to suggest the amazing tenor Andrea Bocelli singing Amazing Grace from his Music for Hope concert from the Duomo in Milan. It was during the height of the pandemic when 100,000's of our friends and family had died and millions worldwide were infected with Covid. The streets of most major cities were like ghost towns. But this simple song raised spirits across the globe. At the time my little state had lost 25,000 family and neighbors but watching Andrea gave me hope that we would get through this terrible, terrible time.
You're certainly not the only one. That aria and Pavarotti have been getting people for decades and will continue to do so for as long as there are breathing, living humans on this planet.
tenor all-timebar none. When he was younger (40s to 50s) his voice was even stronger. He was in his 60's for this performance. He is pure emotion when singing. Godly gift.
